- Nutrition and melanoma prevention.
Abstract
Melanoma has continued to rise in incidence despite public efforts to promote sun protection behaviors. Because sunscreen use does not completely prevent skin cancer induced by ultraviolet radiation, additional chemopreventive methods for protecting against and reversing the effects of ultraviolet photodamage need evaluation. Recent years have brought increased interest in dietary factors, such as natural botanicals and vitamins, for the prevention of melanoma. This contribution provides a narrative review of the relevant, nutrition-related literature found by searching the keywords "melanoma chemoprevention," "nutrition and melanoma," "dietary botanicals and melanoma prevention," "green tea and melanoma," "vitamin D and melanoma," and "vitamin E and melanoma" in the PubMed database. Although randomized controlled trials of humans are lacking, basic science and epidemiologic studies show promising benefits of many natural products in chemoprevention for melanoma. Future studies, hopefully, will yield concrete answers and clarify the role of commonly available dietary nutrients in melanoma chemoprevention.

Foods that help Prevent and Fight Melanoma
Many individual foods are purported to help prevent and fight cancer, with varying levels of concrete scientific evidence. Here are some of the most promising foods that have either been scientifically studied, or have garnered anecdotal evidence of their potency.
Melanoma-Fighting Food!
|
A nutrient called sulforaphane, contained in broccoli sprouts as well as other cabbage-family vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, and kale has been shown in observational studies to help prevent cancer.
Melanoma and Supplements
There are a variety of vitamins and minerals that can potentially help prevent and fight cancer and melanoma. Some may also be helpful in managing side effects of a variety of cancer treatments.
- Melatonin: Dozens of studies and a wide range of clinical evidence suggests that high doses of melatonin not only help prevent melanoma, but also may help kill melanoma tumors and prevent them from spreading. Read more about melatonin and melanoma.
- Vitamin D (Specifically Vitamin D3): Studies and anecdotal evidence around the use of Vitamin D in fighting melanoma, and specifically the D3 form, reveal that it is a promising supplement. There are over 3,500 PubMed articles on Vitamin D3 and cancer, including over 80 clinical trials. Many studies cite the positive effect that Vitamin D3 has on killing melanoma cells, and animal studies that suggest that it may play a role in helping to prevent the spread of melanoma. Read more about Vitamin D3 and melanoma.
- Selenium: The effect of selenium on fighting melanoma is a subject of a lot of recent studies. Many patients tend to deficient in selenium, which is an important micronutrient.1 Some studies on mice suggest that various selenium compounds may prevent the spreading of melanoma. Additionally, several studies have suggested that selenium vegetables such as broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kale and Brussels sprouts, can help your body target melanoma.
- Other promising supplements include
- CoQ10
- N-Acetyl Cysteine
- Flax Seed Oil
- Lycopene
- Alpha Lipoic Acid
INNATE INTELLIGENCE
Healing comes from within. The wisdom that made your body can heal your body. Chiropractic science teaches that the body has an inborn ability to heal itself. In chiropractic we call this innate intelligence.
When you cut your finger in most cases all you need to do is clean the cut and the body will do the rest. When you break a bone if it is not severely dislocated the body can pull the bone back together and make it stronger than it was before the break. As a chiropractic physician I rely on your bodies inborn intelligence to produce the results from care. My job is to remove the interference and let innate intelligence to the rest. Yes we have to give innate the proper building blocks through proper diet and nutrition plus we need to stop overloading the body with toxic chemicals and depleted nutrients like refined carbohydrates or junk food.
Exercise, oxygen, clean water, stress reduction and proper rest are all components necessary for good health. Drugs can not give you healthy tissue cells, vitamins can not give you healthy tissue cells without innate intelligence doing its job. That's why the adjustment is so important. The doctor inside needs to have full access to every part of your body in order to maintain good health. Nerve pressure interferes with the innate intelligence's ability to restore health. Who do you know who would benefit from chiropractic care?
Chiropractic releases health from within, not from a pill.
Apple cider vinegar
Paul Bragg was one of the first that championed the use of apple cider vinegar in America. Paul C. Bragg, Father of the Health Movement in America, had vision and dedication. This dynamic Crusader for worldwide health and fitness is responsible for more firsts in the history of the Health Movement than any other individual.
Bragg’s amazing pioneering achievements the world now enjoys:
♠Bragg originated, named and opened the first Health Food Store in America.
♠Bragg Health Crusades pioneered the first Health Lectures across America. Bragg inspired followers to open Health Stores across America and then worldwide.
♠Bragg was the first to introduce pineapple juice and tomato juice to America.
He introduced Juice Therapy in America by importing the first hand-juicers.
He was the first to introduce and distribute honey and date sugar nationwide.
♠Bragg pioneered Radio Health Programs from Hollywood three times daily in the 20s.
♠Bragg and daughter Patricia pioneered a Health TV show from Hollywood to spread The ♠Bragg Health Crusade on their show, Health and Happiness. It included exercises, health recipes, visual demonstrations and guest appearances by famous, health-minded people.
♠Bragg opened the first health restaurants and the first health spas in America.
He created the first health foods and products and then made them available nationwide: herbal teas, health beverages, vitamin drinks, seven-grain cereals and crackers, health cosmetics, health candies, calcium, vitamins and mineral supplements, wheat germ, digestive enzymes from papaya, herbs and kelp seasonings, and amino acids from soybeans. Bragg inspired others to follow (Schiff, Shaklee, Twin Labs, Herbalife, etc.) and now thousands of health items are available worldwide!
Health benefits from consuming apple cider vinegar: improving upset stomach, hiccups, sore throats, lowers LDL-cholesterol, stuffy nose, helps weight loss, gets rid of dandruff, clears acne, boost energy, cuts down on nighttime leg cramps, improves bad breath, whiteness teeth, fades bruises, helps control blood sugar, it's the only vinegar that will increase alkaline pH of the body.
SLEEP
Sleep problems unfortunately are becoming a bigger issue in our society. Some people who have sleep disorders are not even aware that there is a problem. Here are some of the symptoms you can have when you don’t get the five levels of sleep at night that you should.
The effects include:
- Fatigue, lethargy, and lack of motivation
- Moodiness and irritability
- Reduced creativity and problem-solving skills
- Inability to cope with stress
- Reduced immunity; frequent colds and infections
- Concentration and memory problems
- Weight gain
- Impaired motor skills and increased risk of accidents
- Difficulty making decisions
- Increased risk of diabetes, heart disease, and other health problems
If two or more of these symptoms are ones you identify with you might be having a sleep disorder. Sleep is an important time for your body to regenerate itself particularly your digestive system. Another sign of poor sleep is a lack of appetite in the morning. If you don’t have a desire for breakfast within 30 minutes of waking you might have a problem sleeping. Below is a chart that tells our needs for sleep by age:

