IN THE NEWS: HOW CIGARETTE SMOKE WEAKENS LUNG IMMUNITY AND FUELS CHRONIC INFLAMMATION Cigarette smoke contains over 20,000 harmful chemicals that weaken immune cells and promote chronic inflammation. Long-term exposure to smoking impairs the function of T cells, macrophages and other immune cells, leaving your body vulnerable to infections and cancer. Smoking triggers oxidative stress and DNA damage, disrupting your immune system and increasing the risk of diseases like lung cancer. Quitting smoking and avoiding secondhand smoke are important steps to restoring immune health and preventing further damage. Nutrient-rich foods, regular movement and sunlight exposure support immune recovery and reduce inflammation. CHIROPRACTIC:  THE ADJUSTMENT THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING Maya had spent years living with chronic back pain. Once a passionate dancer, she'd given up her dream after injury and frustration dimmed her light. Doctors offered medications, rest, and even surgery—but nothing restored her spark. One rainy morning, a friend urged her to visit a chiropractor. Skeptical but desperate, Maya agreed. Her friend recommended their chiropractor who welcomed her with a warm smile and an open mind. After a thorough evaluation, he explained how subtle misalignments in her spine were disrupting not only her movement—but her entire sense of well-being. The first adjustment was gentle, almost imperceptible. But Maya stood up and felt… lighter. Not just in her body, but in her spirit. With every visit, her pain eased, her posture straightened, and her confidence returned. Six months later, Maya stepped back onto the stage, twirling in perfect rhythm—not just with the music, but with herself. It wasn’t just an adjustment. It was a realignment with her purpose.

WELLNESS: VITAMIN K1 VS. K2 — UNDERSTANDING THEIR DISTINCT ROLES IN YOUR HEALTH Vitamin K1, found mainly in green leafy vegetables, is essential for blood clotting, while vitamin K2, produced by gut bacteria and present in fermented foods and animal products, significantly impacts bone and heart health. Vitamin K2 is more effective than K1 in enhancing bone density and preventing arterial calcification, making it important for cardiovascular and skeletal health. Conventional vitamin K tests, such as measuring prothrombin time — or how quickly your blood clots — mainly measure vitamin K1, overlooking K2’s important functions. The bioavailability and absorption rates of vitamin K2 are higher than those of K1, allowing it to be more effective in tissues outside of your liver. Vitamin K2, particularly in the MK-7 form, has a longer half-life, enabling sustained support for bone and cardiovascular health. Health is not a random occurrence—it is the natural and normal state of the human body. When the body is nourished properly, kept in alignment, detoxified, well-rested, and supported mentally and spiritually, it functions optimally. Disease and dysfunction arise when these natural processes are disrupted—not because the body is drug-deficient.

Unfortunately, much of today’s healthcare system is built on managing symptoms rather than restoring function. This reactive, pharmaceutical-first model often overlooks the root causes of disease and ignores the body's own healing potential.

🔍 The Root Causes of Disease Are Largely Preventable

Most chronic illnesses in the United States are caused by a combination of modifiable lifestyle factors:

  • Poor diet and nutrient deficiencies The CDC estimates that poor nutrition is a leading cause of chronic disease in the U.S., contributing to conditions like heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and obesity.¹
  • Toxic exposures The World Health Organization reports that environmental risk factors account for nearly 24% of global disease burden.²
  • Physical inactivity Sedentary lifestyles are associated with a 20–30% increased risk of all-cause mortality.³
  • Poor breathing, lack of rest, and chronic stress Chronic stress has been linked to suppressed immune function, hormonal imbalance, and cardiovascular disease.⁴
Inadequate sleep is tied to nearly every major chronic illness, including diabetes, hypertension, and depression.⁵
  • Spinal misalignments and nervous system interference Studies have shown that spinal misalignments can interfere with autonomic nervous system regulation and impair organ function.⁶
Chiropractic adjustments have been documented to improve heart rate variability and reduce sympathetic overdrive.⁷

💊 The Pharmaceutical Illusion

Despite these known causes, we are told that symptom suppression through pharmaceuticals is the solution to disease. But this is not a neutral or harmless approach.

  • Drugs typically suppress symptoms, not correct the underlying cause. For example, acid blockers reduce stomach acid but do not fix the reason for reflux—often related to poor diet, hiatal hernia, or nerve dysfunction.
  • Multiple drug use increases the risk of adverse effects. According to a study published in JAMA, adverse drug reactions from properly prescribed medications are a leading cause of death in the U.S., resulting in over 100,000 deaths annually.⁸
The CDC reports that adverse effects of medical treatment rank as one of the top ten leading causes of death depending on the year.⁹
  • Polypharmacy (use of multiple drugs) is common in older adults and increases mortality risk. Research in The Lancet shows that adverse drug interactions often go undetected until harm has already occurred.¹⁰

🌱 Natural Healthcare Restores Function, Not Just Comfort

In contrast, natural healthcare focuses on restoring optimal function, allowing the body to heal itself.

