IN THE NEWS: Please Don't Be Conned by This Health Fraud, No Matter How Much You Want to Trust It Conflicts of interest between government and industry allow dangerous drugs to be approved and aggressively marketed. The drug industry also spends billions a year on TV ads — revenue from just nine prescription drugs was worth $100 million in one year — which also stifles negative news stories about Pharma. Even so-called “public” media like PBS and NPR have accepted money from GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and UnitedHealthcare. Similar conflicts of interest exist at medical journals, universities, medical associations, advocacy groups and government agencies, including those that are supposed to regulate the drug industry. The result is the Ghost in the Machine that we live with today — deceived patients taking expensive, often dangerous drugs and soaring health costs. Advertising revenues and industry board members prevent mainstream media from reporting on Pharma corruption. Because of Pharma influence in academia and publishing, a lot of health research is biased and misleading. This is how Dr. Terrence Norchi, president and CEO of Arch Therapeutics, explains the profitable new partnerships. “For the past 15 years, the pipelines of the big [drug] companies have been drying up ... At the same time, there is a tremendous amount of pressure on academic institutions in this country and abroad. To survive, many universities will have to find creative ways to make themselves more relevant. There are opportunities to mutually solve these challenges between academia and industry.” Such Pharma/academia partnerships date back to the Bayh-Dole Act of 1980, which allowed universities to "patent discoveries that stem from government-funded research and then license them exclusively to companies in return for royalties," wrote Marcia Angell, former editor-in-chief of the New England Journal of Medicine and Harvard lecturer, in the Boston Review. Natural, safer and less expensive treatments are discredited by mainstream medicine, raising everyone's health care costs.

CONDITION OF THE WEEK: Here’s what some of our patients have said about how chiropractic and nutritional therapy has helped them: HI, my husband and I have been trying to start a family for seven years. After trying the doctors my medical doctor sent us to without success, we were told about chiropractic. Well, two months later I was pregnant. Linda@@ My name is Jim. I lifted something wrong at work and heard something pop and went to my knees In pain. I was told surgery was the only option I had, and I would be off work several months. Then the bad news  I might not ever return to my same job. Someone told me to try chiropractic, best suggestion I ever got. I was back to work in three weeks and am doing great.@@It was a year ago that I had the car accident, and just a few weeks after that, the first seizure hit. For the next several months I was terrified when the next one would come. Every few weeks the doctor would increase my medication until he said any higher could be fatal. I was looking at a life of drugs that left me a zombie and I was still having seizures. When a friend told me about chiropractic, I didn't think it could help. What a mistake I almost made! Dispatcher: Sir, where are you calling from? Caller: I at a pay phone. North and Foster. Dispatcher: Sir, an ambulance is on the way. Are you an asthmatic? Caller: no Dispatcher: what were you doing before you started having trouble breathing? Caller: running from the police.@@ One day my mother was out and my dad was in charge of me. I was maybe 2 1/2 years old and had just recovered from an accident. Someone had given me a little "tea set" as a get well gift and it was one of my favorite toys. Daddy was in the living room engrossed in the evening news when I brought daddy a little cup of "Tea", which was just water. After several cups of tea and lots of praise for such yummy tea, my mother came home. My dad made her wait in the living room to watch me bring him a cup of tea, because it was "just the cutest thing!" My mom waited, and sure enough, I walked down the hall with a cup of tea for daddy and she watched him drink it up. Then she says, (as only a mother would know...) "Did it ever occur to you that the only place that your daughter can reach to get water is the toilet?"

IN THE NEWS: Our Bodies Have So Many More Cancer-Causing Chemicals Than We Thought An estimated 1.7 million people will be diagnosed with cancer in 2016. While some of this is rooted in sheer genetics, many of these cases may be sparked by substances in the air, soil, food, and materials around us. A new report released today by the Environmental Working Group shows just how many of these substances end up inside of us. Pulling data from places like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, EWG detected up to 420 possible carcinogens—the name for cancer-causing agents—in people's bodies. NOTE: Is there cancer in your family? Even if the answer to that is no you should still drink clean water, try to eat clean food (reduce junk food and increase fresh fruits and vegetables and even consider organic), clean air machines in your home can reduce pollution.

WELLNESS: A POTENTIAL LINK BETWEEN CELL PHONE USE AND CANCER – JUNE 5, 2016 Use of cell phones is so deeply associated with our lifestyle that we often forget that these devices were almost nonexistent a decade ago. Therefore, we don’t have much feedback on their potentially harmful effects on health. Cell phones emit radio frequency radiation in very close proximity with our heads and it is still not clear if that radiation may present health issues. Researchers from the National Toxicology Program (NTP) were asked by the US government to investigate this question. They published a preliminary report on their findings on the association between radio frequency exposure through cell phone use and cancer. They exposed groups of 90 rats, separated by gender, to 3 different doses of radio frequency radiations (1.5, 3 and 6 W/Kg) for 9 hours per day, for 2 years. They found a higher incidence of brain (glioblastoma) and heart (Schwannoma) tumours in male rodents exposed to the radiation. Note: Not all people have the same susceptibility, we can test you on your cell phone plus there are phone covers that protect from this type of radiation.

CHIROPRACTIC: How Does Chiropractic Work? Many people seek chiropractic care when their back goes out or their neck tightens up. But how does this form of care actually work? What are the benefits of receiving chiropractic care for nerve dysfunction compared with other healthcare options? Let’s take a look! First, let’s discuss how the nervous system “works.” We have three divisions of the nervous system: the central, peripheral, and autonomic nervous systems. The central nervous system (CNS) includes the brain and spinal cord, and it’s essentially the main processing portion of the nervous system. The spinal cord is like a multi-lane highway that brings information to the brain for processing (sensory division) and returns information back to the toes, feet, legs, and upper extremities from which the information originated (motor division). For example, hiking on a mountain trail or simply walking requires constant input to and from the CNS so we can adjust our balance accordingly and not fall. These “sensory-motor pathways” are essential and allow us to complete our daily tasks in an efficient, safe manner as information is constantly bouncing back and forth between the brain and the rest of the body. The peripheral nervous system (PNS) includes a similar sensory/motor “two-way street” system relaying information back and forth from our toes/feet/legs and fingers/hands/arms to the spinal cord (CNS). And if this isn’t complicated enough, we also have “reflexes” that, for example, allow us to QUICKLY pull our hand away from a hot stove to minimize burning our fingers. Reflexes allow the information to “skip” the brain’s processing part so quicker reactions can occur. The autonomic nervous system (ANS) includes the sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions that basically “run” our automatic (organ) functions like breathing, heart rate, digestion, hormonal output, and more. There is constant communication between the ANS, PNS, and CNS that allow us to function in a normal, balanced way… unless something disrupts them. There are obvious conditions that interfere with this communication process that include (but are not limited to) diabetes (with neuropathy), frost bitten or burned fingers, peripheral nerve damage from conditions like carpal/cubital tunnel syndromes, thoracic outlet syndrome, and/or pinched nerves in the neck, mid-back, low-back spinal regions, as well as conditions such as multiple sclerosis (MS), Guillain-Barre Syndrome, after a stroke (spinal cord or brain), and after trauma with resulting fractures where nerve, spinal cord, and/or brain damage can occur. These are “obvious” reasons for delayed or blocked neurotransmission. There are many other less obvious injuries or conditions that can result in faulty neuromotor patterns and nerve transmission of which chiropractic services can benefit. The “subluxation complex” is a term some chiropractors use to describe the compromised nerve transmission that may occur if a nerve is compressed or irritated due to faulty bone or joint position along the nerve’s course. Reducing such nerve compression typically allows for a restoration of function. A good illustration of this is a patient who suffers from a herniated disk in the neck with numbness and tingling down the arm to the hand. The goal of treatment (for all healthcare professionals) is to remove the pinch of the nerve. To realize this goal, doctors of chiropractic utilize spinal manipulation and mobilization in addition to other non-surgical, non-drug approaches that may include exercises, nutritional advice, home-care such as a cervical traction unit, and other anti-inflammatory measures (ice, modalities like low level and class IV laser, electric stimulation, pulsed magnetic field, and more). Given the minimal side-effect risks and well-reported benefits, it only makes sense to try chiropractic FIRST and if you’re not satisfied, your doctor will help you find the next level of care.