Myths and Facts about Sleep
Myth 1: Getting just one hour less sleep per night won’t affect your daytime functioning. You may not be noticeably sleepy during the day, but losing even one hour of sleep can affect your ability to think properly and respond quickly. It also compromises your cardiovascular health, energy balance, and ability to fight infections.
Myth 2: Your body adjusts quickly to different sleep schedules. Most people can reset their biological clock, but only by appropriately timed cues—and even then, by one or two hours per day at best. Consequently, it can take more than a week to adjust after traveling across several time zones or switching to the night shift.
Myth 3: Extra sleep at night can cure you of problems with excessive daytime fatigue. The quantity of sleep you get is important, sure, but it's the quality of your sleep that you really have to pay attention to. Some people sleep eight or nine hours a night but don’t feel well rested when they wake up because the quality of their sleep is poor.
Myth 4: You can make up for lost sleep during the week by sleeping more on the weekends. Although this sleeping pattern will help relieve part of a sleep debt, it will not completely make up for the lack of sleep. Furthermore, sleeping later on the weekends can affect your sleep-wake cycle so that it is much harder to go to sleep at the right time on Sunday nights and get up early on Monday mornings.
You may be sleep deprived if you...
- Need an alarm clock in order to wake up on time
- Rely on the snooze button
- Have a hard time getting out of bed in the morning
- Feel sluggish in the afternoon
- Get sleepy in meetings, lectures, or warm rooms
- Get drowsy after heavy meals or when driving
- Need to nap to get through the day
- Fall asleep while watching TV or relaxing in the evening
- Feel the need to sleep in on weekends
- Fall asleep within five minutes of going to bed
The good news is that you don't have to choose between health and productivity. As you start getting the sleep you need, your energy and efficiency will go up. In fact, you're likely to find that you actually get more done during the day than when you were skimping on shuteye.
Here are some recommended tools to help rehabilitate your sleep mechanism:
- Stick to a sleep schedule of the same bedtime and wake up time, even on the weekends. This helps to regulate your body's clock and could help you fall asleep and stay asleep for the night.
2. Practice a relaxing bedtime ritual. A relaxing, routine activity right before bedtime conducted away from bright lights helps separate your sleep time from activities that can cause excitement, stress or anxiety which can make it more difficult to fall asleep, get sound and deep sleep or remain asleep.
Take a hot bath
Your temperature naturally dips at night, starting two hours before sleep and bottoming out at 4 a.m. or 5 a.m., according to a 1997 study conducted by New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center in White Plains, N.Y. When you soak in a hot tub, your temperature rises—and the rapid cool-down period immediately afterward relaxes you.
Two hours before bed, soak in the tub for 20 or 30 minutes, recommends Joyce Walsleben, PhD, associate professor at New York University School of Medicine. "If you raise your temperature a degree or two with a bath, the steeper drop at bedtime is more likely to put you in a deep sleep," she says. A shower is less effective but can work, as well.
Lay out your clothes
You can help your body recognize that bedtime is imminent by setting routines and repeating them every night.
"We suggest that people establish regular nightly routines before they get into bed, to help their brain shift into sleep mode," says Gary Zammit, PhD, director of the Sleep Disorders Institute in New York. "Laying out your pajamas, brushing your hair or your teeth—these habits can be very sleep-conducive."
Shun p.m. stimulants
Skipping your normal cup of joe should help you fall asleep quicker, because caffeine is a stimulant. "I don't like people having caffeine after noontime if they have poor sleep, because it can hang out in the system for a long time," says Walsleben.
Even decaf drinkers should beware: A 2007 Consumer Reports study found that even decaffeinated coffees sold at several chain restaurants contained caffeine, with one from a big chain having 32 milligrams of caffeine per cup—about the same amount as in 12 ounces of cola.
Nicotine is also a stimulant; smoking to relax before bed can actually do the opposite, revving up your heart rate and keeping your brain alert, says Walsleben.
Shut down electronics
You may find it relaxing to catch up on correspondence with friends just before turning in for the night, but the practice could increase the amount of time you toss and turn. Lit screens (that includes televisions too) are stimulating, says Walsleben, so it's best to avoid them.
"Before your targeted bedtime, begin slowing down your brain by doing something calming, like reading in a comfy chair—somewhere other than bed," she says. "Stop watching TV and checking email."
Wear socks to bed
If cold feet are keeping you awake—especially during the winter—warm them up with a soft pair of socks. The extra layer under the covers can help improve circulation in your extremities, which can help you fall asleep more quickly, according to Phyllis Zee, MD, PhD, professor at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago.
Limit evening food and drinks
A large meal or spicy snack too close to bedtime can leave your digestive system working overtime while the rest of your body lies awake. And alcohol may make you drowsy, but it will disrupt your sleep patterns later in the night and keep you from getting the deep, restorative REM sleep you need to feel refreshed.
If you drink a lot of any liquid before bed, for that matter, you may be up throughout the night using the bathroom. "Most adults middle-age and older have to get up at night for this reason," says William C. Dement, MD, professor of psychiatry at Stanford University and author of The Promise of Sleep, "but restricting fluids before bed can help."
Make Some Noise
CLICK TO ORDER
Some people need to sleep in complete silence; while on the other hand, some need a little background noise. For many (myself included), the dripping of the faucet, the hum of electricity, the sound of themselves breathing, or the blankets rustling as they toss and turn stresses them out and keeps them awake. So what’s the deal? Technically speaking, white noise is a consistent noise that comes out evenly across all hearable frequencies. When you get jarred awake or bothered by a noise at night, it’s not really the noise itself, but the abrupt inconsistency in the noise that you hear. The fact of the matter is you still hear when you sleep, and white noise can mask those inconsistences. The scientific aspect set aside its just plain soothing, filling out the silence that makes you feel trapped with racing thoughts or excess energy.
You will need…
-Something that creates white noise
Directions
When you go to sleep, turn on the white noise. My personal favorite is a fan, but there are even white noise machines tuned specifically for the purpose of drowning out sound.
- If you have trouble sleeping, avoid naps, especially in the afternoon. Power napping may help you get through the day, but if you find that you can't fall asleep at bedtime, eliminating even short catnaps may help.
- Exercise daily. Vigorous exercise is best, but even light exercise is better than no activity. Exercise at any time of day, but not at the expense of your sleep.
- Evaluate your room. Design your sleep environment to establish the conditions you need for sleep. Your bedroom should be cool – between 60 and 67 degrees. Your bedroom should also be free from any noise that can disturb your sleep. Finally, your bedroom should be free from any light. Check your room for noises or other distractions. This includes a bed partner's sleep disruptions such as snoring. Consider using blackout curtains, eye shades, ear plugs, "white noise" machines, humidifiers, fans and other devices.
- Sleep on a comfortable mattressand Make sure your mattress is comfortable and supportive. The one you have been using for years may have exceeded its life expectancy – about 9 or 10 years for most good quality mattresses. Have comfortable pillows and make the room attractive and inviting for sleep but also free of allergens that might affect you and objects that might cause you to slip or fall if you have to get up
Addressing sleep disorders through nutrition can be very effective. When we address nutrition it’s important to have an underlying diet that helps balance your chemistry. We utilize the body type system in determining the ratio of fats, carbohydrates and protein that your body needs. So besides eating the diet that’s correct for your body type the following nutritional supplements can be very helpful. We offer reflex testing that can help individualize a nutritional program as well as lab work can be employed to have a better understanding of your chemistry.
Magnesium
Magnesium is a sleep booster, Plus, by taking magnesium, you cancel out any potential heart problems .
Wild lettuce
If you've suffered anxiety, headaches, or muscle or joint pain, you might already be familiar with wild lettuce. It's also effective at calming restlessness and reducing anxiety—and may even quell restless legs syndrome. When using a wild-lettuce supplement, take 30 to 120 milligrams before bed.
Hops
Beer fans will no doubt be familiar with the calming effect of hops, the female flowers used in beer making. For sleep purposes, though, this extract has been widely used as a mild sedative for anxiety and insomnia. Take 30 to 120 milligrams before climbing under the covers.
Aromatherapy
Lavender is the trick here, as studies have proven that it aids in sleep. It's also a cheap, nontoxic way to slip into a peaceful slumber. Find a spray with real lavender and spritz it on your pillow before bedtime. Or buy a lavender-filled pillow.
Close your eyes and, for 5 to 10 minutes, pay attention to nothing but your breathing.
Valerian root.
This medicinal herb has been used to treat sleep problems since ancient times. “Valerian can be sedating and may help you fall asleep,” says Tracey Marks, MD, an Atlanta-based psychiatrist.
L-theanine.
This amino acid found in green tea leaves may help combat anxiety that interferes with sleep. A 2007 study showed that L-theanine reduced heart rate and immune responses to stress. It's thought to work by boosting the amount of a feel-good hormone your body makes. It also induces brain waves linked to relaxation. Talk to your doctor before taking it.
Put other appliances to bed, too. If you want a good, restful sleep, turn your appliances away from your bed. Or better yet, turn them off altogether. If you must use bedroom electronics, choose those illuminated with red light, which is better for sleep than blue light.
Give it up. If you don’t fall asleep within 30 minutes, sleep specialists recommend you get up and leave your bedroom or read. Then return to your bed to sleep when you feel tired again.
Bananas
They helped calm you down, bananas contain tryptophan, and potassium and magnesium as well, which are muscle relaxants. Have one a half-an-hour before bed every night and up your magnesium levels while simultaneously relaxing your muscles.
Drink a Cup of Chamomile
Chamomile has long been a reliable remedy for helping people doze off. It relaxes your muscles, and is thought that, potentially, a substance called apigenin can bind to GABA receptors which affect the central nervous system and sleepiness. Other studies have disagreed with apegign theory, and think other constituents in the chamomile are what act as a sedative. Either way, it’s tasty and it makes you tired. You can, of course, buy chamomile tea from the store, but I personally love it fresh as well.
You will need…
-A rounded ¼ cup of fresh chamomile flowers OR 2 rounded tablespoons of dry flowers
-Honey (optional)
-Milk (optional)
-Freshly squeezed lemon juice (optional)
Directions
There’s nothing quite as delightful as a cup of freshly brewed chamomile on a chilly night as you settle in for bed. If possible, try to use fresh flowers (German variety, preferably) but you can use dried as well if you cannot harvest fresh.
If you’re using fresh flowers, use only the flower heads and compost the stems. Place the flowers in a teapot, and in a separate pot bring 4 cups of cold water to a rolling boil. Pour the water in the pot over the flower in the tea pot. Let steep for 5-6 minutes and serve hot. Do the same process for dried as for fresh, but use 2 rounded tablespoons of dried flowers. Add a little bit of honey and milk to taste. Squeeze in the juice of a freshly sliced lemon to taste as well.
Cozy Up with Catnip
Catnip, a plant that is a member of the mint family, isn’t just for cats-it works a treat when it comes to having a sedative effect on humans. The compound responsible for catnip’s effects across both species is called nepetalactone. While it can make cats frisky and wild, it can make people relaxed, drowsy, and ready for bed. Enjoy it in the form of a warm tea before bed with a little bit of honey.
You will need…
-1-2 teaspoons of dried catnip OR 3-4 teaspoons of fresh catnip
-8 ounces of boiling water
-Honey to taste (optional)
Directions
Place catnip in a mug and cover with boiling water. Steep for 10 minutes, covered, and then add honey to taste if you like. Drink 30 minutes before bedtime.
Saint John’s Wort
Like lemon balm, Saint John’s Wort is used frequently to help with depression, and in turn helps with disrupted sleep. Its main constituent-hypercine- is thought to work by reuptake inhibition, which raises the overall level of serotonin in the brain. More serotonin = more melatonin= better sleep. You can take it in capsule form, or prepare a strong tea to use as a sleep aid.
You will need…
-2 teaspoons of dried Saint John’s Wort (herb top/flowers)
-8 ounces of freshly boiled water
-honey or lemon to taste (optional)
Directions
Place the herb in a mug and cover with boiling water. Steep for 5-10 minutes, strain, and drink once daily (either morning or 30-45 minutes before bed.)
Melatonin
Melatonin is the hormone that controls sleep, so it's no wonder that it naturally induces sleep. Although some experts recommend taking higher doses, studies show that lower doses are more effective. Plus, there's concern that too-high doses could cause toxicity as well as raise the risk of depression or infertility. Take 0.3 to 0.5 milligrams before bed.
Cherries: Not too hard to guess since cherry juice was one of the first things listed, but they also contain tryptophan which is metabolized into serotonin and finally melatonin
Install a dimmer switch
Late in the evening, your body releases the chemical melatonin, which makes you sleepy—but only if it receives the right cues from your environment. "Melatonin is your hormone of darkness—it won't flow with the lights on," says Walsleben. "You want to transition to dark as early as 9 or 10 o'clock." Sitting in a dimly lit room before getting ready for bed can put you in the right mind-set for sleep.
Breathing can help with sleep CLICK DID YOU EVER LEARN TO BREATHE
Sleep positions
For the best quality of sleep you need to support your neck and back in a way that relaxes the muscles along with spine. The proper sleep position will not only enhance the quality of sleep but will help prevent you from waking up with aches and pains. If you're someone who tosses and turns a lot at night you might benefit from a supplement called niacin. A time-released niacin tablet can keep your blood flowing in a way to make your muscles more relaxed and less likely to develop pressure points that require you to turn over. Stomach sleeping is the worst position that you can sleep in because you have to turn your neck all night to breathe and it stresses your low back. Side sleeping with the appropriate pillow thickness under your head to keep your neck and spine and align in keeping something you between your knees or for your bent knee a rest on it is important. For back sleeping support your neck not your head and consider a pillow under your knees.