Natural Approach————————————Mechanism

Chiropractic——————————————-Corrects spinal misalignments to restore nerve flow⁶⁻⁷

Nutritional therapy———————————Provides raw materials for healing and detoxification

Exercise and movement—————————Improves circulation, oxygenation, and resilience³

Stress management———————————Reduces cortisol and supports immune response⁴

Positive mindset/spiritual support————-Shown to enhance outcomes and immune function¹¹

In this model, symptoms improve because the body is actually healing—not just because the signals have been chemically silenced.

🛑 Medicine Has a Role—But It’s Overused

Let’s be clear: modern medicine can save lives. In emergencies, trauma, or infections, drugs and surgery are powerful and often necessary. But the problem arises when this model is applied indiscriminately to non-life-threatening, chronic conditions.

More than 75% of U.S. healthcare costs go toward treating preventable chronic diseases.¹² That tells us our system is treating dysfunction—not creating health.

✅ Conclusion: Healing is Built Into the Body

The body was designed to heal. When we remove interference, provide the right nutrients, support the nervous system, and reduce physical and emotional stress, the body has an astounding ability to repair itself.

Natural healthcare supports that process. Pharmaceuticals suppress it.

For most non-emergency conditions, the safer, smarter, and more sustainable first choice should be natural healthcare. Not because we reject medicine—but because we respect the body's built-in design to heal itself.

In chiropractic philosophy, the human body is viewed as a self-regulating, self-healing organism, governed by an intrinsic wisdom known as innate intelligence. This innate intelligence uses the nervous system as its primary communication network, coordinating every cell, tissue, and organ in the body.

When the nervous system functions without interference, the body can adapt, repair, and thrive. But when nerve communication is disrupted—often due to spinal misalignments or subluxations—health deteriorates. Chiropractic care aims to remove these interferences, restoring the body's innate capacity to heal itself.

What Is Innate Intelligence?

Coined by chiropractic founder D.D. Palmer, innate intelligence is defined as:

“The inherent wisdom of the body that governs the function of every living cell through the nervous system.”

While not a term used in conventional science, innate intelligence aligns with the concept of homeostasis—the body’s built-in capacity to regulate internal balance and healing without conscious effort.

Examples of innate processes:

  • Wound healing
  • Immune responses
  • Hormonal regulation
  • Organ coordination
All these rely on neural communication and are orchestrated with no conscious input from the individual.

The Nervous System: The Body's Communication Superhighway

1. Central Nervous System (CNS)

  • Includes the brain and spinal cord.
  • Controls both voluntary (movement, speech) and involuntary (heart rate, digestion, immune responses) functions.

2. Peripheral Nervous System (PNS)

  • Includes all nerves branching from the spinal cord to muscles, organs, and glands.
  • Enables constant feedback between the body and brain.

“Every function of the human body is under the control of the nervous system.”
— Gray's Anatomy, 29th Edition

In chiropractic terms, this system is the conduit for innate intelligence—the way the body’s wisdom communicates and carries out instructions to maintain health.

🩻 What Are Subluxations?

subluxation, in chiropractic terminology, is a misalignment or restriction in the spine that interferes with nerve function. Though not always detectable on standard medical imaging, subluxations may:

  • Cause abnormal motion or pressure on spinal nerves.
  • Disrupt communication between the brain and the body.
  • Lead to dysfunction in the corresponding organ or tissue.

“When vertebrae become misaligned, nerve impulses may be altered, affecting the tissues supplied by those nerves.”
— Gatterman, M.I., Foundations of Chiropractic: Subluxation

Scientific Support for the Nervous System’s Role in Health

• Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) Regulation

The ANS controls functions like digestion, heart rate, immune response, and stress adaptation.

Chiropractic adjustments have been shown to:

  • Reduce sympathetic (stress) dominance
  • Improve parasympathetic tone (rest, repair)
  • Enhance heart rate variability (a marker of resilience)

Study: Chiropractic spinal adjustments were associated with improved HRV and autonomic balance.
(Luchetti et al., Journal of Electromyography and Kinesiology, 2020)

• Neuroimmune Interaction

The nervous system regulates immune function through neurotransmitters and neuropeptides.

“Neuroendocrine pathways and autonomic innervation play an essential role in immune modulation.”
— Science Immunology, 2020

Chiropractic research also supports this:

“Spinal adjustments can enhance immune-related biomarkers, such as IgA and leukocyte counts.”
(Coulter et al., Journal of Chiropractic Medicine, 2008)

Real-World Applications: How Chiropractic Helps the Nervous System

Chiropractic adjustments have been shown to:

  • Restore motion and alignment to restricted vertebrae.
  • Reduce nerve interference and promote neural homeostasis.
  • Improve posture and reduce tension on the spinal cord and meninges.
  • Support better coordination between brain and body (neuroplasticity).