IN THE NEWS: Researchers Uncover Link Between Immune Function And Osteoarthritic Pain And Progression The study, published in the medical journal Osteoarthritis and Cartilage, found that monocytes, the white blood cells necessary to regulate immune responses, were more activated and pro-inflammatory in women with osteoarthritis, and that elevated inflammation and body mass index were associated with this increased activation. Chronic inflammation and osteoarthritis has been linked to an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes and depression among adults with OA. While the cause of OA remains unknown, multiple factors contribute to its risk, progression and severity. Today is the day to change your diet because the day you have a heart attack or diagnosed with cancer it could be too late. Junk food is the biggest cause of inflammation in the body. CONDITION OF THE WEEK: LONGEVITY, DNA REPAIR AND CHIROPRACTIC DNA is the molecule of life. It contains our genes which make us what we are. DNA makes up our chromosomes which are held in the nucleus of our cells. DNA is very fragile and susceptible to damage from environmental stresses. It is estimated that our cells experience anywhere from 1,000 to 1,000,000 incidences of DNA damage PER DAY. If this DNA damage is left and not repaired, our DNA sequences cannot be read or will not be read properly. This will result in abnormal cell function or expression. Three things can then occur; senescence, which means the cells stop dividing, cell death and/or tumor growth. All three are not good things as they lead to poor health and premature aging. The good news is that our cells are equipped with numerous enzymes (too many to list) whose job it is to continually repair this DNA damage. This DNA repair can be measured through blood tests that measure serum Thiol levels. The serum Thiol level is an indicator of the level of DNA repair. The higher serum Thiol, the more DNA repair and the better your health and aging. In a landmark study published in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research, chiropractors collaborating with researchers at the University of Lund found that chiropractic care could influence basic physiological processes affecting oxidative stress and DNA repair.  These findings offer a scientific explanation for the positive health benefits reported by patients receiving chiropractic care.  Long-term chiropractic care of two or more years was shown to re-establish a normal physiological state independent of age, sex, or nutritional supplementation. Symptom-free or primary wellness subjects under chiropractic care demonstrated higher mean serum thiol levels than patients with active disease, and produced some values that were higher than normal wellness values in non-chiropractic subjects. Wellness care pays big benefits

IN THE NEWS: Most Shocking Medical Mistakes, and How You Can Protect Yourself Each day, more than 40,000 harmful and/or lethal medical errors occur in the U.S., and preventable medical errors kill around 440,000 patients each year, making medical mistakes the third leading cause of death. One in 25 patients end up acquiring an infection while in the hospital, and 75,000 people per year die as a result. Since 1983, 132 newborns have been abducted from U.S. health care facilities, and hundreds of individuals have been caught posing as doctors when, in fact, they did not have a medical degree. Misdiagnoses may occur in 10 percent of all cases, and 30 million prescriptions are improperly dispensed each year in U.S. pharmacies. Two in 10,000 surgical patients come out of surgery with a surgical instrument left inside, and an estimated seven patients undergo surgery on the wrong body part each and every day. Just a few reasons to pick natural healthcare. A seven-year study showed that those patients whose primary physician was a chiropractic physician experienced: 85% less than pharmaceutical costs, 60% fewer outpatient surgeries, 60% fewer hospital admissions.

WELLNESS: HALF of America's cancer deaths are driven by bad habits like eating processed meat, smoking, and excess body weight - but some are worse for men than women Dr Farhad Islami, MD, of the American Cancer Society, compiled a comprehensive list of known risk factors, and how risky each one is, based on previously-published data.  His team then applied those figures to actual cancer data from 2014 to roughly calculate how many cases and deaths were attributable to those lifestyle factors. The risk factors included in the analysis were:  cigarette smoking- secondhand smoke- excess body weight -alcohol intake -consumption of red and processed meat- low consumption of fruits and vegetables- dietary fiber and dietary minerals -physical inactivity -ultraviolet light- six cancer-associated infections, including herpes and HPV. They found that an estimated 42 percent of all cancer cases in America (659,640 of the 1,570,975 cancers diagnosed in 2014) were attributable to these modifiable risk factors. These factors were also the underlying cause of 45.1 percent of cancer deaths (265,150 of 587,521 deaths) that same year.  Staggeringly, they believe this is an understatement, since there are other risk factors that they couldn't get the data for. There are also a number of cancers which are widely suspected to be caused by certain risk factors, but the links are not yet proven. NOTE: These are general recommendations or observations and so it’s important to individualize a program based on your genetic makeup. The body type system, that we follow, has specific dietary recommendations, exercise programs and recommendations on stress handling. Individualizing your preventive approach is important. Know your body type!

CONDITION OF THE WEEK: Winter colds and flu’s and sinus infections. Keeping your air passages healthy during the winter months can help prevent wintertime illness. The flu vaccine has not gotten the correct form of the flu bug for the past 10 years. Not only is the flu vaccine a danger to your health, given all the additives that it has, there has not been any valid study showing its effectiveness. Maintaining the health of your respiratory system is the key. Vitamins like A&D, C and maintaining a healthy humidity is your best defense against winter illness. Studies have shown keeping your neck and your head warm during the winter months also protect you from illness. As the weather turns colder and the heaters start working 24/7 then the indoor air will start drying out. Studies have shown that dry air has four main effects on the human body: Breathing dry air is a potential health hazard which can cause such respiratory ailments as asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis, and nosebleeds, or general dehydration since body fluids are depleted during respiration. Skin moisture evaporation can cause skin irritations and eye itching. Irritative effects, such as static electricity which causes mild shocks when metal is touched, are common when the air moisture is low. The "apparent temperature" of the air is lower than what the thermometer indicates, and the body "feels" colder. As your body fights the dry air you start to use up your vitamin A stores. This enhances the dry skin and sinus problems as well as weakens your immune system. It is important that you have a humidity gauge in each bedroom and a cool mist humidifier to combat the dry air. I recommend the ultrasonic humidifiers as they put the most water in the air. The healthy humidity should be between 40 and 60% below 40% starts drying out your body above 60% can cause mold overgrowth and your windows will steam up. You can control your families wintertime health by following these simple recommendations.

IN THE NEWS:. Itching for no reason? Immune system may be at fault People who suffer itching with no clear cause may have previously unrecognized immune system defects. The findings are reported in The Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. “As doctors, we throw things like antihistamines, ointments and lotions at patients who suffer chronic itching, but if there is something profoundly abnormal about the immune system — as it appears there is — then we can’t solve the itching until we address those underlying causes,” said principal investigator Brian S. Kim, MD, an assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Dermatology. The four patients researchers zeroed in on were ages 75 to 90. In blood samples, three of those four had high levels of the protein IgE — an immunoglobulin that is a marker of inflammation. Immunoglobulins are antibodies deployed by the immune system to fight infections. Elevated levels of IgE often are seen in patients with allergies. NOTE: hidden food allergies can be a source of itching for a number of people. It’s possible environmental allergies or allergies to cumulated toxins within the body might also be the source. Through Vega Testing we can eliminate some of these common problems and offer solutions.

WELLNESS: Why You Might See Blood in Your Stool Like finding a lump in your breast, seeing blood in your stool can send you into a tailspin of panic. For most people, the fear is that this is a sign of colon cancer. Although blood in the stool is considered a red-flag digestive symptom, it doesn't automatically mean that you have a life-threatening illness. Common Causes of Blood in the Stool 1. Hemorrhoids: One of the most common causes of blood. 2. Anal fissures:  is a tear in the tissue lining your anus. In addition to causing bright red blood to appear in your stool, anal fissures may also cause symptoms of anal painand/or itching, as well as pain during bowel movements. Less Common Causes of Blood in the Stool 1. Colon polyps: Colon polyps are growths in the colon that are at risk for developing into cancerous tumors. 2. Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD): Both of the two forms of IBD, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn's disease, can cause blood to appear in your stool. However, blood showing up on your stool is more likely to happen with ulcerative colitis. Benign Causes of Changes in Stool Color Pepto Bismol, Iron supplements, Foods with black or red food coloring, Beets and other red vegetables. CHIROPRACTIC: Why improving function is better than suppressing symptoms The way that chiropractic is different than any other healthcare approach is because what happens with an adjustment. Most people understand how accidents, lifting too heavy a weight or chronic bad posture can lead to misalignments in the spine. What most people are unaware of is even if these misalignments do not cause pain they put pressure on nerves that regulate and control the body. The neck is one of the most prone areas for misalignments due to the fact you have the smallest vertebra in the whole spine trying to balance the 10 pound ball (the head) at the top. If we're talking about misalignments in the upper neck these irritate nerves and block communication to the head. Even though there can be multiple symptoms from this like: headaches, dizziness, sleep disorders, brain fog, changes in blood pressure and even memory, many times you don't feel the pressure you just experience the symptoms. For instance let's take headaches a lot of people if they do anything just take a pain pill. Unfortunately pain pills are one of the most dangerous types of drugs on the market and can cause extensive damage within the digestive track but also can affect the kidneys and other organs with chronic use. When painkillers work they really don't work. It's true that painkillers can cover the pain from a headache but they can't fix the underlying cause. As pressure in your upper neck builds other health problems can develop. It's a lot like clipping the wire to the engine light instead of fixing what's wrong with the engine. Studies show chiropractic is one of the most effective treatments for headaches on the planet. By removing the pressure on the delicate nerves at the base of the skull most headaches are relieved fairly quickly. More important than symptom relief, as you fix these misalignments you prevent future headaches. Now take this same principle and apply it to the lungs, digestive system, reproductive system, immune system etc. and you understand why chiropractic care is superior than most other approaches. Chiropractic restores health it doesn't just mask the symptoms. With chiropractic adjustments, exercise, diet and nutrition, positive mental and spiritual attitude and rest and relaxation you have the principles that can address most health challenges. Tell someone about chiropractic!

IN THE NEWS: Do germs trigger type 1 diabetes? Germs could play a role in the  development of type 1 diabetes by triggering the body’s immune system to destroy the cells that produce insulin, new research suggests. Scientists have previously shown that killer T-cells, a type of white blood cell that normally protects us from germs, play a major part in type 1 diabetes by destroying insulin producing cells, known as beta cells. Unlike type 2 diabetes, type 1 diabetes is prevalent in children and young adults, and is not connected with diet. In previous studies the Cardiff team isolated a killer T-cell from a patient with type 1 diabetes to view the unique interaction which kills the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. “In this new study, we wanted to find out what was causing these T-cells to kill beta cells. We identified part of a bug that turns on killer T-cells so they latch onto beta cells.” The research, published in The Journal of Clinical Investigation, provides a first ever glimpse of how germs might trigger killer T-cells to cause type 1 diabetes, but also points towards a more general mechanism for the cause of other autoimmune diseases. NOTE: Probiotics/friendly bacteria help keep the population of bacteria in check and balanced. Get a daily supply of friendly bacteria. Introduce your kids to Kefir or other cultured foods.