Sacroiliac Joint Edema More Often Mechanical Than Inflammatory
The Study : Sacroiliac joint edema by MRI: Far more often mechanical than inflammatory
Reference: Berthelot JM, le Goff B, Maugars Y, Laredo JD. Sacroiliac joint edema by MRI: Far more often mechanical than inflammatory? Joint Bone Spine 2016 Jan;83(1):3-5. doi: 10.1016/j.jbspin.2015.08.013. Epub 2015 Oct 19
This study indicated that when you have low pain in the sacroiliac joint area or swelling it is usually do to misalignments. Sometimes just an independent inflammatory condition can be related to symptoms in this area but it is 20 to 100 times more likely to be due to a misalignment.
The authors cite one study which indicated that the SIJ rotates 7 to 8 degrees on average in the sagittal plane and up to a maximum of 17 degrees.
They also indicate that movement of the posterior superior spine of the illium relative to the sacrum ranges from 4 to 8mm.
These conditions can be quite painful in some cases and can involve the sciatic nerve that runs down the back of your leg to your toes. Government studies have shown that chiropractic care is the best treatment on the planet for all types of low back condition.

Understanding nutritional therapy
Most people today realize the importance of natural laws like proper diet and nutrition when it comes to good health. It was only about 45 to 50 years ago that even medical doctors weren’t so sure about that. I remember watching a debate between a cardiologist and a lay nutritional expert arguing about the importance of nutrition for healthy hearts. The cardiologist actually stated that foods are only needed for energy and there was no other nutritional benefit from eating foods. He totally dismissed the importance of vitamins and minerals and he was a doctor. So the fact that laypeople might have confusion about diet is understandable. There are 2 components about nutrition that I would like to speak to. One of those is diet and matching the proper ratio of fats, carbs and proteins to particular genetic makeup.
In some ways we’re all the same but in other ways we are different. Our genetic code determines how we utilize certain nutrients. Our body shapes will require different ratios of fats carbohydrates and proteins. So the foundation of proper nutrition is eating the right diet for your particular body type.
Nutritional therapy, using supplements to balance body chemistry, is the focus of this discussion. Just like each different body type requires a different ratio of fats carbs and proteins each individual has slightly different demands for certain nutrition. That’s one reason why a multivitamin is completely unable to supply what a given person needs. There are even some studies that show negative effects from taking multivitamins. We only give multivitamins in very specific cases. Our main goal is determining what nutrients are needed in reestablishing a better chemical balance as well as health status.
Different things can impact on your demand for nutrients, stress, exercise or the lack of exercise, disease, toxicity and many other factors. As these factors change your nutritional needs will change and so nutritional therapy is a dynamic and ever-changing approach towards health. The idea that you can take 4 or 5 nutrients that are most commonly talked about in the news is not the way to maintain good health.
Working with nutritional needs since 1976 I have found that nutritional therapy is quite a dynamic endeavor and one might need to change their program on a regular basis as her body reaches higher levels of function and health. We might pick up a nutrient that you need that you might only take for a week or a month or maybe over a year. Our testing procedures allows us to not only determine what nutrients or nutritional formula that you need but we can also determine how long you need to take that.
Many people don’t realize the advancements in nutritional therapy over the past 40 some years. The fact is with today’s knowledge there are very few health issues that can’t be effectively addressed. Acid reflux, cardiovascular disease, different hormonal imbalances, reoccurring infections, allergies and blood sugar disorders are just a few of the conditions that can respond. But the process isn’t as simple as we find a few nutritional formulas and you take those and everything clears up. It’s more complicated than that, because there can be several layers of dysfunction with any given problem. For instance you might have a blood sugar problem that could be related to the liver issue and adrenal gland dysfunction and an immune system disorder. Each of those will need to be addressed and sometimes in a specific order to resolve the original blood sugar problem. So during the process of treating the presenting blood sugar problem is going to be a time when we need to focus on the liver, and then the adrenals and lastly the immune system. Each of those could require separate nutritional approaches at separate times. Sometimes the body can’t address everything at once. So through periodic testing and re-addressing the nutritional program that you’re on full healing can take place over time.
When we go about developing an overall strategy to help someone recover their health certain testing might be indicated. A complete physical exam, blood work and other laboratory testing as well as Vega testing. Vega testing is a biofeedback form of testing that allows us to plug into your computer, so to speak, and pick up important information concerning your nutritional needs. Individualizing nutritional programs produce the best results in the long run. Vega testing allows us to individualize an approach and also minimize the number of nutrients needed in an effective program.
The most important part of the supplemental program is taking the supplements on a regular enough basis to get well. Some people have expressed difficulty in swallowing pills. There are a few secrets in making this process easier. One of them is taking your supplements with food, if were talking about tablets putting a little bit of butter on the tablet allows it to go down easier. Capsules are the easiest to swallow if you have the right head position. Capsules will float on water where tablets tend to sink. So when you’re swallowing a capsule lean your head forward and if you’re swallowing a tablet lean your head back. It’s best not to combine capsules and tablets if you have any problems swallowing pills. I have found when you’re taking in water right before you swallow the pill breathe in through your nose. This will help close off the windpipe so supplements don’t try to go down the wrong way and will make swallowing pills much easier.
Walking away from pain and developing strategies for wellness
Pain is the number 1 reason that people visit doctors of any type. Addressing the pain properly will have an impact on your level of wellness. Most people want to feel good, have plenty of energy, sleep like a baby and maintain good focus and mental function. Depending on how you deal with your pain will have an impact on all of these. Drugs will interfere with every one of these wellness goals. If you have pain then fix the reason for the pain. Suppressing PAIN with drugs leads to the overall toxic burden on the body and allows you to use a part that the body is trying to rest and protect. Correcting the cause of pain will allow full function to return to that part of the body without further damage.
When it comes to joint pain alignment is one of the key components of restoring normal function. Chiropractic physicians work on virtually every joint in the body restoring mobility and flexibility. Blood and nerve flow travels through joints in the body and thus can be interfered with due to misalignments. Inflammation is a result of chronic joint misalignmentsand can contribute to slow repair time.

EPA and DHA have two protective roles: First they lessen the synthesis and enhance clearance of cholesterol and triglycerides as well as inhibiting the uptake of another essential fatty acid which is substrate for the pro-aggregatory, pro-inflammatory and vasoconstrictive prostaglandin-2 series.

INFLAMASE The single most potent anti-inflammatory substance is A-Chymotrypsin. Although many supplements have Chymotrypsin-Trypsin combinations, only Inflamase contains pure A-Chymotrypsin. The addition of Bromelain, SOD, Catalase, and the enzymes listed above, make Inflamase the most complete broad spectrum anti-inflammatory currently available. During the inflammatory process, fibrinogen becomes polymerized into fibrin and impairs circulation within the affected tissue. The enzymes in Inflamase will circulate freely until they are impaired by this fibrin blockage. At this point theyadhere to fibrin, depolymerize the occlusion and restore drainage to the inflamed tissue.
Along with chiropractic treatments these 2 nutritional products can help get to the source of the pain and promote the healing of the tissues. Seek solutions for your health problems don’t just cover up the symptoms.