Example: A 2016 study found cervical adjustments led to changes in brain activity, including the prefrontal cortex, suggesting chiropractic care may influence executive function, stress regulation, and movement planning.
(Haavik et al., Journal of Neural Plasticity)

Chiropractic and the Brain-Body Connection

Modern neuroscience confirms what chiropractors have long taught: the spine is not just a stack of bones—it is a dynamic, sensory-rich structure that influences brain function.

The spine provides:

  • Proprioceptive feedback to the cerebellum (balance, coordination)
  • Afferent signals to the brainstem and cortex
  • Stimulation of neurochemical pathways that regulate mood, immune function, and inflammation

A disrupted spine means a distorted brain-body conversation—exactly what innate intelligence seeks to correct through chiropractic adjustment.

Conclusion: The Nervous System and Health Are Inseparable

Chiropractic care centers on the truth that a properly functioning nervous system is the foundation of health. When the nervous system is clear of interference, the body can express its innate intelligence—promoting healing, adaptation, and vitality.

Regular chiropractic adjustments aren’t just for pain relief—they’re for nervous system optimization, allowing your body to function the way it was designed.

“The preservation of health is easier than the cure of disease.”
— B.J. Palmer

IN THE NEWS: SLIM DOWN WITHOUT EXERCISE? THE NEAT EFFECT EXPLAINED Fidgeting and everyday movements contribute to non-exercise activity thermogenesis (NEAT), which is the energy your body uses for activities other than formal exercise, sleeping and eating; it helps maintain a healthy weight. These small movements aren't just nervous habits but your body's natural response to being sedentary for too long. Fidgeting improves focus and cognitive performance, making it especially beneficial for people with ADHD or attention challenges. Research shows fidgeting while sitting burns up to 30% more calories than staying completely still, contributing to better metabolic health. Simple workplace adjustments like standing desks, walking during calls or using fidget toys significantly increase your daily NEAT. CHIROPRACTIC: THE POWER OF CHIROPRACTIC CARE Chiropractic care isn’t just about alleviating back pain—it’s a holistic approach to maintaining your body's optimal function. Regular adjustments help improve posture, reduce stress, and boost your immune system. By keeping your spine aligned, you enhance your nervous system’s ability to communicate effectively with the rest of your body, leading to improved overall health. Four Health Topics to Keep You Thriving 1. Posture and Spinal Health With the increasing use of screens, poor posture has become a major health concern. Slouching puts excessive strain on your spine and can lead to long-term discomfort. Regular chiropractic adjustments, combined with posture exercises, can help you maintain proper spinal alignment and avoid chronic pain. 2. The Link Between Chiropractic and Better Sleep Do you struggle with falling asleep or staying asleep? Misalignments in the spine can interfere with your nervous system and disrupt sleep patterns. Chiropractic care promotes relaxation, reduces tension, and helps restore balance in the body—leading to more restful nights and energized mornings. 3. Stress Reduction Through Chiropractic Adjustments Physical stress from daily activities, emotional stress, and environmental factors all take a toll on your body. Chiropractic adjustments help to relieve muscle tension, improve blood circulation, and enhance relaxation, reducing the negative effects of stress and improving overall well-being. 4. Boosting Your Immune System Naturally Your nervous system and immune system are closely connected. When your spine is misaligned, it can compromise your body’s ability to fight off illness. Regular chiropractic care helps keep your immune system functioning at its best, allowing you to stay healthy year-round.

WELLNESS: EATING GOOD FATS, such as those found in avocados, nuts, seeds, and oily fish, offers numerous health benefits that can enhance overall well-being. These healthy fats are essential for brain function, as they support cognitive health and improve mood. They also play a crucial role in heart health by reducing inflammation and lowering bad cholesterol levels, therefore decreasing the risk of cardiovascular disease. Additionally, good fats aid in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) and can help regulate appetite, promoting a sense of satiety that can contribute to maintaining a healthy weight. Incorporating good fats into a balanced diet can lead to improved energy levels and sustained health benefits.

In the United States, the debate over how to achieve and maintain health is far more than academic—it’s structural, political, and deeply personal. On one side stands orthodox medicine: well-funded, government-backed, and culturally dominant. On the other side is natural healthcare: decentralized, grassroots, and often sidelined—despite its track record in preventing and reversing chronic disease.

This is not a balanced debate. It’s an unfair fight, and one that directly affects the health of every American.

An Uneven Playing Field

America spends more than $4 trillion per year on healthcare, yet ranks among the lowest in overall outcomes among developed nations. Why?