WELLNESS: Apricot seeds, B-17/Laetrile Apricot seeds are similar to other nuts - rich in healthy fats and a source of fiber and iron. There are two types of apricots seeds, or kernels. Sweet apricot seeds are sometimes sold as snacks or for baking, and they contain very little or no amygdalin. Bitter apricot seeds, on the other hand, do contain amygdalin. Laetrile is one of the most popular and effective alternative cancer treatments available. In order to increase the efficiency of Laetrile, it is recommended to follow a strict nutrition diet and also purchase other numerous supplements. Laetrile targets and kills cancerous cells, while repairing the immune system to fend off future possibilities of cancer. B-17 helps boost immunity, relieves pain, lowers high blood pressure, relieves constipation, can help with respiratory disease, has anti-inflammatory properties, protect cells from damage, antimicrobial properties, helps maintain proper pH balance. Recommended usage is 2-3 daily. However well-known authors like Marcus D. Adams claims that you can have up to 24 to 40 kernels a day spread throughout the day. You have to start with 2 and see how much your body can take on a daily basis.

IN THE NEWS: CDC warns parents not to give children antibiotics to treat common cold, flu "Antibiotics are not effective against viral infections like the common cold, flu, most sore throats, bronchitis, and many sinus and ear infections," read a recent CDC advisory on Facebook. "Taking antibiotics can also have harmful side effects for you or your child." While parents might be tempted to seek out antibiotics during this year's supposedly more severe than usual flu season, taking the bacteria-killing medication will not cure the infection, stop others from catching it, nor make flu victims feel better. In fact, needlessly taking antibiotics will kill healthy bacteria and may lead to harmful side effects that could send a child to the hospital. According to the CDC, antibiotics are the most common cause of emergency hospital visits for children experiencing negative reactions to drugs. In addition, needlessly using antibiotics can make the body more resistant to the medication, making it harder to treat an infection. In total, the CDC estimates that 30 percent of all antibiotics prescribed to patients seeking medical treatment without hospital admission are unnecessary.

WELLNESS: Empathy: Caring for Others Is Good for You  Empathy, the ability to put yourself in someone else’s shoes, so to speak, and understand their feelings and point of view, is a character trait that may benefit society and individuals in multiple ways. Empathy training has been found to reduce stress levels among medical students facing intense emotional encounters with patients, for example. While many parents try to instill empathetic qualities in their children, there’s growing research that empathy has deep neurological roots in humans. Empathy has complex neurological underpinnings that control the way our brains help us to care about other people. Humans have “mirror neurons” that react to others’ emotions and reproduce them; a deficit in mirror neuron receptors has been suggested as an explanation for narcissism and neurotic behaviors. Researchers found that empathy was positively associated with treatment adherence, patient satisfaction and reduced dental anxiety, sentiments that seem to be echoed among medical practitioners. Among adolescents, empathy may even go hand in hand with future success, according to licensed professional counselor Ugo Uche: “Teenagers who are empathetic tend to be more purpose driven and they intentionally succeed in their academics not because they are looking to make good grades, but in most subjects their goal is to understand the subject material and to utilize the knowledge as one of their ever-increasing tools …Teenagers who are more empathetic do a much better job in embracing failure, because there is little ego involved in their tasks, and setbacks while disappointing are rarely seen as failures, but rather as a learning experience about an approach that does not work for the task at hand.” Practicing empathy may help you relieve stress, strengthen your relationships and have a more satisfying work life.

IN THE NEWS:. WHY DOGS ARE GOOD FOR OUR HEALTH (and Help Us Cope With Life) When we see, touch, hear or talk to our companion animals, beneficial neurohormones are released and that induces a sense of goodwill, joy, nurturing and happiness. “The bond between man and dog is something that can really cure a lot of emptiness,” says Stephen Knight of Dallas, Texas. “I'm a recovering addict, six years clean and sober,” Knight tells NBC News BETTER. “I did work in non-profits and social services but went into addiction hard core and ended up homeless, living out of my car, and lost everything in life that matters.” Getting a dog eight months into recovery “changed my life,” Knight says. “There's a lot of voids that you fill with drinking and drugs. Dogs can replace that with their love.” Dogs stay present in the moment. That's important for people in recovery, we try to not worry about the future as much. And dogs don't let their past define them. Another population that sees great benefit from dog companionship is older adults, says Johnson. Yet this is another group that often isn't able to keep their pets at a time they need them most. If an older person is struggling to take care of a pet, “the unfortunate thing that happens is family members say the pet has to go. Sometimes even primary caregivers say that,” Johnson says. “It's inhumane to the animal and the adult. Often the animal is the reason adult gets up in the morning. It may be the only individual they communicate with for days.” Dogs are even starting to pop up in court, of all places. “There's a growing movement to have courthouse dogs,” Knight says, “a specially trained therapy animal to preside and be with children and people who have suffered domestic violence who have to testify. Children undergoing forensic interviews for child abuse, who may be in foster care can benefit from interacting with a service while going through interviews.”

WELLNESS: BORIC ACID CURE FOR YEAST INFECTIONS Yeast infections can occur in several places on the body. The most common areas are: The mouth, where the infection is called thrush, On the feet, as athlete's foot, On the genitals. When a yeast infection develops in a woman's vagina, it causes a type of vulvovaginitis, or inflammation of the vulva and vagina. Three out of every four women will have at least one vaginal yeast infection at some point, and half of all women will have more than one. Small amounts of the yeast also live in various warm, moist areas throughout the body, including the mouth, rectum, vagina, and parts of your skin. Its numbers are naturally kept in check by the bacteria and other microorganisms that make up your microbiome, the community of microorganisms that inhabit your body. A treatment for CANDIDA ALBICANS. infection based on a popular home remedy has been shown to be at least as affective as currently prescribed medications. CHIROPRACTIC: TREATING AUTOIMMUNE DISEASES  Lupus, Hashimoto thyroiditis, psoriasis, Sjogren’s syndrome are just a few of the autoimmune processes that affect Americans. Under the right circumstances your immune system can literally attack any cell in your body. A normally functioning immune system identifies self from nonself and goes to work as soon as an invader is identified. Your immune system has specialized cells that can break down and destroy invaders through both chemical warfare and actually eating the offender. Sometimes your immune system gets confused because of trauma, toxic metals, toxic chemicals and in some cases emotional stress. The medical approach is to use powerful and harmful chemicals like steroids to try to suppress the immune systems function. Of course this approach does not cure the disease it just suppresses the symptoms. We offer a natural approach to address the underlying cause for this condition with detoxification, allergy elimination, improved emotional processing and nutritional therapy to balance and build up the immune organs in question. Most patients respond favorably to this approach which includes balancing a diet to your genetic makeup, improving communication between the immune organs and the nervous system through chiropractic adjustments and including the appropriate detoxification and nutrition to enhance normal function. Who do you know who would benefit from chiropractic care?

IN THE NEWS: ‘What the Health’ — Where This Vegan PR Film Went Wrong  The documentary, “What the Health,” ignores accumulated evidence against sugar in a misguided effort to promote vegan ideology. According to the film, the focus on sugar as a contributor to obesity, diabetes and ill health has steered people away from the real culprits, which they claim are meat and animal fat. For example, Dr. Neal Barnard, adjunct associate professor of medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and president of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, claims that diabetes is not caused by a high-carb, high-sugar diet. In his view, diabetes is caused by fat buildup caused by a meat-based diet. To treat diabetes, Barnard recommends a low-fat vegetarian diet, free of any and all animal products, without any restrictions on carbohydrates. The sugar industry promotes the myth that saturated fat is to blame for weight gain and ill health, not sugar, along with the thoroughly debunked energy balance theory. Fortunately, some great books have now been written exposing the history and extent of the cover-ups. Two examples are science journalist Gary Taubes' book, "The Case Against Sugar," and Marion Nestle's "Soda Politics: Taking on Big Soda (and Winning)." While a high-vegetable diet is certainly beneficial, the low-fat, unrestricted-carb recommendations are not. Low-carb, high-fat diets have proven superior for controlling insulin resistance, which is the hallmark of obesity and metabolic dysfunction. NOTE: This article points out the fight within nutritional science between the high protein low carb diet and the high complex carb low-fat diet. The truth is both diets are correct for different populations, 60 to 70% of the population should be on a high protein low carbohydrate diet where 30 to 40% of the population need to be on a low fat high complex carb diet. It’s a matter of genetics, we are not all the same. KNOW your body type!

WELLNESS: Are you getting enough fiber? One of the most underserved nutrients today is fiber. Typically missing or very low in packaged and fast foods, fiber intake for most Americans is woefully low. Adults need between 20 to 30 grams of fiber every day for optimal health, but most Americans get only about 15. I believe the ideal is closer to 32 grams. What potential benefits might you expect when you increase the amount of fiber you eat each day? Fiber: Assists in managing your weight by helping you feel full longer Helps promote regularity Helps support your heart health Helps support healthy GI function. Your body needs two different types of fiber: soluble and insoluble. Soluble fiber helps slow down your digestion and helps maintain glucose and blood cholesterol levels already in the normal range. Good food sources are nuts, seeds, apples, and blueberries. Insoluble fiber helps propel food through your digestive tract and promotes regularity. Good food sources include dark green leafy vegetables, green beans, celery, carrots, and brown rice. Many whole foods, especially fruits and vegetables, contain both soluble and insoluble fiber, a real nutritional bonus.