ALLERGIES
Spring and fall tend to be the worst times of the year for allergies. Some people will suffer year-round particularly if they have a mold or dust allergy. Allergies can be from a mild nuisance, mucus draining down the back of the throat, to a full blown attack where you have sneezing, congested sinuses, runny eyes and nose etc. many people who aren’t aware of natural healthcare just suppress their allergies with antihistamines. Most of those people don’t realize antihistamines suppress their immune system. Does that sound like a smart thing to do, suppressing your immune system? I have seen one study that associates chronic antihistamine use with cancer. Think about it for second if you chronically use antihistamines you’re chronically suppressing your immune system that is essential in keeping you well, particularly in defending against things like cancer.

At Keefe Clinic our number one remedy for allergies is our “Allergy Mix” which is a homeopathic dilution of all the antigens commonly found in Tulsa air. Not only do most people noticed immediate symptomatic relief when they start taking the mix, the mix is actually working at correcting the immune system dysfunction that leads to the allergy symptoms in the first place. The longer you take the mix the more permanent the immunity is to the pollens that affect you. Along with the allergy mix we usually recommend “companion products” that help support the immune system in regulating the allergic response. Some of these companion products include vitamins C, Quercetin or adrenal support of different types.

Aller-All (take three (3) tablets 1 to 2 times daily, preferably 20-30 minutes before meals) is a product that has most of the companion products to help support the allergy mix. Even though Aller-All gives a good natural antihistamine affect, without the allergy mix you won’t get a permanent cure. But Aller-All can be taken by itself. The allergy mix can only be purchased at our office as we custom make it for the local environment. Even though, our allergy mix can be custom-made to meet the particular needs of a given patient

Muscle pain
Muscle pain that hangs on can be annoying. Be it from an accident, beginning an exercise program or just sleeping in the wrong position, adjustments and trigger point therapy can be quite effective.
Sometimes you can have muscle problems due to toxicity and we offer several detox programs to help (Alkalize Detox Green Superfood 1 serving per day). Nutritional deficiencies can also play a part in muscle pain. Magnesium is the most deficient mineral in the American diet and many people need to supplement with magnesium. Magnesium Complex (2-4per day).
For muscle injuries Pain Relief Cream is extremely effective. Don’t forget to drink enough water because dehydration can lead to muscle problems: your water needs are based on your body weight. One half of your body weight in ounces is your flushing or cleansing dose, 80% of that is your minimum dose. For instance a 100 pound person, then 50 ounces is a cleansing dose and 40 ounces is the minimum dose per day in fluids.

INJURIES AND CAR ACCIDENTS
The number one cause for disability in any Western country is due to automobile accidents. What is even more concerning is patients will have marked disability 10 to 20 years after an accident in which they didn’t feel they were hurt. With any accident, be it a car accident or slip and fall, you can misaligned vertebrae in your neck or back that if not corrected will lead to degenerate over time. You can misaligned other joints like elbow joints, wrist, knee or ankle that because of mechanical friction arthritis can develop. Chiropractic adjustments of the neck, back, arm or leg can restore normal joint function and prevent degenerative changes.

Bromezyme and Rehab Forte are two supplements that can help in recovery from injury. Bromezyme is a blend of enzymes from pineapple that can help reduce inflammation. Rehab forte contains nutrients necessary for joint injury repair. Chiropractic adjustments and targeted nutritional therapy will go a long ways in preventing long-term disability from any injury. As the weather gets nicer and more cars are on the road car accidents can happen. If you had an accident of any kind call 918-663-1111 and get your injury corrected, don’t wait for signs of degeneration because by then you might have waited too late. Remember, in most cases insurance pays 100% of the care.

Stress disorders
When our stress handling system start to break down then we start to break down. When stress gets out of control our cardiovascular system, immune system, digestive system and hormonal system will start to suffer. Improper stress handling can affect our sleep, our attitude, our concentration and memory. The adrenals and the nervous system are the two areas to support first. Sereni-Pro (2-4 per day) is a great product to support the adrenal glands and glycoplex (1-2 per day) is a great B complex to support the nervous system. Chiropractic adjustments and exercise can help lessen the hormones of stress and improve your ability to handle stress a lot better.

Probiotic strain cures peanut allergies in 80 percent of children
Now scientists in Australia at the Murdoch Children's Research Institute are finding out that probiotics are the biggest step toward curing fatal peanut allergies in children. The 30 children involved in this study were allergic to peanuts at the onset. During the 18-month study, the children were given both peanut flour and a probiotic called Lactobacillus rhamnosus. After a year and a half, 80 percent of the children were able to tolerate peanuts. It appears that Lactobacillus rhamnosus is the missing piece of the children's immune systems. Lead researcher Mimi Tang said the families involved in the study were so impressed with the probiotic treatment that they said it "changed their lives."
Indeed, understanding the commensal bacteria system in the human body and supplementing with the appropriate bacteria could cure various allergies and protect the body from multiple pathogens.
"These findings provide the vital first step towards developing a cure for peanut allergy and possibly for all food allergies," Mimi Tang told Melbourne's Herald Sun. "It will be a major advance for medical science if we can find a treatment that is curative. It will change the lives completely for children and adults who have peanut allergies," she said.
CLICK TO ORDER Lactobacillus rhamnosus
Lactobacillus rhamnosus is often found in yogurt, but the amount used in the study was highly concentrated and was equivalent to 44 pounds of yogurt. By the end of the 18-month study, the children were able to tolerate up to 14 peanuts per day or four grams of peanut protein. The normal recovery rate during this time period is only 4 percent. The probiotic Lactobacillus rhamnosus boosts recovery from a meager 4 percent to an astounding 80 percent.
Chiropractic vs. Medicine:
Who is More Cost Effective
& Renders Better Outcomes for Spine?
By: Mark Studin DC, FASBE(C), DAAPM, DAAMLP
When we consider mechanical spine issues, we need to consider problems exclusive of fracture, tumor or infection. According to Houweling Et. Al. (2015) back pain effects 43% of the population over the course of a year. In addition, 33% of that group reported that their symptoms led to reduced productivity at work. In Switzerland, this accounted for 3% of their gross domestic products and equates to $14 Billion in US dollars. Chiropractic’s forte` and focus historically has been mechanical spine issues and when considering who the first provider that should be consulted, one needs to examine the scientific evidence based upon outcomes so that rhetoric has no place in utilization and the facts control the argument and direction of the patient.
Simply put, where should a patient go first because it has been proven conclusively that it is the best place to get better. From an insurance carrier and legislative perspective, the question goes one step further and examines the cost of care and wheat is the best solution in a cost-effective care-path realizing that often the government is the insurer or risk taker and even private carriers have a fiduciary responsibility to their stockholders to ensure a profitable return, while offering the best possible solutions for their insureds.
Day Et. Al. (2007) reported that only 26% of fourth year Harvard medical students had a cognitive mastery of physical medicine (pg. 452). Schmale (2005) reported “Incoming interns at the University of Pennsylvania took an exam of musculoskeletal aptitude and competence, which was validated by a survey of more than 100 orthopaedic program chairpersons across the country. Eighty-two percent of students tested failed to show basic competency. Perhaps the poor knowledge base resulted from inadequate and disproportionately low numbers of hours devoted to musculoskeletal medicine education during the undergraduate medical school years. Less than 1⁄2 of 122 US medical schools require a preclinical course in musculoskeletal medicine, less than 1⁄4 require a clinical course, and nearly 1⁄2 have no required preclinical or clinical course. In Canadian medical schools, just more than 2% of curricular time is spent on musculoskeletal medicine, despite the fact that approximately 20% of primary care practice is devoted to the care of patients with musculoskeletal problems. Various authors have described shortcomings in medical student training in fracture care, arthritis and rheumatology, and basic physical examination of the musculoskeletal system (pg. 251).
With continued evidence of lack of musculoskeletal medicine and a subsequent deficiency of training in spine care, particularly of biomechanical [Subluxation] orientation, the question becomes which profession has the educational basis, training and clinical competence to manage these cases? Let’s take a closer look at chiropractic education as a comparison. Fundamental to the training of doctors of chiropractic according to the American Chiropractic Association is 4,820 hours (compared to 3,398 for physical therapy and 4,670 to medicine) and receive a thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology. As a result, all accredited doctor of chiropractic degree programs focus a significant amount of time in their curricula on these basic science courses. So important to practice are these courses that the Council on Chiropractic Education, the federally recognized accrediting agency for chiropractic education requires a curriculum which enables students to be “proficient in neuromusculoskeletal evaluation, treatment and management.” In addition to multiple courses in anatomy and physiology, the typical curriculum in chiropractic education includes physical diagnosis, spinal analysis, biomechanics, orthopedics and neurology. As a result, students are afforded the opportunity to practice utilizing this basic science information for many hours prior to beginning clinical services in their internship.
To qualify for licensure, graduates of chiropractic programs must pass a series of examinations administered by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE). Part one of this series consists of six subjects, general anatomy, spinal anatomy, physiology, chemistry, pathology and microbiology. It is therefore mandatory for a chiropractor to know the structure and function of the human body as the study of neuromuscular and biomechanics is weaved throughout the fabric of chiropractic education. As a result, the doctor of chiropractic is expert in the same musculoskeletal genre that medical doctors are poorly trained in their doctoral education as referenced above.
A 2005 study byDeVocht, Pickar, & Wilder concluded through objective electrodiagnostic studies (neurological testing) that 87% of chiropractic patients exhibited decreased muscle spasms. This study validates the reasoning behind the later study that people with severe muscle spasms in the low back respond well to chiropractic care and this prevents future problems and disabilities. It also dictates that care should not be delayed or ignored due to a risk of complications.
The above statistic indicates that while medicine cannot conclude an accurate diagnosis in 85% of their back pain patients, chiropractic has already helped 87% of the same population. We also know that chiropractic is one of the safest treatments currently available in healthcare for spinal treatment and when there is a treatment where the potential for benefits far outweighs any risk, it deserves serious consideration. Whedon, Mackenzie, Phillips, and Lurie(2015) based their study on 6,669,603 subjects after the unqualified subjects had been removed from the study and accounted for 24,068,808 office visits. They concluded, “No mechanism by which SM [spinal manipulation] induces injury into normal healthy tissues has been identified”(p. 5).
Houweling Et. Al (2015) concluded “Patients who initially consulted with MDs were significantly less likely to be satisfied with the care received and the results of care compared with those who initially consulted DCs” (p. 480) and Adjusted mean costs per patient were significantly lower in patients initiating care with DCs compared with those initiating care with MDs. (p.480) “The findings of this study pertaining to patient satisfaction were in line with previous research comparing chiropractic care to medical care for back pain, which found that chiropractic patients are typically more satisfied with the services received than medical patients.” (p.481)
Houweling Et. Al (2015) continued “Mean total spinal, hip, and shoulder pain-related health care costs per patient during the 4-month study period were approximately 40% lower in patients initially consulting DCs compared with those initially consulting MDs. The reason for this difference was a lower use of health care services other than first-contact care in patients initially consulting DCs compared with those initially consulting MDs. Previous observational studies comparing medical and chiropractic care in terms of health care costs per patient have shown opposing results. Two studies conducted in the United States found that patients with low back pain treated in chiropractic clinics incurred higher costs than patients treated in medical clinics. One possible reason for these opposing findings is that differences were brought about by the methods of determining costs. In the studies conducted in the United States, costs were determined by chart audit, whereas in the present study, cost determinations were based on an insurance database review of all health care services used for the conditions investigated including the cost of visits to other health care providers.” Pg. 481
Perhaps the most telling point of Houweling Et. Al (2015) results were “Restrictive models of care in which patients are required to contact a medical provider before consulting a chiropractic provider may be counterproductive for patients experiencing the musculoskeletal conditions investigated and possibly others. In addition to potentially reducing health care costs, direct access to chiropractic care may ease the workload on MDs, particularly in areas with poor medical coverage and hence enabling them to focus on complex cases. The minority of patients with complex health problems initially consulting a chiropractic provider would be referred to, or co-managed with, a medical provider to provide optimal care. (p.481)
The above model not only suggests, but verifies that chiropractic should be the first choice or the primary spine care provider freeing up an already overburdened medical primary care provider’s office where they are not qualified to manage mechanical spine issues as reported above. This also helps resolve some of the issues in more rural regions where there is a shortage of primary care medical providers and positions the public to realize better outcomes and serves the insurers by ensuring lower costs.