Much of that spending fuels a system dominated by pharmaceuticals, high-tech diagnostics, and invasive procedures—all championed by orthodox medicine and backed by enormous financial and institutional power. Federal agencies like the FDA, CDC, NIH, and CMS routinely prioritize drug and surgical solutions, often to the exclusion of natural or lifestyle-based approaches.

Natural healthcare—focusing on nutrition, detoxification, chiropractic care, and other holistic modalities—has been marginalized through regulation, media bias, and insurance exclusion, even though it aligns more closely with the root causes of chronic disease.

Crisis Care vs. Chronic Care

Orthodox medicine shines in crisis care. Emergency surgeries, trauma response, infection control—these are legitimate triumphs of modern medicine.

But for chronic conditions like diabetes, heart disease, autoimmune disorders, digestive issues, and fatigue, the system often fails. Patients are handed pills that manage symptoms, not root causes. And the risks are severe:

✅ According to Congressional testimony (U.S. House, 2013), over 2,000 Americans die each week from adverse reactions to pharmaceutical drugs and complications from medical procedures.
✅ The Institute for Safe Medication Practices ranks medication-related deaths among the top five leading causes of death in the U.S.
✅ The World Health Organization’s 2019 report calls for broader integration of traditional and complementary medicine to improve outcomes and lower costs globally.

The Natural Healthcare Model

Natural healthcare offers a different path—one rooted in supporting the body’s ability to heal through foundational principles. These include:

  • Optimal Nutrition – Whole foods rich in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants
  • Detoxification – Clearing toxins that burden organs and metabolism
  • Exercise – Supporting cardiovascular and metabolic function
  • Stress Management – Mind-body techniques to calm the nervous system
  • Rest & Sleep – Essential time for repair, hormonal balance, and immune function
  • Positive Attitude – Encouraging emotional resilience and mental health
  • Chiropractic & Bodywork – Restoring structural balance and enhancing nervous system communication

As Dr. Mark Hyman puts it:

“We are not treating diseases; we are treating the underlying causes of dysfunction.”

Natural health interventions have not only shown efficacy in reducing the burden of disease—they often reverse it when conventional medicine declares it incurable.

Expert Voices Speak Out

  • Dr. Joseph Mercola: "We are creating chronic disease by the way we eat, live, and medicate. Food is medicine—or poison."
  • Dr. Mark Hyman: "The greatest threat to our health is not bacteria or genetics—it's our lifestyle, and it's changeable."
  • Robert F. Kennedy Jr.: Under President Trump, Kennedy worked to expose the regulatory capture inside health agencies, and his advocacy pointed to the over-medicalization of American life and the neglect of nutrition, toxins, and preventative care.

Why This Matters Now

We are at a crossroads. Americans are sicker, more medicated, and more confused than ever. Chronic illness is rising. Costs are skyrocketing. Trust in the system is declining.

And yet, natural healthcare—time-tested, scientifically supported, and grounded in human physiology—remains underutilized and, at times, actively suppressed.

What Americans need is not a choice between pills or herbs. They need a coherent model that:

  • Uses medical care where it excels (crisis intervention)
  • Prioritizes lifestyle and functional health for long-term wellness
  • Respects the intelligence of the body, not just the chemistry of a prescription

Conclusion: Reclaiming Health with a Balanced Model

This fight isn't about ideology—it's about outcomes. It's time we stop treating symptoms and start restoring health. That means integrating the wisdom of natural healthcare with the strengths of modern emergency medicine.

Until we remove the systemic bias that prioritizes patents over patients, and until we elevate natural principles to their rightful place in public health policy, America’s chronic disease epidemic will continue.

IN THE NEWS: BUTYRATE — THE GUT-BRAIN AXIS CONNECTOR THAT INFLUENCES MOOD AND COGNITION Butyrate, produced by gut bacteria when they ferment dietary fiber, acts as a signaling molecule in the gut-brain axis, influencing stress, pain tolerance, immunity, and brain health. Found in foods such as butter, cheese, whole grains, legumes, and fruits.  Through multiple mechanisms, including specific enzyme inhibition and NF-κB pathway regulation, butyrate reduces neuroinflammation and protects against neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Butyrate influences key neurotransmitters including GABA, serotonin, and dopamine, while also increasing brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), which supports neuronal growth and cognitive function. The vagus nerve serves as a communication highway between the gut and the brain, transmitting signals about butyrate levels that affect mood regulation, stress response, and immune function. Optimizing gut health through dietary fiber and homemade fermented foods helps promote butyrate production and maintain a healthy gut-brain connection. Energy source: Butyrate is the primary energy source for colon cells, providing them with ATP (adenosine triphosphate). Gut health: Butyrate helps maintain a healthy gut microbiome by promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria and inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria. Immune function: Butyrate modulates immune responses in the gut, reducing inflammation and protecting against intestinal diseases. Metabolic health: Butyrate has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity, reduce body fat, and regulate blood sugar levels.  Nutrients. 2023 Oct 31;15(21):4631, Abstract--Cleveland Clinic, September 20, 2023, The Gut-Brain Connection-- Neuroscience Letters, Volume 625, June 20, 2016, Pages 56-63

🔁 Summary:

You can think of 10+ major physiological systems and mechanisms, all layered with dozens of sub-systems and molecular pathways—working constantly to keep the body in repair mode.