Dr Keefe, Natural Health care, pain, Tulsa chiropractor,

IN THE NEWS: Painkiller addiction: the plague that is sweeping the US Pain is the number one reason that people visit a doctor. What most people don’t realize is in most cases doctors are at complete loss on how to address the condition that’s causing the pain. If there’s nothing they can cut out or an infection they can treat with antibiotics then pain pills are there primary choice. This lack of proper training is devastating to our country. Simply writing a prescription and not dealing with the root cause is leading to close to 200,000 deaths per year for all types of drugs. The more pain pills handed out, the more cases of addiction; the more cases of addiction, the more illegal street trafficking of the drugs; the more illegal street trafficking, the more snorting and injecting of the crushed pills; the more snorting and injecting, the more overdoses; the more overdoses, the more deaths. The death toll exceeds that caused by heroin and cocaine combined, and in 17 states has become the No 1 cause of injury deaths, surpassing even car crashes. At around the same time, drug companies, led by Purdue Pharma, the manufacturer of the leading opioid painkiller OxyContin, embarked on a massive marketing push. In 2001, Purdue Pharma spent $200m promoting OxyContin. Primary care physicians, in particular, were targeted, and their patients induced to try out the drug with 30-day free trial periods. Pharmaceutical companies are not looking out for your best interest. Don’t let pharmaceutical companies make you a drug addict seek solutions for your pain.

WELLNESS: FOODS FOR PAIN Ginger A staple of traditional medicine, this pungent root is probably best known for its anti-nausea, stomach-soothing properties. But ginger can also fight pain, including achy muscles from exercise as well as menstrual cramps. One study found ginger capsules worked as well as over-the-counter anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen at relieving period pain. Blueberries These little juicy gems have lots of phytonutrients that may fight inflammation and lessen pain. If it's not berry season, frozen blueberries can have the same or even more nutrients than fresh. Other fruits with antioxidants and polyphenols, including strawberries and oranges, can have a similar soothing effect. Pumpkin Seeds Pepitas are a terrific source of magnesium, a mineral that may cut the number of migraines you get. It may also help prevent and treat osteoporosis. But despite what you may have heard, it doesn't seem to stop leg cramps at night. For more magnesium, add almonds and cashews, dark green leafy vegetables (like spinach and kale), beans, and lentils to your diet. Salmon Loaded with anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids, salmon makes just about all of the "good for you" lists. It's considered heart-healthy and may relieve joint tenderness if you have rheumatoid arthritis. Other varieties of cold-water fish, including tuna, sardines, and mackerel, are good choices, too. Avoid tilapia and catfish, though: Their higher levels of omega-6 fatty acids may promote inflammation. Turmeric The compound in the spice that gives curry its bright orange-yellow color can affect several processes in your body, including inflammation. Studies of people with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis who took supplements of curcumin found they could walk better and without the side effects of taking drugs. Black pepper can help your body absorb it, so try a blend of the spices, steeped with ginger and honey into a tea. Tart Cherries In one study, runners who drank tart cherry juice starting 7 days before a race and on race day (12 ounces, twice daily) had significantly less muscle pain than a group who swigged a similar-tasting beverage with no natural juice. It could be from the antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds in the fruit. Chili Peppers Capsaicin, the stuff that gives chilies their heat, is well known for its painkilling properties in creams and patches. Some early research suggests that eating hot peppers, instead of putting them on your skin, may reduce and prevent inflammation, too. The "burn" also tricks your brain into releasing endorphins, which block pain signals. Mint Peppermint oil relieves the painful cramps, gas, and bloating that are the hallmarks of irritable bowel syndrome. Peppermint tea is a good soother for occasional tummy upset. In early research, Brazilian mint tea (made from the plant Hyptnis crenata) has been as effective as a prescription painkiller.

CONDITION OF THE WEEK: Chiropractic and pain  There are different types of pain including chronic pain, nerve pain, psychogenic pain, musculoskeletal pain, abdominal pain, complex regional pain syndrome etc. so pain has to be addressed at the source and so it’s important to understand what’s causing the pain. Is it a chemical imbalance? Is it some type of electrical imbalance within the nervous system or is it due to some other condition that needs to be treated. Chiropractic has a history of resolving pain when other approaches fail and with today’s powerfully addictive pain pills it’s important to seek solution for your pain instead of just treating the symptoms. Pain pills can damage the liver (over 20,000 arthritic’s die every year from liver failure because of pain pills) and kidneys (3500 women a year die from kidney failure taking ibuprofen for their headaches), lungs, stomach and intestines as well as muscles. Chiropractic has multiple tools when it comes to pain. For neck and back pain as well as other joint pain realignment is very effective. Even with joints like elbows, knees, fingers or feet adjustments can be very effective. Next when we get into inflammation nutritional therapy becomes increasingly important. Even your body pH can set you up for pain when you are too acidic that leads to inflammation and pain. Homeopathy, acupuncture, electrotherapy, pulse magnetic therapy are just a few of the tools that we use at Keefe clinic. If you or a friend suffer from pain seek solutions, seek care by a chiropractic physician, you’ll be glad that you did.

IN THE NEWS: Dangers of Smart Meters  Thousands of people complain of health problems developing shortly after receiving a smart meter on their home. In some cases, blood tests confirm suspicions that RF radiation has impacted health. The smart grid promised to enhance energy security and reduce energy usage. In reality, 80 percent of households that have received a smart meter report increases on their utility bill. While largely unknown and rarely discussed, there's evidence to suggest a significant percentage of the diseases we now face is related to electromagnetic interference (EMI), so-called "dirty electricity," and microwave radiation from cellphones, routers, portable phones, smart meters and more. In a nutshell, these kinds of exposures impact your biology, specifically your mitochondrial function, which we've now come to appreciate is at the heart of virtually all chronic disease. The smart grid promised to deliver enhanced energy security, greenhouse gas reductions, improved air quality and increased grid asset utilization. While this sounds good in theory, Levitt points out that there are many technical problems with the smart grid, and with the meters. Hundreds have caught fire. Most are installed by poorly trained employees without electrical degrees. Some have nothing more than a two-week training course under their belt. Money, of course, is part of the equation. According to the film, some $11 billion of taxpayers' monies have gone to fund the smart grid rollout. Estimates suggested building this grid could lead to a 4 percent reduction in energy usage by 2030, but real-world evidence shows smart meters result in no energy savings at all. According to a senior assistant to the attorney general for public utilities in Illinois, Susan Satter, "The report shows zero statistically different result in usage, compared to business as usual." NOTE: there are devices you can use with your cell phone to reduce radiation as well as devices you can wear on your person to help reduce the negative effects of electromagnetic fields. Some people are more sensitive than others.

WELLNESS: What a Hunter-Gatherer Diet Does to the Body If you're not convinced that eating a healthy diet is crucial to your health, and perhaps for reasons that might be a surprise, you may remember the story of an undergraduate student who spent a solid month eating breakfast, lunch and dinner at McDonald's. The rule was that every time someone took his order and asked if he wanted something "super-sized" he had to go for it. Over those few days and weeks, he not only gained weight, his liver was damaged and several other changes took place that prompted his doctor to advise him to go off the diet for the sake of his long-term health. The type of food you eat influences the health of your gut, as bacteria and fungi in your digestive tract make up your microbiome, which can make or break your health and make you more or less prone to disease. "However good your diet and gut health, it is not nearly as good as our ancestors.' Everyone should make the effort to improve their gut health by re-wilding their diet and lifestyle. Being more adventurous in your normal cuisine plus reconnecting with nature and its associated microbial life, may be what we all need." Gut bacteria can ferment soluble fiber in vegetables, legumes and fruits, the byproducts of which help to feed the cells lining your colon to prevent problems associated with leaky gut syndrome. The most important fermentation byproducts are short-chain fatty acids, which help balance your immune system to the point of preventing Crohn's disease and asthma. Besides branching out and bringing more food diversity into your life, introducing more of these high-fiber foods is easy and delicious. The highest fiber foods include split peas, lentils, black and lima beans, artichokes, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, raw berries and avocadoes.

CHIROPRACTIC: Natural healthcare can help you Studies show more people are searching for natural solutions for their health. In 1993 the American Medical Association is a survey of health habits of Americans and found that more Americans visited doctors are practiced natural healthcare and doctors practice drug therapy and surgery. There are many reasons for this shift in healthcare. Some people are concerned about the side effects that drugs have, (2000 deaths per week plus 1 million injuries per year), some people have a sense of body ecology and don't want to put any artificial substances within their body. Some people have discovered drugs mainly cover-up symptoms and never get to the root of your problem, and are more concerned with maximizing their health than just making some symptoms disappear. I'm sure you have seen either a popular magazine or news program on TV, the benefits of different natural healthcare techniques. Cholesterol leads the list. Most of you are probably aware of the drugs that are used for cholesterol as you see their advertisements 50 times a day on television and radio as well as print media. What you might not know is how the drugs work.

