IN THE NEWS: Patient brain dead, 5 others injured after French drug trial disaster One person has been left brain dead and five others are in serious condition after taking part in a clinical trial in France of an experimental painkiller made by Portuguese drug company Bial, the French Health Ministry said on Friday. Four of the six men hospitalized have "neurological problems"-- of which three could have "irreversible" brain damage, CHU de Rennes hospital chief neurosurgeon Gilles Edan said Friday at a press conference. Another man is being kept in the hospital, but is in a less critical condition. NOTE: Over 2000 people a week die from prescription drugs. Most of those are from painkillers, this news report just confirms this class of drugs is very dangerous. Covering pain up with drugs is not appropriate healthcare. Fix the underlying problem and the pain will go away. Tell your friends about chiropractic.

CONDITION OF THE WEEK: CRICK IN THE NECK can be caused by a joint problem, particularly the facet joints, which are two small joints in the vertebrae surrounding the neck. When the ligaments around these joints are strained, the muscles around them go into spasm, causing pain and discomfort. This can produce but usually just aggravates an existing subluxation. Proper sleep techniques are important in keeping your neck healthy. The nerves from your neck regulate and control structures within the skull, throat and across the shoulders to your fingertips. If you receive regular chiropractic adjustments you’re less likely to suffer from this condition. With that said if you sleep in an awkward position long enough you can initiate alignment issues with corresponding muscle spasms and the classic crick in the neck.