Most people think of chickenpox as a one-and-done childhood illness. You get it, recover, and move on. But what many don’t realize is that the virus responsible for chickenpox, varicella-zoster, doesn’t actually leave the body. Instead, it takes up long-term residence in the nervous system, lying dormant in nerve ganglia—often for decades.

The most well-known consequence of this dormancy is shingles (herpes zoster), which can flare up years later, typically under conditions of stress or immune suppression. However, shingles isn't the only concern. New research and clinical experience suggest that a dormant varicella virus may also be linked to:

  • Chronic headaches
  • Neurological fatigue
  • Unexplained tremors
  • Central nervous system irritation
  • Organ inflammation, particularly in the liver or GI tract

Viruses That Linger: Not Just Chickenpox Chickenpox isn’t the only virus with this behavior. Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), cytomegalovirus (CMV), and herpes simplex are all examples of viruses that can persist in the body, flaring up when the immune system is compromised. Together, they paint a clear picture: your immune system is constantly holding these viral "freeloaders" in check.

What Weakens Immunity and Lets These Viruses Activate?

Several modern lifestyle factors can stress and weaken the immune system:

  • Chronic stress (emotional or physical)
  • Poor diet (especially high in sugar or processed foods)
  • Lack of restorative sleep
  • Chemical/toxic exposures
  • Overuse of antibiotics
  • Sedentary lifestyle
  • Structural stress on the nervous system (e.g., spinal misalignments)

How to Strengthen Your Body's Viral Defense System

Thankfully, there are natural and effective ways to reinforce your immune defenses and keep dormant viruses suppressed.

1. Key Nutrients & Immune Support

  • Vitamin C – powerful antioxidant and immune booster
  • Zinc – inhibits viral replication
  • Vitamin D – supports both innate and adaptive immunity
  • Lysine – balances out arginine, which many viruses feed on
  • Olive leaf extract – strong antiviral properties
  • Monolaurin – disrupts viral lipid membranes

2. Detoxification Support

  • Liver support herbs: milk thistle, dandelion root, burdock
  • Binders: activated charcoal, bentonite clay
  • Hydration: filtered water with lemon
  • Infrared sauna or Epsom salt baths to aid detox pathways

3. Exercise and Sleep

  • Moderate, regular exercise improves circulation and immune cell movement
  • Aim for 7–9 hours of restorative sleep per night

4. Chiropractic Adjustments

  • Adjustments relieve structural stress on the nervous system, enhancing communication between the brain and immune organs.
  • Chiropractic care can improve vagal tone, reduce inflammation, and restore balance to the autonomic nervous system—all of which are key in viral resistance.

5. Stress Management

  • Deep breathing, prayer, and mindfulness practices
  • Counseling when emotional stress is chronic
  • Time in nature and social connection

Conclusion A past chickenpox infection doesn’t always stay in the past. As we age or go through stressful seasons, the varicella virus can reassert itself in subtle but damaging ways. By strengthening your immune system and reducing your toxic and structural stress, you can help ensure that these viral hitchhikers remain permanently silent.

IN THE NEWS: MEMORY IS NOT CONFINED TO YOUR BRAIN New research reveals that cells, not just neurons, retain and recall information, a concept known as "cellular memory". Studies show that spaced repetition of stimuli leads to a stronger cellular response compared to single, intense stimuli, mirroring learning principles. Key molecular factors like ERK and CREB, known for their role in brain memory, are also involved in cellular memory throughout your body. Cellular memory plays a role in various health processes, including immune responses, stress reactions and even the development of diseases like cancer. Lifestyle choices such as stress management, healthy diet, exercise and sleep positively influence cellular memory and overall well-being. CHIROPRACTIC: BENEFITS OF CHIROPRACTIC CARE 1. Pain Relief-Back and Neck Pain: Chiropractic adjustments help realign the spine, reducing tension in muscles and nerves. This can relieve chronic back and neck pain without the need for medication or surgery. Headache and Migraine Relief: Misalignments in the spine can cause tension headaches or migraines. Chiropractic adjustments often alleviate these by improving spinal alignment and reducing stress on the nervous system. Joint Pain: It’s not just for the back—chiropractors also work on other areas, such as knees, shoulders, and hips, to relieve joint pain. 2. Improved Posture Modern lifestyles (like sitting at a desk all day) often lead to poor posture. Chiropractic care can correct misalignments caused by slouching or prolonged sitting, which helps improve posture and prevent future pain or discomfort. 3. Enhanced Nervous System Function The spine houses the central nervous system. By correcting misalignments (subluxations), chiropractic care can improve the communication between the brain and body, leading to better overall health and function. 4. Increased Mobility and Flexibility Adjustments can reduce stiffness and improve the range of motion in the joints. This is especially beneficial for athletes or those recovering from injuries. 5. Improved Sleep Quality Chronic pain or tension can disrupt sleep. By relieving pain and reducing stress on the body, chiropractic care can help improve the quality of sleep. 6. Boosted Immune System The nervous system controls immune function. By ensuring the spine and nervous system are in proper alignment, chiropractic care can help enhance the body’s natural ability to fight off illness. 7. Better Stress Management Misalignments in the spine can lead to physical and mental stress. Chiropractic adjustments can help relax the body, reduce muscle tension, and improve overall well-being, helping you better cope with stress. 8. Non-Invasive and Drug-Free Treatment Chiropractic care provides a natural approach to healing, avoiding the need for medication or invasive procedures. This can reduce the risk of drug dependency or surgical complications.