I believe that you need to understand 80% of the cholesterol in your blood your liver made. That means only 20% comes from diet. Even so diet can lead to the stress factors that promote the liver to make cholesterol. So in natural healthcare our focus is on establishing a healthy liver. Whereas the drugs for cholesterol actually make your liver a little sick. The sick liver doesn't make as much cholesterol and thus your cholesterol numbers fall.

In natural healthcare we don't see that is making much sense. Plus the statistics don't show it makes a big difference in lifespan. You can't be healthy by making parts of your body sick so in natural healthcare we identify the proper diet that a person needs and also the nutrients the liver needs in order to establish normal cholesterol levels. I will let you decide which of these approaches makes more sense.

Acid reflux is the next major reason people visit physicians. Most of you know that antacids are the number one approach allopathic medicine uses. Digestion is a complicated system and I encourage you to read our pamphlet on acid reflux to fully understand the process. Is acid reflux caused by a lack of antacids in our diet? Chronic antacid use causes malnutrition because it suppresses your body's normal digestive process. In natural healthcare we work at reestablishing a normal digestive system because any organ in the digestive system can be a source of acid reflux if it is operating abnormally. If you take antacids you need to ask yourself what organ is that correcting? Of course it's not correcting anything it's just suppressing symptoms at a cost. The cost to your digestive process and your nutritional status and thus your health.

Depression. The most common allopathic approach is to use drugs that manipulate neurotransmitters. Depression is a complex condition that can have several sources of malfunction within the body. Antidepressants do not correct these problems. At best an antidepressant might artificially alter certain neurotransmitters. Did you know your neurotransmitters are made by amino acids from your diet? In natural healthcare there are many nutrients that we might work with in reestablishing normal neurotransmitter levels. For instance with serotonin L-tryptophan is a very common amino acid that might be deficient. And so instead of artificially trying to alter the serotonin level in natural healthcare we would give the body what it needs to make more serotonin. Again other neurotransmitters and other health issues like hormone imbalances or blood sugar imbalances could be involved in this. In natural healthcare we would address those underlying causes. Antidepressants do not correct any of these underlying causes.

Osteoarthritis. Of course allopathic medicine uses dangerous painkillers and artificial anti-inflammatories to address this condition. But did you know 20,000 arthritic die every year from perforated ulcers because they take aspirin? And did you know that aspirin accelerates arthritis? Treating a symptom just allows the underlying condition time to get worse over time. Treating the underlying condition eliminates the symptoms because healing has taken place. Arthritis has multiple causes: food allergies, fatty acid deficiencies, mineral deficiencies, autoimmune processes etc. Again painkillers do not address any of these underlying causes. The natural approach would include joint realignment to reduce inflammation and decreased wear and tear of the joint. Nutritional therapy to supply nutrients for cartilage and joint health as well as essential fatty acids to supply lubrication to the joints.  There are many other things a natural healthcare provider might utilize in helping patients overcome their arthritis not just covering the symptoms and allowing the condition time to get worse.

Pain. Advisors for the FDA have recommended all painkillers to be removed from the market because of their danger. Just a few years ago three painkillers were permanently removed from the market because of the deaths they caused. Did you know 3500 women a year die from kidney failure taking ibuprofen for their headaches? We just discussed the 20,000 arthritic who die from taking aspirin. The facts are over 3000 people a week die from prescription drugs many of those from painkillers. And do painkillers address the root cause for pain? Of course not! When people notice pain relief in natural healthcare it is because healing has taken place. There are so many different aspects to pain that we can't discuss them all here but natural healthcare is the most effective approach to dealing with the root cause of pain than any other approach on this planet. And you're not going to die from the treatment.

Diabetes. I would be the first one to say that for type 1 diabetes taking insulin might be your only choice. Insulin does not cure your diabetes and if you're diabetic you'll suffer from the disease but insulin will keep you alive. When it comes to type II diabetes natural healthcare offers tremendous help. 70% of all type II diabetics can be drug-free with normal blood sugar levels with a combination of diet and targeted nutritional therapy. Natural healthcare is the only approach that can address insulin resistance. Plus it is safe as well as effective.

Allergies. The most common allopathic approach is antihistamines. Histamine is a normal immune process and essential in keeping you healthy. One study indicated chronic antihistamine use could make you susceptible to cancer. Why? Chronically suppressing the immune system is not a smart idea. Allergies respond beautifully to homeopathic antigens and nutritional therapy to build up the adrenals and immune system. Antihistamines do not fix anything they just suppress symptoms. Again symptom suppression allows the underlying weakness or condition time to get worse. Natural healthcare offer some of the most dramatic healing results when it comes to allergies.

Osteoporosis. Every osteoporosis drug has a long list of side effects. Ask this simple question, is osteoporosis a drug deficiency disease? Of course not! Of the five nutrients the FDA allows claims to be made for, hydroxyapatite for osteoporosis is one of those. Osteoporosis is a combination of nutritional deficiencies (and I'm not talking about calcium), hormone imbalances, and a lack of exercise. Which of these do the drugs fix? Of course none of these. To understand osteoporosis completely you should read our pamphlet "The truth about Osteoporosis".

Sleep disorders. Sleeping pills are a public healthcare disaster. Just ask the lady who the police were called on and was found naked at midnight power washing her house. The sleep medication had caused the bizarre sleepwalking event because of the way it alters brain chemistry. We know serotonin and melatonin are behind most sleep disorders and guess what you get serotonin and melatonin from, L-tryptophan. Most sleep disorders are just a sign of nutritional deficiencies.  Sleeping pills do not appropriately address these issues. One of the things patients tell me when they received chiropractic care is that they sleep better. Do you think reducing the stress that misalignments cause the nervous system would help the body relax and sleep?  Find out the cause, correct the cause.

Asthma is the last on the list of the top 10. Allopathic medicine use some of the most dangerous debilitating drugs on kids with asthma including steroids. Do these drugs cure asthma? I think you know the answer to that. Chiropractic and natural healthcare has a long history of fixing the underlying causes for asthma. Drugs don't heal! I remember the seven-year-old patient several years ago who was having alarming symptoms from the drugs his medical doctor had put him on and yet he was a prisoner in his own house. He would look out the window at his friends playing and cry because he couldn't go outside due to his allergies. Three weeks of chiropractic care he was off all of his medication and outside playing with his friends.

The bottom line is this. You have been manipulated primarily by pharmaceutical companies in most cases into making decisions about your health that are the wrong decisions. Pharmaceutical companies spend billions of dollars every year on manipulating how you think about your health.

They've even come up with phony conditions and then promote their dangerous drugs to treat them. And they use slick advertising to make you think that you need to take a drug in order to be happy or healthy.

Drugs are necessary in crisis care. Drugs are like the fire department coming in with their axes and hoses to tear down doors and walls to put the fire out. Allopathic medicine is very destructive to your body and your health.

Back Pain

Picture 053

Proper Health starts with the correct acid-alkaline balance in your body. The pH level (acid - alkaline measurement) of our internal fluids affects every cell in our bodies. Extended acid imbalances of any kind can overwhelm your body, and lead to health complications.

Just as the body regulates its temperature in a rigid manner, so will it manage to preserve a very narrow pH range - especially in the blood. As a matter of fact, the body will go to such great lengths to maintain a blood pH of 7.365 that it will even create stress on other tissues, body systems, and organs to do so. Chronic acidity will interrupt all cellular activities and functions - it interferes with life itself.

When the pH of the body gets out of balance (too acidic), we may experience low energy, fatigue, excess weight, poor digestion, aches and pains, and even more serious disorders.

The cycle of acidity begins primarily as a result of three things:
1. Ingesting acids. Eating too many acidifying foods like processed sugar, meats, dairy, coffee, alcohol, etc. Create an acid ash in the body. These acids can overload the body's ability to neutralize them.
2. Creation of acids. Pathogens and microforms create acidifying toxins in the body. As the body becomes more and more acidic, bad bacteria, yeasts and other microforms proliferate in the body. Since these organisms are living, they eat as well as create resulting toxins. These toxins are often very acidifying.
3. Improper elimination of acids. Not all acids are the same; some are weak and some are strong. Weak acids like citric acid are much easier to neutralize than strong acids like uric acid. The body uses many systems in order to buffer acids including breath, mineral reserves, and fat. When the body's buffering systems become compromised, excess acids build up.

The process of reestablishing acid-alkaline balance begins with proper diet and nutrition. This includes eating alkalizing foods (vegetables, low sugar fruits, etc.), super hydration (drinking plenty of alkaline water), and proper supplementation.

Keeping yourself BALANCED is your first line of defense in fighting any disease and alkaline water creates a major impact in balancing the body's pH.

A body that is too acidic provides the ideal environment for diseases to manifest and thrive in. For example, accumulated acid waste in the joints encourages inflammation and arthritis. It turns acidic wastes into solids and stores them in fatty tissues resulting in hardening of the arteries and excess weight. Our body also tries to buffer the effect of this excess acid by taking calcium from the bones, and magnesium needed for heart health.

Therefore, one of the keys to great health is keeping the body pH properly balanced. Because of the predominance of hydroxyl ions produced, making the water highly alkaline, drinking plenty of alkaline water will help dissolves accumulated acid waste and will balance your body pH.

Alkaline water can neutralize the acidity of the body caused by stress, modern diet, air pollution, and many bottled waters.

- A higher pH in the body reduces the need for fat and cholesterol to protect the body from damaging acids.

- Alkaline water is negatively charged and an "antioxidant." Antioxidants reduce cellular and DNA damage caused by free radicals. Negatively charged alkaline water creates energy by giving up ions to positive ions.