Breaking the code of disease
Part of the challenge that any doctor has is trying to understand and to help a patient with a certain condition. In chiropractic and natural healthcare we take a totally different approach in treating our patients. Instead of using drugs that just suppress symptoms, at a cost of sometimes serious side effects, chiropractors try to focus on the underlying cause.
As a patient you might think that in healthcare there is a understanding of the cause for most disease, but you would be wrong. In our society most diseases are just suppressed not corrected. In natural healthcare and chiropractic we don't use suppressive drugs so we must try to understand the root cause in order to help the patient get well.
So what do we do if the cause is not generally recognized or understood? That's where we have to break the code of disease to try to get to the root cause. There are a number of diseases that most doctors would say we don't understand the cause yet chiropractic helps on a regular basis. That's because most doctors don't work with nutritional therapy, energy medicine or chiropractic adjustments.
To give you an example let's look at acid reflux which is a major problem in our society. The predominant approach is just to suppress acid production but of course this does not address the cause or offer a solution for the problem. In natural healthcare we understand the complexities of the digestive system and how it's impacted through the hormonal system, through emotions, through toxicity etc. so instead of writing a prescription that might turn off your acid production and thus compromise normal digestion, we have to unravel the cause in each patient's special circumstances. In natural healthcare/chiropractic one size doesn't fit all.
Besides standard tools like lab work, x-ray or physical exam we utilize a biofeedback technique that we call "Vega testing". This allows us, in many cases, to unravel the underlying cause of a given condition for each patient. For instance let's talk about chronic fatigue syndrome it's been my experience that what works for one patient doesn't necessarily work for the next. But with the understanding the body can heal itself and working with the body's intelligence we can usually unravel the hidden code for a particular condition.
We have discovered that not only can you be deficient in certain nutrients you can also be deficient in certain vibratory rates like sound or light (color). Your body is an electrical system, a chemical system and the mechanical system. And each of these systems can be the cause or part of the cause for your condition.
Let me give you an example: back in the 80s the diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome was first presented. Even today the consensus is that we don't understand what causes chronic fatigue syndrome. There's more than enough theories on the cause but there is no definitive cause presented. Yet we have gotten very good results by taking each patient as an individual and unraveling the code of their particular condition by investigation of electrical/chemical/mechanical systems and addressing the faults we find in each.
Do you or a family member or friend suffer from any chronic condition? Tell someone about chiropractic today. Natural healthcare is the fastest growing system in healthcare today. First of all it's safe and effective.
You would think healthcare would be a straightforward profession of people who just want to help other people get well. Unfortunately politics and rivalry gets involved with healthcare as well. Soon after the AMA was started, its attack on other professions was one of their main jobs. Most people think the AMA is a public service organization but they would be wrong because the AMA is a union for medical doctors. Like any other union their main job is to make the working environment for their members as profitable as possible. Part of that strategy included demonizing other professions that they saw as competitors. In the past, medicine has fought battles to limit the practices of such professionals as homeopaths, naturopaths, osteopaths, podiatrists, optometrists, dentists, psychologists and chiropractors. In the case of osteopathy and chiropractic, there are distinct differences in the approach to healing and health when compared to medicine. The last thing that organized medicine wants is for their doctrine of drugs and surgery to be challenged.
For dentists they had oral surgeons, for podiatrist and chiropractic physicians they had orthopedic surgeons. And for osteopaths they were the alternative. So if they could eliminate those other professions that would mean more money in the pockets of their members, they gave up the fight against dentistry years ago they saw that was a losing battle. Even though you might not hear a lot about propaganda against podiatry it's still there to some degree. When it comes to surgery on the foot and leg podiatrist tend to have the more sophisticated and effective techniques yet you won’t hear that from the AMA. When I was in school the osteopathic profession set down with the medical profession and worked out a truce. Today you won’t hear much animosity between these two professions though when I’ve talked to osteopaths they still say they’re treated like second-class citizens from the medical profession. But it seems their fight against chiropractic has historically been their most vicious. I assume they saw the writing on the wall that the stronger chiropractic got the more they would lose a share of the patient population. Because studies show when patients have equal access they pick natural healthcare over drugs and surgery by a large numbers.
It was in 90s that the AMA commissioned a study on health practices and found more people were visiting doctors like chiropractic physicians then medical physicians. That was a shock to them and they immediately started to propagate changes in insurance coverage so more and more people would lose their access to chiropractic. Sometime back I believe in the 20’s they change the committee's name that was fighting chiropractic to the “committee on quackery”. Very interesting use of language.
Medicine's opposition to chiropractic was at its strongest under the leadership of Morris Fishbein. Fishbein as Secretary of the American Medical Association from 1924 to 1949, lead a 50 year anti-chiropractic campaign in both professional publications and the public media. Fishbein called chiropractors "rabid dogs" and referred to them as "playful and cute..but killers." He tried to portray chiropractors as members of an unscientific cult, caring about nothing but taking their patients money.
I guess since over 3000 people a week die from medical care they never heard the adage people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Any given year that you calculate death rates from the CDC website you will find that medicine is either the first or second leading cause of death. It takes a little work adding up all the different categories that they have listed under medical care but that’s been true for a long time. Chiropractic is not only the safest of the three largest healthcare professions in the US but we have the lowest malpractice rates. I guess that’s something Fishbein did not look into on his campaign against chiropractic.
In the October 1976, Chiropractic sued the AMA in federal court for discrimination and won the case. Wilk, et al vs. the AMA, et al It took several years because the AMA played every legal trick in the book but as soon as the case was brought many medical concerns quickly settled and stop their anti-chiropractic rhetoric. In 1987 , following 11 years of legal action, a federal appellate court judge ruled that the AMA had engaged in a “lengthy, systematic, successful and unlawful boycott” designed to restrict cooperation between MDs and chiropractors in order to eliminate the profession of chiropractic as a competitor in the United States health care system.
During the preceedings it was shown that the AMA attempted to:
Undermine Chiropractic schools
Undercut insurance programs for Chiropractic patients
Conceal evidence of the effectiveness of Chiropractic care
Subvert government inquires into the effectiveness of Chiropractic
Promote other activities that would control the monopoly that the AMA had on health care
(This was upheld by the 7th United States Circuit Court of Appeals.)
The AMA offered a patient care defense; however, data from Workmen's Compensation Bureau studies served to validate chiropractic care. Specifically, studies comparing chiropractic care to care by a medical physician were presented which showed that chiropractors were “twice as effective as medical physicians, for comparable injuries, in returning injured workers to work at every level of injury severity.”
The settlement of the suit included an injunctive order in which the AMA was instructed to cease its efforts to restrict the professional association of chiropractors and AMA members. The AMA was also ordered to notify its 275,000 members of the court's injunction. In addition, the American Hospital Association (AHA) sent out 440,000 separate notices to inform hospitals across the United States that the AHA has no objection to allowing chiropractic care in hospitals.
Since the court findings and conclusions were released, a growing number of medical doctors, hospitals, and health care organizations in the United States have begun including the services of chiropractors.
But for several years that term "quack" has been identified with natural healthcare practitioners particularly chiropractic which is the largest of natural healthcare practice in the world. What was both amusing and sad is during the deposition of the leader of that group it was shown how dishonest and despicable their activities were. One of the general claims against chiropractic is that chiropractic care caused multiple deaths. Not only was this claim unfounded, during the deposition he had to admit he had no proof of that claim but that was just his personal belief based on no objective findings. But no matter how immoral and how dishonest their activities were they did have an effect. There are people today who will not take a vitamin or go to a natural health care practitioner particularly a chiropractic physician because of the propaganda they heard years ago. But since they lost the court case they closed down the most egregious propaganda outlets. Now they still have friends in the private sector that will be glad to regurgitate their propaganda but they no longer can officially be involved with it. So they have been working underground more to reduce chiropractic coverage in insurance.
As mentioned earlier the court case showed that not only was chiropractic not effective, which they preached for years, but it was twice as effective as their approaches for the same condition. Ouch! The government did a study on low back pain which is the number one health condition in the United States and found the most effective treatment on the planet was spinal manipulation (adjustments). On December 8, 1994, the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research (AHCPR) of the US Department of Health and Human Services. It's unfortunate that lies can hang around for period of time but that's all they ever were, lies. When people are given equal access to chiropractic care or medical care they choose natural healthcare more often. That's why you find some insurances not having full access to chiropractic, the AMA still has their hand in the pot working behind the scenes.
With a number of conditions that chiropractic can safely and effectively treat growing all the time chiropractic should be your first approach. Chiropractic is both safe and effective and chiropractors refer to other professions more than the reverse. If medical doctors followed the government guidelines for just low back pain there would not be enough chiropractors in practice to serve all the people suffering from this condition. Yet some in the medical profession would rather have their patients suffer then refer them to the most effective treatment on the planet, how sad. Fortunately that trend has been changing over the past several years and as the older medical doctors die off more people will be referred to safe and effective chiropractic care. A high percentage of the new medical doctors coming into practice are turned off by politics. They realize the dangers of pain pills and are referring more of their patients to chiropractic physicians based on research not politics.
Chiropractic first, drug second and surgery last
is a model to live by.