FUNNY BONE:  My daughter went to a Mexican fast food and ordered a taco.  She asked the person behind the counter for 'minimal lettuce.' He said he was sorry, but they only had iceberg lettuce.@@ He said, there was no spark between us anymore. So I tasered him!!! (I’ll ask him again when he wakes up)”@@ “I hate when a couple argues in public and I missed the beginning and don’t know whose side I’m on.”@@  I was at the airport, checking in at the gate when an airport employee asked, 'Has anyone put anything in your baggage without your knowledge?' To which I replied, 'If it was without my knowledge, how would I know?' He smiled knowingly and nodded, 'That's why we ask.'

Most people think chiropractic care is only about relieving back or neck pain—but what if your spine holds the key to improving your sleep, immunity, digestion, and stress response?

It’s not a stretch. Chiropractic adjustments work directly on your nervous system, which controls everything in your body—from heart rate to hormone balance. That means correcting spinal misalignments can have widespread, surprising benefits.

Your Nervous System: The Master Controller

Your brain and spinal cord form your central nervous system (CNS)—the electrical and chemical command center of your

body. Your spine is the protective tunnel for that system. When vertebrae become misaligned (called subluxations), they can interfere with the signals traveling between your brain and body.

This miscommunication can lead to:

- Tense muscles that never relax
- Trouble sleeping
- Weak digestion or sluggish bowels
- Low energy and burnout
- Recurring infections due to immune dysregulation

🔄 Adjustments = A Full-Body Reset

When we correct a misalignment with a chiropractic adjustment, it’s more than just a "pop." It’s a neurological reset. Research shows that spinal adjustments can:
- Improve vagal nerve tone (linked to calm, digestion, and heart rate)
- Enhance heart rate variability, a sign of stress resilience
- Normalize cortisol (your main stress hormone)
- Support immune system communication

Think of it this way: When your nervous system can adapt better, your whole body functions better.

📈 Real Story: “I Came for My Neck, But My Whole Life Improved”

Patient Testimonial: Sandra W., age 56

“I came to Keefe Clinic for some annoying neck stiffness and headaches. After my first few visits, I noticed something strange—I was sleeping deeper than I had in years, and my digestion improved, too! I didn’t expect chiropractic care to help with those things, but I feel calmer, stronger, and more in sync. I’m now telling all my friends it’s more than just a back fix—it’s a reset for your whole body.”

🩺 Could Your Nervous System Use a Reset?

If you’re dealing with recurring fatigue, tension, sleep issues, digestive problems, or stress overload, your nervous system might be out of sync. Chiropractic care offers a natural way to restore the communication lines between your brain and your body.

IN THE NEWS: What You Need to Know About Vitamin C Dosage Vitamin C boosts the immune system, lessens cognitive decline, improves cardiovascular function, reduces oxidative stress, mineralizes bones and may be toxic to cancer cells. The adult RDA for vitamin C, 90 mg a day for men and 75 mg for women, should be much higher, according to a video from James DiNicolantonio, PharmD. Studies have calculated vitamin C saturation on the basis of excretion, which caused them to incorrectly conclude that higher doses are not effective. Optimal doses of vitamin C can be as high as 1,250 mg twice daily; even 2.5 grams per day does not produce full saturation and may have benefits. Vitamin C has been shown to kill lymphoma cells and help fight prostate, pancreatic, hepatocellular, colon, mesothelioma and neuroblastoma cancers. According to The Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, vitamin C enhances the immune system by stimulating leukocyte function, antimicrobicidal and natural killer cell activities and lymphocyte proliferation.High levels of vitamin C, according to the journal, also protects: "… against damage to blood vessels and very significantly reduce mortality rates in the elderly. Indeed, Fletcher et al. have measured that men (mean age 80 years) with 100 mg daily vitamin C intake presented a mortality risk nearly half that compared to peer men with a consumption of 50 mg/day. Moreover, men with low serum ascorbate concentrations may have an increased risk of mortality. A large body of evidence demonstrates that high dietary vitamin C supplementation (between 1 and 10 g/day or more …) can enhance resistance to and improve recovery from infectious, degenerative diseases, and certain types of cancer … Large doses of ascorbate have been found to reduce cardiovascular disease risk, lengthen the lifespan of patients with cancer, and … lengthen lifespan in general. Moreover, daily supplementation with 1000 mg of ascorbic acid results in a significant decrease of blood-lead levels associated with the general population."