- Alkaline water tastes lighter with a pleasantly sweet flavor.

- Improves the body's absorption of essential nutrients

- Improves body function by cleaning your cells from the inside out.

- Using water with a higher pH level improves the taste of beverages and food.

- Improves your immune system function to help you fight diseases.

- Cooking with alkaline water improves the taste and quality of foods and using acidic water when boiling eggs improves their quality

Understanding pH Values

For those not familiar with pH scales:
Pure acid is pH 0
Pure alkaline is pH 14
Neutral (neither acid nor alkaline) is pH 7
pH 7 is ten times more alkaline than pH 6
pH 8 is 100 times more alkaline than pH 6
pH 9 is 1,000 times ore alkaline than pH 6

How much do I drink?

Your water needs are based on your body weight. Half your body weight is your cleansing dose and 80% of that is your minimum because otherwise you're dehydrated.

100 pound person, 50 ounces is their cleansing dose and 40 ounces is a minimum of fluids they should drink every day.

Dr. Keefe, Keefe Clinic. Tulsa Chiropractor, pain, natural health care. How much alkaline water should I drink? That depends on your pH. We carry very sensitive pH paper for determining your urine pH which is the pH we base your need for alkaline water on. If you're a vegetarian and your pH is already alkaline then you can just drink regular filtered water. But if your pH is lower than 6.4 then you need to drink alkaline water. I would recommend 1 L a day minimum. Depending on your weight more might be indicated.

How alkaline of water should I drink? Water can come from about 7.8 to 10. You can drink water that is to alkaline for you and it is best to be tested at our office to determine the best pH. Waters with a pH of 9 to 9.5 tend to test the best, but your situation might be different.

Both saliva and urine pH should be 6.4. When you maintain that then your blood and cells will be able to maintain the pH that is right for them. Saliva pH indicate your digestive pH whereas urine pH indicates your body pH. So for determining your need for alkaline water urine pH is the one to watch. Also it is recommended not to drink alkaline water with meals. If you're going to drink water with a meal I recommend squeezing several lemon or lime slices in the water to make it acidic. Lemon and lime will be alkaline on your body yet acid in your stomach.

I don't keep up with drug sales let alone the actions and side effects of all the latest drugs. But I would think antacids must be making pharmaceutical companies literally billions of dollars each year. (The January 8, 2001 issue of Business Week mentions that Priolsec is the top selling prescription drug in the world. It earns Astra Zeneca (the drug’s maker) 6 billion dollars per year.)

One of the reasons that antacids sell so well is that they stop the pain in 60-70% of the cases. (A recent online survey of over 4200 patients taking Priolosec.) If you're troubled with chronic acid reflux and you can take a pill and all the pain just disappears, it seems like you're doing the right thing, doesn't it? Before you answer that let me explain the digestive process and then ask you that question again.

Digestion is literally a miracle. All the different types of foods and yet your body knows the exact enzymes and the correct amount to properly breakdown each food to its simplest component. Complex carbohydrates are broken down into simple sugars, proteins are broken down into their individual amino acids and fats and oils are reduced to their individual fatty acids. And then the process of properly absorbing these nutrients along with the vitamins, minerals and enzymes plus other things that were still learning about. If you eat different foods you get different kinds and amounts of enzymes to digest them.

As you chew your food you help break it down for your stomach as well as blend it with saliva which helps start the whole process. As the food enters the stomach it starts to churn and release digestive enzymes. Hydrocloric acid (HCl) is one of the most important enzymes that the stomach releases. The amount of HCl that leaves the stomach with the food entering the small intestines stimulate fluids from the liver and gallbladder as well as enzymes from the pancreas to complete the digestive process. It is essential that the right amount of HCl enters the small intestines to begin a wavelike motion called peristalsis that help move the food throughout the intestines. If the level of HCl is less than ideal then every other step in the digestive process is compromised.

Dr. Keefe, Keefe Clinic. Tulsa Chiropractor, pain, natural health care.

It's like when you have a row of dominos stacked together and push the first one over a chain reaction happens. Without HCl the rest of the digestive process is severely compromised. If you don't produce the right amount of enzymes then you cannot breakdown your foods properly. If you don’t break your foods down properly you can not absorbe nutrients that your body requires. Studies of individuals who have used antacids over a long peiord of time find evidence of malnutrition. Doesn't that make sense? What do antacids do? They severely reduced if not completely block the release of HCl. Remember the chain of dominos.

Dr. Keefe, Keefe Clinic. Tulsa Chiropractor, pain, natural health care.

When you consistently reduced the amount of HCl that is released from your stomach that causes a series of changes in the lining of your stomach. A healthy stomach has a mucous lining that protects the stomach from its own acids. When the body senses that this coating has been reduced it automatically reduces the amount of HCl it secretes. As this happens the stomach will churn more to help break down the foods. After a series of processes, this increase of abnormal stomach contractions can force what little bit of HCl you produce up into the esophagus.

Dr. Keefe, Keefe Clinic. Tulsa Chiropractor, pain, natural health care.

This can cause a burning or painful sensation from your stomach up into the back of your throat. This is called acid reflux. This condition is rarely due to the overproduction of HCl. If this problem is not corrected over a lifetime the chronic inflammation to the cells can lead to cancer. But be forewarned, the chronic suppression of HCl with antacids will lead to incompletely digested food irritating your intestines and increasing your chance for colon cancer. Usually the mechanism I described above is leading to the inappropriate release of HCl into the esophagus. It is true eliminating the amount of HCl you produce will relieve symptoms. It's also true that these drugs will relieve you of the normal digestive process.

Dr. Keefe, Keefe Clinic. Tulsa Chiropractor, pain, natural health care.

Now the main question is this- is the choice between symptom relieve with drugs or suffering pain with each meal? No! By properly correcting the dysfunction within the digestive system you can, not only restore proper function without drugs, you can also overcome your acid reflux.

There are several principles to good digestion. Completely chewing your food, not combining proteins with sweet fruits, don't eat too quickly, eat foods that are consistent with your body and blood type, too much dairy with a meal could interfere with the digestive process and watch the junk food. Fiber helps move the food through your digestive system.

A lot of time patients with digestive problems also notice that they have discomfort between the shoulder blades. Neurologically this is very significant. The nerves between the fourth thoracic and eight thoracic are some of the most important controlling nerves to your digestive system. If you carry nerve pressure in your upper back then your digestive system is most likely compromised. Now remember, you can have nerve pressure without back symptoms, though alot of patients with acid reflux know what I'm talking about when I talk about discomfort between their shoulder blades.

Dr. Folts’ current research is on in vitro platelet mediated coronary thrombosis and anti-oxidants. Dr. Folts developed the experimental model on Aspirin in 1974 and demonstrated by in vitro testing that aspirin can reduce arterial blood clots.

The anti-stick factor

Platelets, a class of blood cells, aid in clotting. They keep a fresh cut in the skin from causing life-threatening blood loss. In persons with coronary artery disease, however, overly sensitive platelets may foster clots that obstruct blood flow through vessels already narrowed by fatty deposits. The result can be a heart attack.

In a host of studies, Folts' team has shown that red wine and dark beers inhibit platelets in the blood from becoming unusually sticky and generating those risky, clot-forming clumps. Indeed, these dark-colored drinks clearly outperform lighter ones, such as vodka, white wine, and pale lagers.

What tends to distinguish a dark beer from a light brew, or a ruby-hued wine from a white one, is their concentrations of quercetin, rutin, resveratrol, and other flavonoid pigments.

In their new study, the Wisconsin scientists initially recruited five healthy men and women (including Folts) to drink about three servings of purple grape juice at a sitting -- some 20 to 24 ounces. An hour later, the researchers sampled the volunteers' blood and put it into a device that measures platelet stickiness. Compared to blood samples taken an hour prior to drinking the juice, the later blood was almost 50 percent less prone to platelet clumping.

That's a lot of juice, Folts acknowledges, so he decided to explore what would happen if he halved the dose and drank it daily for a week. Two or 3 days after the last glass was drunk, each volunteer returned for another blood test.

Dr. Keefe, Keefe Clinic. Tulsa Chiropractor, pain, natural health care.

The results, reported this week, indicate that regular consumption of the popular juice appears to have a carryover effect. Even after a hiatus of several days, the volunteers' blood was about 25 percent less likely to clump than before the treatment began.

Dr. Keefe, Keefe Clinic. Tulsa Chiropractor, pain, natural health care. This finding was particularly welcome, Folts notes, because most heart attacks occur in the early morning, sometimes just as an individual is getting up. His group's data now suggest that even if the juice had been drunk the day before, it would still confer some protection.

Unlike aspirin...

For nearly a decade, cardiologists have known that healthy men over 50 -- and postmenopausal women -- can nearly halve their risk of heart attack by taking an aspirin every other day. Like grape juice, this drug appears to work by inhibiting platelet aggregation.

Dr Keefe, Natural Health care, pain Tulsa chiropractor,

However, when adrenaline is pumped into the blood in response to stress or heavy exercise, Folts points out, aspirin's platelet inhibition virtually disappears. So in the new study, he tested grape juice drinkers' blood to see if the same thing happened to them.

In one case, he took the volunteers' blood, added adrenaline to it, and then measured its susceptibility to platelet clumping. In another, some volunteers exercised and then provided blood for analysis. In both cases, Folts says, the juice depressed platelet clumping.