Common sense approach to heart problems
Do the “experts” know what they’re doing?
Most people realize that heart disease is not due to a drug deficiency or lack of preventive surgeries. Heart disease is both a lifestyle and diet problem. The most current research points to inflammation, not cholesterol, as the cause for most heart disease. But based on current medical procedures this information is totally ignored. Probably the biggest reason that this information is ignored is that pharmaceutical companies drive most medical research and thus medical procedures. Pharmaceutical companies are multibillion-dollar enterprises that primarily fund and direct medical practice. Pharmaceutical companies are looking after their bottom line not necessarily your health.
The cholesterol theory of heart disease has failed to be established by major research. In fact it has been said that every cholesterol study for the past 50 years has failed. The Framingham study is the longest-running study on heart disease and diet. It has found that over the age of 45 people who have a higher cholesterol level outlive the people who have a lower cholesterol level. You might want to read that statement one more time. Cholesterol is a bystander in the coronary heart disease epidemic. Inflammation and other factors damage the lining of the blood vessel. White blood cells sensing the damage enter in to the damaged area and pull in cholesterol, calcium and laydown fibrin in an attempt to heal the damage. Because the factors that are driving the inflammation continue the corresponding plaque builds up over time.
Within the inflammation soup you have chlorine, fluoride, methane gas from the intestines and acidic byproducts from an improper diet that make up the insult to the blood vessels. Also hormones like insulin are pro-inflammatory and thus too much junk food and refined carbohydrates play a role in the inflammation process.
Medical approaches have been shown through research to be very ineffective at addressing coronary heart disease. Yes they can reduce cholesterol numbers with drugs but as the Framingham study indicates that just increases the patient’s risk of death. Let’s just cover some of the common medical procedures. First we’ll talk about balloons and stents: in 2003 the Mayo Clinic found that these procedures did not reduce complaints, did not prevent heart attacks, did not prolong life, did not reduce the frequency of heart attacks or deaths and the flattening of plaque in the vessel walls not only regularly lead to bleeding into the vessel walls but small lumps became detached and floated into the bloodstream causing acute heart attack. The bottom line is stents increased death rates.
Stents cause higher death rate
New England Journal of Medicine, Cindy L Grines, M.D. Beaumont cardiologist
Worldwide study involve 900 patients at 62 centers. All patients in the study were treated within 12 hours of the heart attack. A higher death rate (2.4% stent and angioplasty versus 2.7% angioplasty) they also unexpectedly experienced decreased blood flow from stent placements. Dr. Grines says "the higher mortality rate and decrease in blood flow makes it necessary for additional research to be conducted before routine stenting can be recommended as a standard of care."
It appears no one is studying the research.
Although catheterization and stents have been claimed to be life-saving measures, they do not prevent heart attacks or save lives. This intervention is accompanied by a great placebo effect. Conclusions.... We could not demonstrate a long-term benefit of an early invasive strategy in reducing death or MI (invasive versus conservative treatment in unstable coronary syndromes ICTUS (invasive versus conservative treatment of unstable coronary syndromes)
Heart bypass not effective long-term
The average death rate for bypass surgery is greater than the average death rate of heart patients treated without surgery. Heart disease progresses faster in those who have had invasive surgery and in those treated non-surgically. Heart surgery kills thousands of patients per year and debilitate thousands more.
Benefits of taking aspirin each day

Aileen Clark, professor of public health and research director at Warwick medical school, said, "It is clear that there is an incredible fine balance between the possible benefits and risk of intervention. We need to be extremely careful about over promoting aspirin intervention without having 1st fully understood these negative side effects."
NSAIDs may cause 20% of all heart failures and cause high blood pressure

Rational approaches to preventing and treating coronary heart disease.
Chiropractic
Chiropractic adjustments help balance the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems.
Multiple studies show people with ischemic heart disease have a decreased parasympathetic activity by over 30%. Over 80% of ischemic events are preceded by a dramatic reduction of parasympathetic activity.
Diet
The important thing about diet is that there are different body types that require different eating programs. Studies show the global use of the Heart Association diet has failed in every country that it has been tested in. So the first thing we need to do is determine your body type and get you eating the correct ratio of fats, carbohydrates and protein for your genetic makeup. Next we need to make sure were maximizing the reduction of inflammation. Besides eating the right diet there are key foods like salmon and tuna, certain vegetables and fruits that are high in antioxidants like pomegranate and blueberries. Eating properly reduces the inflammation that leads to heart disease. Along with diet targeted nutrition to support the heart and healthy blood vessels is crucial to recovery.
PH is important when it comes to inflammation and most people who have inflammatory issues are usually very acidic. Again diet can control pH and drinking alkaline water can be beneficial. As we talk about water we need to talk about a whole host of chemicals in the water that can damage your cardiovascular system. The chlorine/chloramine, fluoride can damage the arteries. Studies have shown trace amounts of pharmaceutical drugs in city water supplies that need to be filtered out. Drink clean water, dehydration can lead to inflammation. The formula for water intake is that your cleansing dose is half your body weight in ounces and your minimum dose is 80% of that. I hundred pound person should drink between 40 and 50 ounces of fluids every day.
Exercise
30 minutes of exercise 3+ times a week can improve heart function and reduce stress hormones that can lead to ischemic reactions to the heart and increase blood pressure. Intense exercise can be a problem if you don’t eat a large amount of antioxidants because intense aerobic exercises can increase the oxygen level of your blood to a point of inflammation because oxygen is acidic. So too much intense exercise can actually have a negative effect on your heart health depending on your antioxidant intake.
Relaxation
Meditation and/or prayer have been shown to extend life and improve health recovery when practiced on a regular basis. Music, nature walks, family time are just a few of the things that can help the stress the nervous system and thus the body.
Detoxification
Heavy metals, certain chemicals in our environment as well as waste products from normal metabolism can a burden to the body and contribute to heart disease. Fasting, detox diets and supplements targeted at the detox pathways can be important for health recovery.
Most people who have symptoms of heart disease and follow the above program would notice improvement of symptoms within a few days to a couple of weeks and be totally symptom-free and out of trouble within a months’ time. This represents a rational approach to eliminating heart disease over the long-term.