IN THE NEWS: THE WARNING SIGNS OF A MAGNESIUM DEFICIENCY (NaturalHealth365) As a macronutrient crucial to good health, magnesium is no slouch. This powerful mineral takes part in about 300 enzyme activities going on in your body, impacting everything from protein synthesis to blood pressure regulation. Magnesium is also vital to a number of energy-related functions, earning it the reputation as the body’s ‘energizer’. Surprising, to most people, magnesium is responsible for: Bone development--Synthesis of DNA, RNA and the antioxidant glutathione--Plus, the active transport of potassium and calcium ions across cellular membranes, which is critical to such bodily functions as muscle contraction, nerve impulse conduction, and proper heart rhythm. Signs of a magnesium deficiency include anxiety, irritability, weakness and fatigue, as well as a general feeling of energy depletion. Many health experts warn that if you experience:Ringing in the ears or hearing loss, Unexplained muscle cramps or tremors, Depression, Abnormal heart function, Or, kidney stones. magnesium levels can decrease your body’s efficiency at using stored energy and optimizing calorie burn.  In addition, those with lower magnesium levels often experience a greater need for oxygen and an increased heart rate when exercising. Because of its role in maintaining bone structure, magnesium deficiency has also been linked to brittle bones and osteoporosis, while its role in glycolysis can promote further insulin resistance among those suffering from diabetes and related metabolic disorders when insufficient levels are available. And, while magnesium is widely available in leafy green vegetables, cereals and fruits, it’s estimated that between 68 and 75 percent of adults in the United States are magnesium deficient. WELLNESS:  BREAKING THE CODE OF DISEASE  Part of the challenge that any doctor has is trying to understand and to help a patient with a certain condition. In chiropractic and natural healthcare we take a totally different approach in treating our patients. Instead of using drugs that just suppress symptoms, at a cost of sometimes serious side effects, chiropractors try to focus on the underlying cause. As a patient you might think that in healthcare there is a understanding of the cause for most disease, but you would be wrong. In our society most diseases are just suppressed not corrected. In natural healthcare and chiropractic we don't use suppressive drugs so we must try to understand the root cause in order to help the patient get well. So what do we do if the cause is not generally recognized or understood? That's where we have to break the code of disease to try to get to the root cause. There are a number of diseases that's most doctors would say we don't understand the cause yet chiropractic helps on a regular basis. That's because most doctors don't work with nutritional therapy, energy medicine or chiropractic adjustments. Besides standard tools like lab work, x-ray or physical exam we utilize a biofeedback technique that we call "Vega testing". This allows us, in many cases, to unravel the underlying cause of a given condition for each patient. Do you or a family member or friend suffer from any chronic condition? Tell someone about chiropractic today. Natural healthcare is the fastest growing system in healthcare today. First of all it's safe and effective.

CHIROPRACTIC: HOW CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENTS WORK: Most of the benefits associated with chiropractic care are due to patients receiving specific chiropractic adjustments. Chiropractic adjustments work by helping to place your body in the proper position that then allows the body to heal itself. As a holistic and alternative treatment approach, chiropractic adjustments can reduce stress placed on someone’s immune system, freeing up energy to be used towards disease prevention and maintaining homeostasis. Chiropractic care aims to address the whole body, enhancing patients’ ability to think, move and perform. Chiropractors pride themselves on taking a natural, drugless approach to helping their patients reach their health goals. Essentially, the basic principle upon which the entire profession is built is that the body has the amazing, innate ability to heal itself (under the right conditions); it is the chiropractor’s job to help create an environment that facilitate this inner-healing process.---Because the nervous system controls every cell and organ in your body, chiropractors focus their attention on the health of the spine being properly aligned. If the spine shifts out of its proper place, then adjustments are used to help bring the spine back into alignment.---At the core of numerous chiropractic miracle stories is a concept known as “vertebral subluxation.” When chiropractors use this phrase, they refer to mechanical compression and irritation to spinal joints and nerves. Case in point: the very first chiropractic patient in history was named William Harvey Lillard, who experienced difficulty hearing due to compression of the nerves leading to his ears. He was treated by “the founder of chiropractic care,” David. D. Palmer, who gave Lillard spinal adjustments in order to reduce destructive nerve compressions and restore his hearing. After doing extensive research about physiology, Palmer believed that Lillard’s hearing loss was due to a misalignment that blocked the spinal nerves that controlled the inner ear (an example of vertebral subluxation). Palmer went on to successfully treat other patients and eventually trained other practitioners how to do the same. The first college of chiropractic was founded in 1897 and named after Palmer, called the Palmer Chiropractic School & Cure.