In the late seventies however, we discovered that if we raised the adrenaline or epinephrine, that the same thing, 75% -80% of the time clot formation comes back with aspirin and that’s a serious problem. That’s why we have spent the last 20 years looking for drugs and food substances that would inhibit the platelets and prevent the clot formation, but also, prevent the renewal of clot formation from elevated epinephrine.

Now, in our previous findings with the animal model, we have shown that red wine, moderate amounts equivalent to 2 glasses in you or I, purple grape juice; not the clear or white grape juice, tea, but not coffee, in this animal model reduced or inhibited platelet mediated clot formation and protected against potentially fatal coronary thrombosis. These flavonoids in red wine, purple grape juice and tea inhibit platelets about the same as aspirin but they have one unique feature. THEY PROTECT AGAINST ELEVATIONS OF ADRENALINE, WHICH ASPIRIN DOES NOT. That makes the flavonoids more desirable.

DIET: Don’t believe the American Heart Assn. — butter, steak and coconut oil aren’t likely to kill you Last month, the American Heart Assn. once more went after hamburger, beef and especially coconut oil with this recognizable warning: The saturated fats in these foods cause cardiovascular disease. The company’s “presidential advisory” has been a brand new look in the science and arrived in reaction to a growing number of researchers, such as myself, that have pored over the exact information in the past several decades and beg to disagree. A review of the evidence indicates that in regards to mortality or heart attacks fats aren’t guilty. It had been in 1961 that the AHA found the world’s very first official recommendations to prevent saturated fats, together with dietary cholesterol, to be able to protect against a heart attack. This “diet-heart theory” was embraced by the majority of major specialists, though it hadn’t been examined in clinical trials — the only sort of science which may establish cause-and-effect. From the start, the rap on fats lacked a scientific basis. The diet-heart theory was examined more than any other in the history of nourishment, and so far, the results are null. The theory had some funds from preliminary information, plus it made intuitive sense — fat clogs your arteries such as warm grease down a chilly drain tube, right? — that sufficient for AHA officials sought to deal with the wave of cardiovascular disease. Nevertheless, rigorous information was required, and so authorities across the world — such as our very own, during the National Institutes of Health — spent countless dollars attempting to demonstrate the theory was true. Somewhere between 10,000 and 53,000 folks have been analyzed on diets in which saturated fats have been replaced by unsaturated vegetable oils. As anticipated, the results didn’t turn out — people weren’t being killed by saturated fats. Note from Dr. Keefe: there hasn’t been one successful trial showing that fat causes heart disease and death in the last 50 years.

IN THE NEWS: Heart surgeon speaks out on what really causes heart disease Dr. Dwight Lundell  We physicians with all our training, knowledge and authority often acquire a rather large ego that tends to make it difficult to admit we are wrong. So, here it is. I freely admit to being wrong. As a heart surgeon with 25 years experience, having performed over 5,000 open-heart surgeries, today is my day to right the wrong with medical and scientific fact. I trained for many years with other prominent physicians labelled “opinion makers.” Bombarded with scientific literature, continually attending education seminars, we opinion makers insisted heart disease resulted from the simple fact of elevated blood cholesterol. The only accepted therapy was prescribing medications to lower cholesterol and a diet that severely restricted fat intake. The latter of course we insisted would lower cholesterol and heart disease. Deviations from these recommendations were considered heresy and could quite possibly result in malpractice. It Is Not Working! CONDITION OF THE WEEK: Is It My Low Back Or My Hip? When patients present with low back pain, it is not uncommon for pain to arise from areas other than the low back, such as the hip. There are many tissues in the low back and hip region that are susceptible to injury with have overlapping pain pathways that often make it challenging to isolate the truly injured area. Hip pain can present in many different ways. When considering the anatomy of the low back (lumbar spine) and hip, and the nerves that innervate the hip come from the low back, it’s no wonder that differentiating between the two conditions is often difficult. To make diagnosis even more complex, the hip pain patient may present one day with what appears to be sciatic nerve pain (that is, pain shooting down the back of the leg to the knee if mild or to the foot if more severe) but the next visit, with only groin pain.  When pain radiates down a leg, the almost automatic impression by both the patient and their healthcare provider is, “…it’s a pinched nerve.” But again, it could be the hip and NOT a pinched nerve that is creating the leg pain pattern. Knee & ankle reflexes and sensation are normal but muscle strength may be weak due to pain. Bending the low back into different positions does not reproduce pain if the pain is only coming from the hip.  Though sometimes challenging, doctors of chiropractic are well-trained to be able to differentiate between hip and low back pain and will treat both areas when it is appropriate.

The terrorist have been recategorized from "tiresome" to "a bloodied nuisance." The last time the British issued a "bloodied nuisance" warning level was and 1588, when threatened by the Spanish Armada. The Scots have raised their threat level from "pissed off" to "let's get the bastards." IN THE NEWS: Exposure to violence hinders short-term memory, cognitive control  Being exposed to and actively remembering violent episodes—even those that happened up to a decade before—hinders short-term memory and cognitive control, according to a study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS). The study, which was co-authored by Princeton University's Pietro Ortoleva, examined more than 500 civilians in Colombia, a country that has experienced both urban violence and rural warfare within the past two decades. The findings demonstrate the long-lasting effects of violence on cognition and memory recall and highlight the need for policies that provide proper therapy for those coping with violence. "Memory and cognitive control impact how people do in school, how they perform at work and if they can keep their jobs, and how they fare in life in general, which all has significant impacts on the economy as a whole," said Ortoleva, a professor of economics and public affairs at Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. "Our results demonstrate that exposure to violence can have effects on cognitive functions," said Ortoleva. "Besides the obvious negative effects on the physical and psychological well-being, this may lead to vicious cycles: both poverty and violence hinder the ability to develop for a person or a group, which in turn may generate further poverty and violence. Emotional freedom technique is something that we use in our office to help the mind process emotional injury. If you feel that you are dealing with issues like this asked Dr. Keefe on your next visit for an evaluation.

WELLNESS: Heartburn Drugs Increase Mortality Proton pump inhibitors are commonly used to treat heartburn, but have been shown to do far more harm than good, raising your risk of kidney disease, dementia, heart attacks and premature death. Research clearly shows PPIs are outrageously overprescribed and misused, and do far more harm than good. There are many alternative treatment strategies that can help ease this painful problem without the serious side effects associated with PPIs, which include kidney disease, pneumonia, osteoporosis, hip fractures, dementia and an increased risk for heart disease, heart attacks and premature death. Most acid reflux cases are related to insufficient amounts of stomach acid, food allergies, Helicobacter pylori imbalance and/or hiatal hernia. Gallbladder disease can also be mistaken for heartburn. The long-term answer to heartburn and acid indigestion is to restore your natural gastric balance and function. The most important step is to eat real food, as processed foods and sugars are a surefire way to exacerbate acid reflux. Reseeding your gut with beneficial bacteria, either from traditionally fermented foods or a high-quality probiotic supplement, is also important. Aside from that, there are a number of natural substances that can help address the root of the problem. To address heartburn, eat unprocessed food and fermented foods, and take supplemental digestive enzymes. Foods such as papaya, pineapple and ginger can also help, as well as a number of other supplements.

CONDITION OF THE WEEK: Phantom organ symptoms A lot of people have heard of phantom limb syndrome where patients who have lost an arm or leg can still feel that appendage. The reason for that is the place in the brain where that limb is controlled and coordinated is still there even though the limb is gone. In a lot of cases the trauma that caused the limb to be lost produced subluxations that press on the nerves that used to go down the arm or leg. Another phantom pain is when an organ has been removed like a gallbladder or spleen from an accident. These patients can still suffer symptoms even though they no longer have the organ. Both chiropractic adjustments and even nutritional therapy can help these annoying complaints, they can be resolved in a high percentage of the cases. Chiropractic care and nutritional therapy should be your 1st choice of treatment. Chiropractic 1st, drug 2nd, surgery last.

FUNNY BONE: A Canadian psychologist is selling a video that teaches you how to test your dog’s IQ. Here’s how it works: If you spend $12.99 for the video, your dog is smarter than you.@@ I’d never had surgery, and I was nervous. “This is a very simple, noninvasive procedure,” the anesthesiologist reassured me. I felt better, until … “Heck,” he continued, “you have a better chance of dying from the anesthesia than the surgery itself.”@@ Aerial Photos--A photographer for a national magazine was assigned to take pictures of a great forest fire. He was advised that a small plane would be waiting to fly him over the fire. The photographer arrived at the airstrip just an hour before sundown. Sure enough, a small Cessna airplane was waiting. He jumped in with his equipment and shouted, "Let's go!" The tense man sitting in the pilot's seat swung the plane into the wind and soon they were in the air, though flying erratically. "Fly over the north side of the fire," said the photographer, "and make several low-level passes." "Why?" asked the nervous pilot. "Because I'm going to take pictures!" yelled the photographer. "I'm a photographer, and photographers take pictures."  The pilot replied, "You mean you're not the flight instructor?"

IN THE NEWS:. WALKING SLOWLY IS AN INDICATOR OF DEMENTIA BROUGHT ON BY BRAIN SHRINKAGE, SCIENTISTS DISCOVER FOR THE FIRST TIME Scientists have long believed that a slower walking pace in older people may be linked to dementia. There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over one million by 2025. This will soar to two million by 2051.  Now a team of researchers have identified the changes in the brain which explain why. They discovered that people who developed slowed walking show a shrinkage of their right hippocampus. This area of the brain, which is similar in shape to a seahorse, is primarily associated with memory and the ability to maintain posture.  The findings suggest dementia could be treated earlier if doctors regularly measure the walking speeds of older patients and watch for changes over time. That's according to a 14-year study carried out by experts at the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health.