Blueberries are a great source of resveratrol and other antioxidants, along with dietary fiber, vitamins C and K and manganese. All things in moderation. That's what my mom always said, and I think it is sound advice, especially in light of the results of recent survey. |
A study published in June in the suggests that consuming too many antioxidants, such as the resveratrol found in red wine, may block some of the health benefits of exercise, specifically reduced blood pressure and cholesterol.
This study was performed on men around 65 years old, so it isn't clear whether the results would be similar for women or other age groups. The men weren't drinking wine, but they were taking resveratrol supplements, of 250 milligrams daily.
Let's put this into context. The amount of resveratrol found in one glass of wine can range from 0.2 milligrams to 2.0 mg, according to the Linus Pauling Institute. While250 mg may seem excessive, it's not uncommon for resveratrol supplements. to include as much as 900 milligrams of resveratrol. [Top 10 Bad Things That Are Good For You]
So what does this tell us? All things in moderation (thanks, mom). In truth, more research must be done to determine whether there could be ill effects from consuming too much of any one antioxidant, but until then, I suggest going the natural route. If you want to get more resveratrol, consume it in your diet. This way, you'll get more than just one isolated nutritional component, and you'll also get fiber that will tell you when it's time to stop eating.
Here are four foods that are good sources of resveratrol:
Red Grapes: Grapes don't have to be fermented to contain this antioxidant. It's actually found in the skin of red grapes along with other nutrients, such as minerals manganese and potassium and vitamins K, C and B1.
Peanut Butter: Peanut butter is great for dressing up apples and celery, but it also contains some resveratrol (up to .13 mg per cup). Peanut butter is a great source of niacin and manganese.
Dark Chocolate: In dark chocolate, resveratrol blends nicely with other antioxidants and also minerals, such as iron, copper and manganese. Who doesn't like chocolate?
Blueberries: Blueberries don't have quite as much resveratrol as grapes, but they are also a great source of other antioxidants, dietary fiber, vitamins C and K and manganese.
You may already consume a fair amount of resveratrol. It's found in foods such as peanuts, pistachios, grapes, red and white wine, blueberries, cranberries, and even cocoa and dark chocolate. The plants from which these foods come make resveratrol to fight fungal infection, ultraviolet radiation, stress, and injury.