WELLNESS: EXPLORING HEALTHY DRINKS Green Tea The Benefit: Helps reduce risk of osteoporosis, cancer, heart disease, and cavities. Green tea contains a rich concentration of flavonoids and polyphenols, natural antioxidants that may protect cells from carcinogens (cancer-causing substances) and inhibit tumor growth by helping to neutralize free radicals in the body. The tea's antioxidants may also guard against heart disease by relaxing blood vessels, inhibiting the formation of blood clots that trigger heart attacks and strokes. Green tea also contains fluoride, which strengthens teeth; the flavonoids may build up bones as well, reducing the risk of osteoporosis and tooth decay. Mint Tea the Benefit: Eases cramps and helps ward off indigestion. "Mint is an antispasmodic, so it can relax muscles, which combats stiffness and aches," says Susan Lark, MD, author of The Chemistry of Success (Bay Books, 1999). It also aids in digestion by promoting the movement of food through the digestive tract. Workout Recovery delectably creamy the sweet potato becomes in the juicer, plus it's a bit higher in calories and loaded with potassium to balance and replenish your electrolytes after exercise. .Ingredients: 8 ounces chopped peeled sweet potato (2 cups), 4 ounces peeled orange, 3 ounces coarsely chopped carrot (2 small carrots). How to Make It Juice in an electric juicer. Serve immediately for the best quality, or within 24 hours. Pulp Fix: Stir this bright, citrusy mix into zucchini or banana bread batter for a sunny, fiber-filled twist.

CHIROPRACTIC: WHAT’S THIS TINGLING IN MY LEG? When you think of low back pain, you may visualize a person half-bent over with their hand on the sore spot of their back. Since many of us have experienced low back pain during our lifetime, we can usually relate to a personal experience and recall how limited we were during the acute phase of our last LBP episode. However, when the symptoms associated with LBP are different, such as tingling or a shooting pain down one leg, it can be both confusing and worrisome – hence the content of this month’s article! Let’s look at the anatomy of the low back to better understand where these symptoms originate. In the front of the spine (or the part more inside of the body), we have the big vertebral bodies and shock absorbing disks that support about 80% of our weight. At the back of each vertebrae you’ll find the spinous and transverse processes that connect to the muscles and ligaments in the back to the spine. Between the vertebral body and these processes are the tiny boney pieces called the pedicles. The length of the pedicle partially determines the size of the holes where the nerves exit the spine. When the pedicles are short (commonly a genetic cause), the exiting nerves can be compressed due to the narrowed opening. This is called foraminal spinal stenosis. This compression usually occurs later in life when osteoarthritis and/or degenerative disk disease further crowds these “foramen” where the nerves exit the spine. Similarly, short pedicles can narrow the “central canal” where the spinal cord travels up and down the spine from the brain. Later in life, the combined effects of the narrow canal plus disk bulging, osteoarthritic spurs, and/or thickening or calcification of ligaments can add up to “central spinal stenosis.”  The symptoms associated with spinal stenosis (whether it’s foraminal or central) include difficulty walking due to a gradual increase in tingling, heavy, crampy, achy and/or sore feeling in one or both legs. The tingling in the legs associated with spinal stenosis is called “neurogenic claudication” and must be differentiated from “vascular claudication”, which feels similar but is caused from lack of blood flow to the leg(s) as opposed to nerve flow. At a younger age, tingling in the legs can be caused by either a bulging or herniated lumbar disk or it can be referred pain from a joint – usually a facet or sacroiliac joint. The main difference in symptoms between nerve vs. joint leg tingling symptoms is that nerve pinching from a deranged disk is located in a specific area in the leg such as the inside or outside of the foot. In other words, the tingling can be traced fairly specifically in the leg. Tingling from a joint is often described as a deep, “inside the leg,” generalized achy-tingling that can affect the whole leg and/or foot or it may stop at the knee, but it’s more difficult to describe by the patient as it’s less geographic or specific in its location.  Chiropractic management of all these conditions offers a non-invasive, effective form of non-surgical, non-drug care and is the recommended in LBP guidelines as an option when treating these conditions.

FUNNY BONE:  : Pregnancy Q and A Q: Should I have a baby after 35? A: No, 35 children is enough. Q: I'm two months pregnant now. When will my baby move? A: With any luck, right after he finishes college. Q: What is the most reliable method to determine a baby's sex? A: Childbirth. Q: My wife is five months pregnant and so moody that sometimes she's borderline irrational. A: So what's your question? Q: My childbirth instructor says it's not pain I'll feel during labor, but pressure. Is she right? A: Yes, in the same way that a tornado might be called an air current. Q: When is the best time to get an epidural? A: Right after you find out you're pregnant. Q: Is there any reason I have to be in the delivery room while my wife is in labor? A: Not unless the word "alimony" means anything to you. Q: Is there anything I should avoid while recovering from childbirth? A: Yes, pregnancy. Q: Do I have to have a baby shower? A: Not if you change the baby's diaper very quickly.

IN THE NEWS: Light-sensitive bacteria could save you during a heart attack  If scientists can use them in humans, that is. Heart attacks are frightening by themselves, but they're made worse by the potential for lasting damage. Even a brief interruption to blood flow could permanently destroy vital tissue that keeps your heart beating as usual. However, there might be a way to mitigate or even prevent that damage. Scientists have discovered that a light-sensitive bacteria, synechococcus elongatus, can keep oxygen coming in the midst of a heart attack. Much like a plant, the bacteria both draws on photosynthesis for energy and turns both CO2 and water into oxygen. If you expose it to light soon after the attack, you can maintain oxygen levels and increase the heart's blood-pumping ability after the attack is over. In lab rats, the results were dramatic. Oxygen levels were 25 times higher 10 minutes after the attack, and the hearts pumped 60 percent more blood 45 minutes after the attack. If you could use this as an emergency treatment in humans, it could mean the difference between outright heart failure and a reasonably healthy patient. The emphasis is on "if," however. It's easy to shine light into the small body of a rat; it's tougher to do that with humans, who have thicker heart muscles (and are much larger, of course). There's also the question of whether or not the bacteria are completely safe. Don't count on this solution reaching hospitals soon, if at all. Nonetheless, the discovery is promising: it suggests that there's a way to protect your heart against long-term harm even as doctors race to save you from the immediate threat.

WELLNESS: Broccoli Compound Lowers Risk of Obesity and Helps Treat Diabetes Sulforaphane, an organic sulfur found in broccoli and other cruciferous vegetables, may lower your risk of obesity and may be an ideal substitute or complement to metformin in the treatment of type 2 diabetes. Sulforaphane reduces glucose production and improves liver gene expression. Patients with dysregulated diabetes who received broccoli sprout extract in addition to metformin had 10 percent lower fasting blood glucose levels than the placebo group. Broccoli and broccoli sprouts also have potent anticancer activity courtesy of sulforaphane and other chemoprotective compounds. Steaming your broccoli spears for three to four minutes will optimize the sulforaphane content by eliminating epithiospecifier protein — a heat-sensitive sulfur-grabbing protein that inactivates sulforaphane — while still retaining the enzyme myrosinase, which converts glucoraphanin to sulforaphane. Without it, you cannot get any sulforaphane. The sulforaphane content can be further optimized by adding a myrosinase-containing food to it. Foods containing this important enzyme include: Mustard seed,,Daikon radishes,Wasabi, Arugula, Coleslaw.

Dr Keefe, Keefe Clinic, Natural Health Care, Tulsa Chiropractor, Diet, Pain,CONDITION OF THE WEEK: Sick and tired of being sick and tired My greatest joy is unraveling the code of disease in patients that I see. Health and disease follow certain patterns and steps. You simply follow certain laws that produce health or you break certain laws that produce disease. Those laws in a nutshell include proper diet, rest and relaxation (stress handling), positive mental and spiritual attitude, exercise and a pressure free nervous system. And to the degree you break these laws is the degree you lose your health. Health loss can happen slowly over a long period of time and by the time the symptoms appear you can be in bad shape. It is been said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”, it’s easier to stay well then to recover your health. A story from my files: I will call her Beth who came to me after a pretty serious car accident and she presented with epileptic seizures, daily headaches and she also had a history of digestive problems, ovary pain (she had already lost one ovary to surgery) and knee pain. The first two symptoms were directly related to her car accident and the other symptoms were chronic as she had had them for several years. Seizures can be frightening for anyone but she had a newborn baby she was not able to hold it without supervision. When she came to see me she was on the highest level of anti-seizure medication that she could take without it becoming lethal. It’s upsetting that we have a healthcare system that can’t see the big picture and attacks every symptom with potentially dangerous medications. In the car accident her head almost went through the windshield causing subluxations in her upper neck that caused the epilepsy and the headaches. It would seem that most first year doctors in training would be able to diagnose this and realize structural care was necessary, they didn’t. What was exciting is within a week or two of her beginning care the seizures disappeared along with her daily headaches. As we continued chiropractic and nutritional therapy her remaining ovary return to health, her digestive symptoms resolved and her knee pain disappear. When patients are willing to follow the laws of health we rarely have failure in restoring health. A wise man once said there are no incurable diseases just some incurable patients. Who do you know who has struggled with chronic health problem? Tell them about chiropractic.