Over the years patients have asked this question, due to things that they’ve heard on both sides of the question. So let’s look at the First component. Are vaccines safe? What kind of safety testing is done on vaccines? And what is in vaccines?
As far as what is in vaccines, that question might be difficult to fully answer because there is some evidence that the manufacturers are not required to list everything. But here’s what we know for sure: Vaccines contain aluminum, antibiotics, egg protein, formaldehyde, monosodium glutamate and Thimerosal; a mercury-containing preservative.
Varicella (chickenpox), rubella, hepatitis A, shingles and one preparation of rabies vaccine are all made in fetal embryo fibroblast cells. These cells were first obtained from elective termination of two pregnancies in the early 1960s.
Other ingredients include soy and other proteins, artificial colors and sweeteners. A complete list can be found on the CDC’s website under “Vaccine Excipients and Media Summary”.
Some suspect that there are unstated ingredients like peanut oil.
“There is adequate scientific evidence that peanut oil (arachis oil) has been used in vaccines since the 1960's. If current vaccine package inserts do not contain the specific evidence that peanut oil, or peanut meal, is contained within the final vaccine product, it does not mean that peanut antigen is not in the final vaccine product. Vaccine manufacturers use different growth media on which to manufacture the vaccines. They do not report, and I believe are not required to report, the exact ingredients in all of the growth media. Therefore, we may not know whether peanut antigen is used in the vaccine manufacturing process just by reading through the package inserts. Our lack of knowledge about it does not mean it isn’t knowledge waiting to be discovered. And, it may, or may not, have anything to do with an attempt to purposely hide the information that peanut antigen is present in vaccines.” Lawrence Palevsky MD
Now if we look at the two main toxic metals that are in most childhood vaccines this becomes a potential health disaster. If you consider that the average person, by age 18 receive 69 doses of 16 different vaccines that’s a lot of mercury and aluminum. When you see the following quotes and statements from those who are supposed to be experts, you have to wonder: “Unfortunately, there is limited experience regarding the toxicity of Thimerosal and the content of mercury it presents, despite the long history of use. Robert Pless, M.D. National Immunization Program, CDC.” —– “In 1999, FDA determined that under the recommended childhood immunization schedule, infants might be exposed to cumulative doses of ethyl mercury that exceed some federal safety guidelines established for ingestion of methylmercury, another form of organic mercury.”
If that’s not disturbing enough here some of the things we know about the effects of aluminum and mercury:
How Aluminum Affects Neurological Health: - Reduces nervous system activity by blocking the action potential of nerve cells - Inhibits enzymes in the brain- Inhibits the uptake of Dopamine, Noradrenaline (Norepinephrine), and Serotonin by nerve cells
Symptoms of aluminum toxicity: flatulence, headaches, colic, dryness of skin and mucous membranes, tendency for colds, burning pain in the head relieved by food, heartburn, aversion to meat also other associated aluminum problems can be Alzheimer’s disease, hyperparathyroidism, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, kidney dysfunction, liver dysfunction, anemia, neuromuscular disorder, hemolysis, leukocytosis, osteomalacia, Parkinson’s disease, and the list goes on.
Mercury is known to cause the following symptoms: mood swings, nervousness, irritability, and other emotional changes, insomnia, headache, abnormal sensations, muscle twitching, tremors, weakness, muscle atrophy, and decreased cognitive functions.
Not only does the government admit that these toxic metals exceed their own guidelines for safety the potential for allergic responses to all the other ingredients is quite troubling when you see the amount of food allergies showing up in the average child.
Now when you’re trying to balance risk and benefit it’s important that you have all the facts. And the fact is today that most childhood diseases are not life-threatening for the vast majority of children. 100 years ago that was a different story. In fact the prevalence of these diseases was substantially higher than they are today. Those who are pro-vaccine like to attribute the vaccines for the lower rate of disease but history doesn’t bear that out. In fact as you look at most childhood diseases like measles both the infection rate and the death rate were already in sharp decline before vaccines.
Medical historians say that better sanitation, cleaner water and better food supply have made more of an overall improvement to public health than any medical intervention has. Most disease graphs will show you these childhood diseases were in sharp decline before the vaccines were introduced. When the vaccines were introduced there was an uptick in the cases of the disease before the decline continued. And so, in my opinion, the benefit is somewhat questionable. If you look at, for instance measles, the risk-benefit is that most kids will have a fever and feel uncomfortable for about a week and then have lifetime immunity. In fact in the past parents chose to engage in what were called “measles parties” where they would intentionally expose their kids to someone with the measles so they could develop a lifetime immunity. As far as the vaccinated population there have been many breakthrough occurrences of the childhood disease in the fully vaccinated population. Also keep in mind the MMR vaccine is one of the most prone to damage of all of vaccines based on the “Vaccine court” records.
The other side of the safety issue is what kind of studies have been done to assure the vaccines are safe? For instance if you are a drug manufacturer and you want to bring a new drug to market, one of the types of testing you need to do is compare the effect of your drug to a placebo. In other words you’ll give a group of people your medication and another group gets a placebo which is classically called a sugar pill. In other words a placebo should be a substance that causes no negative or positive side effects. That way you can clearly see the negative effects the drug might have as well as the positive ones.
Not so with vaccines. To my knowledge vaccine safety studies are the only ones that compare one drug to another drug. In other words, instead of using the placebo they use another vaccine as the placebo. Outrageous; this is one of the best ways to cover some of the side effects of the vaccine. With this dishonest safety study method it’s impossible to properly evaluate a vaccine’s safety.
Let’s talk a second about effectiveness. Let’s say you want to bring a drug to market that you say reduces heart attacks. So how would you determine that? Again you would have a population where half get the drug and the other half you give a placebo or give nothing at all and study the effects in both groups. Let’s say the drug group had 20 heart attacks and the placebo group had 80 by the end of the study. This would give you some idea that maybe the medication does prevent heart attacks.
But how do they determine the effectiveness of a vaccine? There are plenty in the population of unvaccinated kids and adults. It would be easy enough to do the above study but that’s not how they determine it, if it’s a vaccine. All they have to do is show antibody production after a vaccine, and they put a lot of stuff in a vaccine including heavy metals to stimulate an immune response. So they don’t have to show any difference between vaccinated populations and unvaccinated population to prove effectiveness. In my opinion this is a farce.
The bottom line is that we have to listen to either the loudest voice or the one that has the authority to punish you if you don’t comply. It’s disturbing how the use of intimidation, fear and outright lies are used to promote vaccines. If you’re a nurse you know what I’m talking about Maybe you’re a believer but still you have to admit that you’ve been trained to misrepresent the possible side effects when you’re talking to patients.
In Oklahoma you still have the right to choose between vaccinating your child or not. A simple exemption form available from the school nurse or the Oklahoma State Department of Health called the ODH form 216 – A, many of my patients tell me when they asked for such a form the school nurse she lies to them and says there is no such form and your child can’t come to school without being vaccinated. Why would there be an organized conspiracy of deception if there is clear evidence that vaccines are both safe and effective?
Is every child who gets a vaccine going to be severely damaged by it? Of course not. There are a lot of different factors that lead to reactions from vaccines. But all negative reactions to vaccines don’t always show up in the first month, year or even decade of life. Not only can the toxic metals and other additives to vaccines have the potential of causing long-term negative effects but the organism that they use in the vaccine has been known to set up housekeeping in the body commonly in the intestinal track producing long-term health problems.
Detoxification can be an important process in trying to eliminate the negative effects of vaccines. We recommend detoxification as a normal course of health recovery for most of our patients. But in some cases specialized procedures are needed to try to root out the viruses that have been hiding in the body for years that have caused inflammation, cancers and other health problems. Again not everybody has these issues but, in my opinion, it brings up a risk-benefit evaluation that goes against vaccines.
A lot of times, if you look behind the hysteria associated with an outbreak like with measles, you’ll find in the vast majority of cases there is no long-term permanent catastrophic effect. The same can’t be said for children in third world countries who have horrible sanitation, dirty water and poor food supply. There you will find the very negative outcomes from the same diseases. In Africa they have found that giving a child one dose of 200,000 units of vitamin A will sharply decrease the death rate. There are more intelligent ways to deal with these childhood diseases then injecting toxic metals and other ingredients.
Just this week on an NPR station there was a heartbreaking story about the MMR vaccine. The parents had a healthy baby meeting all his developmental goals up to the point of getting the vaccine. They say on the way home from getting the vaccine the young child screamed constantly to the point they had to pull the car over to the side of the road. The child had a fever and when he woke up the next morning he was not the same child. The child suffered catastrophic brain injury that left him totally disabled into his adulthood. He has to be constantly monitored as he will run away if given the chance and has to wear adult diapers for the rest of his life.
I have found Studies that show unvaccinated children are a lot healthier than vaccinated ones. Buyer beware.
Here is one: A 20 year old study from the 1990’s has recently surfaced that compares unvaccinated children to vaccinated children. The study concludes that those who were vaccinated were more likely to suffer from the following illnesses:
- asthma
- eczema
- ear infections
- hyperactivity
- and many other chronic conditions.
There was a 10-fold increase in cases of tonsillitis in the children who were vaccinated and a 100% absence of tonsillitis in those unvaccinated.
In 1992, the Immunization Awareness Society (IAS) conducted a survey to examine the health of New Zealand’s children. Unsurprisingly, the results of their study indicated that unvaccinated children were far healthier than vaccinated children.
Questionnaires were given out to IAS members, their friends and their associates asking various health questions. A total of 245 families returned their questionnaires, giving the researchers a total of 495 children surveyed. Of these children, 226 were vaccinated and 269 were unvaccinated.
Healthy Children and Ethics
The ages of the children ranged between the ages of two weeks – 46 years (obviously some friends were older with older children). Of the children studied, 273 were males and 216 were females. (Six children were unclassified.) Sue Claridge, who reported on the study, wrote: “Respondents were asked to provide the year of birth, gender, vaccinations received, whether or not the child suffered from a range of chronic conditions (asthma, eczema, ear infections/glue ear, recurring tonsillitis, hyperactivity, diabetes or epilepsy) whether or not he or she needed grommets, had had a tonsillectomy, or were shown to develop motor skills (walking, crawling, sitting-up etc.). Parents also provided information on breastfeeding and bottle feeding and when a child was weaned if breastfed.”During the study, another interesting fact emerged. Researchers discovered that 92 percent of the children requiring a tonsillectomy operation had received the measles vaccination, indicating that the vaccination for measles may have made some of the children more susceptible to tonsillitis. The study also revealed that 81 of the families had both vaccinated and unvaccinated children. Many of these families had vaccinated their older children but had grown more reluctant to vaccinate their younger children, due to their growing concerns regarding vaccine safety. Researchers concluded that: “While this was a very limited study, particularly in terms of the numbers of unvaccinated children that were involved and the range of chronic conditions investigated, it provides solid scientific evidence in support of considerable anecdotal evidence that unvaccinated children are healthier that their vaccinated peers.” [1] Although governments from around the world have continually stated that studying vaccinated versus unvaccinated children would be unethical, the New Zealand researchers are not the only group of researchers to study comparisons.
Vaccinated Children 5 Times More Likely To Suffer From A Range Of Diseases
In September 2011, German researchers carrying out a longitudinal study surveyed a total of 8000 unvaccinated children from the ages of 0 –19. As with the New Zealand study, researchers collected their data by conducting a survey using questionnaires. [2] Results showed that vaccinated children were up to five times more likely to suffer from a variety of diseases and disorders than unvaccinated children. Their results were compared to another German study (KiGGS), which examined a larger sample group consisting of 17,461 participants between the ages of 0 –17. Dr. Andreas Bachair, a German classical homeopathic practitioner, responsible for collecting the results of the survey from the website vaccineinjury.info stated that:“Asthma, hay fever and neurodermatitis are seen very frequently today. A recent German study with 17461 children between 0-17 years of age (KIGGS) showed that 4.7% of these children suffer from asthma, 10.7% of these children from hay fever and 13.2% from neurodermatitis. These numbers differ in western countries, i.e. the prevalence of asthma among children in the US is 6% whereas it is 14-16% in Australia (Australia’s Health 2004, AIHW). The prevalence of asthma among unvaccinated children in our study is around 2.5%, hay fever, 3%, and neurodermatitis, 7%. According to the KIGGS study more than 40% of children between the ages of 3 and 17 years were sensitized against at least one allergen tested (20 common allergens were tested) and 22.9% had an allergic disease. Although we did not perform a blood test, around 10% stated that their children had an allergy.” [3] (As this study is a longitudinal study, the number of children being studied has since risen to 13,222. To join the study, you can fill in the questionnaire provided by clicking on the link listed as the third reference at the end of this article.) Although there were four cases of autism reported among unvaccinated children, Dr. Bachair reported that: “Of these 4 children one tested very high for metals (mercury, aluminium, arsenic); in another case the mother was tested very high for mercury.” However, this number pales into insignificance when we compare it to the 1 in 88 children currently being reported as autistic by the CDC. [4]
Other Conditions Found To Be Almost Non-Existent In Unvaccinated Children
Dr. Andreas Bachair continued her report by stating that their study found the prevalence of sinusitis, warts, skin problems and middle ear infections were also much lower in the unvaccinated children, as were the cases of diabetes and epilepsy. She went on to say that the results demonstrated that the prevalence of many conditions in the unvaccinated children were also significantly lower. These were: “Other disorders and diseases As we included open questions in our survey we evaluated the prevalence (of the first 10,070 participants) of some other disorders and illnesses. Unvaccinated children show very low prevalences of the following disorders:
- Speech delay/articulation problems: 0.38%
- Sensory Processing disorder: 0.28%
- Gluten sensitivity: 0.41%
- GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease): 0.06%”
Dr. Bachair concluded her amazing and intuitive paper by adding a number of statements from parents, which I believe really added weight to her overall findings.
No study of health outcomes of vaccinated people versus unvaccinated has ever been conducted in the U.S. by CDC or any other agency in the 50 years or more of an accelerating schedule of vaccinations (now over 60 doses of 14 vaccines given before kindergarten, 26 doses in the first year). Most data collected by CDC is contained in the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) database. The VAERS is generally thought to contain only 3 to 5 percent of reportable incidents. This is simply because only some immediate reactions are reported by doctors; but many are not admitted to be reactions to the vaccine. Most importantly, the VAERS numbers are only immediate reactions, which would take place within a few hours to a few weeks. Long-term vaccine-induced diseases and disorders are not recognized by parents or doctors when these conditions develop perhaps a few months to five years or more and would never be realized to come from multiple vaccinations. In other words, many children and adults have diseases and disorders that are vaccine induced and they never suspect they are from the vaccines, as this study indicates.
Conclusion
We find it amazing that despite mainstream media and leading government agencies stressing repeatedly that studies comparing vaccinated children to unvaccinated children cannot take place for ethical reasons, groups around the world are taking it upon themselves to do these studies anyway.
While surveys of this kind are often dismissed as being purely epidemiological and passed off as little more than stamp collecting, we believe that studies of this nature should not be dismissed out of hand. After all, many stamp collections contain just one stamp that is worth far more than its weight in gold.
These studies show without doubt that unvaccinated children are healthier than their vaccinated peers and, for this reason, these studies should be given careful consideration by all parents and professionals studying vaccination safety.

A new study confirms that chiropractic care is an effective, safe way to treat sacroiliac joint pain.
CLICK PIC
The sacroiliac joint, or SI joint, is located at the base of the spine where the sacrum and pelvis connect to one another. SI joint pain can have a number of causes. Leg length discrepancies, pain or altered function of the hip, leg, and knee, and pregnancy are all common causes of SI joint pain. In pregnancy, the body produces hormones that cause the ligaments to relax. This can allow excessive movement in the SI joint, causing the bones to rub against each other.

In this new study, researchers performed a single chiropractic session on 32 women with SI joint syndrome. The patients reported immediate relief and experienced significant reduction of pain after both 48 hours and one month after treatment.
This adds to research demonstrating that chiropractic is a powerful, drug-free way to treat musculoskeletal pain.