IN THE NEWS:School social distancing policies (NaturalHealth365) Remember how much you enjoyed making forts out of blankets and cardboard boxes when you were a kid? Sadly, some school districts are making a disturbing twist on this popular childhood game and turning it into a Draconian measure to impose social distancing and purportedly slow the spread of COVID-19. We’re talking about new school reopening restrictions imposed in Thailand. The photos taken of these young children in their classrooms are honestly jaw-dropping – many of them resembling kids housed in plexiglass prisons.  It’s an unnerving testament how far government overreach and complicit herd mentality can take us. In early July, schools in Thailand were given permission to reopen – with what many people are calling oppressive and tone-deaf restrictions. These COVID-19 restrictions include: Clear plastic partitions installed on every student desk-Desks spread out, as well as other space management changes in classrooms and lunch areas to keep children physically separate from their peers-Clear plastic partitions (that look like ominous playpens or kennels) which young children must play in alone-Hand sanitizer and temperature scanners installed at entrances-Mandatory use of face masks for schoolkids – even kindergartners! (Just try to imagine how many times adults touch their masks with unwashed hands … now imagine how distracting and counterproductive these face coverings can be for children)-Some other restrictions, such as capping class sizes at 20 to 25 pupils and regularly sanitizing door knobs and other classroom surfaces, certainly don’t seem quite as unreasonable. But we can only imagine how distracting and fear-inducing it may be for children to see their teachers other school staff members – all clad in masks, of course – obsessively cleaning and wiping down surfaces. What kind of message would this constant cleaning send?  It’s as if to say that touching something without first dousing it with antibacterial agents is dangerous. Let’s not forget, of course, the research indicating that excessive use of antibacterial agents and hand sanitizers may actually contribute to an increased incidence of respiratory issues such as allergies and asthma, especially in children. This is because everyday exposure to common environmental germs is a normal and necessary way to support healthy immune system responses.

WELLNESS:  YOUR BODY’S CRY FOR WATER Your body uses water in all its cells, organs, and tissues to help regulate its temperature and maintain other bodily functions. Because your body loses water through breathing, sweating, and digestion, it's important to rehydrate by drinking fluids and eating foods that contain water. Water does more than just quench your thirst and regulate your body's temperature; it also keeps the tissues in your body moist. You know how it feels when your eyes, nose, or mouth gets dry? Keeping your body hydrated helps it retain optimum levels of moisture in these sensitive areas, as well as in the blood, bones, and the brain. In addition, water helps protect the spinal cord, and it acts as a lubricant and cushion for your joints. Adequate water intake enables your body to excrete waste through perspiration, urination, and defecation. The kidneys and liver use it to help flush out waste, as do your intestines. Water can also keep you from getting constipated by softening your stools and helping move the food you've eaten through your intestinal tract. However, it should be noted that there is no evidence to prove that increasing your fluid intake will cure constipation. Digestion starts with saliva, the basis of which is water. Digestion relies on enzymes that are found in saliva to help break down food and liquid and to dissolve minerals and other nutrients. Proper digestion makes minerals and nutrients more accessible to the body. Water is also necessary to help you digest soluble fiber. With the help of water, this fiber dissolves easily and benefits your bowel health by making well-formed, soft stools that are easy to pass.

CHIROPRACTIC: Chiropractic and DNA Repair: Serum Thiol Can regular Chiropractic care affect you on a genetic level? The answer is yes. But how? DNA is the molecule of life. It contains our genes which make us what we are. DNA makes up our chromosomes which are held in the nucleus of our cells. DNA is very fragile and susceptible to damage from environmental stresses. It is estimated that our cells experience anywhere from 1,000 to 1,000,000 incidences of DNA damage PER DAY. If this DNA damage is left and not repaired, our DNA sequences cannot be read or will not be read properly. This will result in abnormal cell function or expression. Going through life, we experience physical, chemical, and emotional dis-stress. These stresses affect the function of the nervous system. The investigators hypothesized that these disturbances in nerve function could affect oxidative stress and DNA repair on a cellular level. Oxidative stress, metabolically generating free radicals, is now a broadly accepted theory of how we age and develop disease. Oxidative stress results in DNA damage and inhibits DNA repair. DNA repair can be measured through blood tests that measure serum Thiol levels. The serum Thiol level is an indicator of the level of DNA repair. The higher serum Thiol, the more DNA repair, and the better your health and aging. In a landmark study published in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research, chiropractors collaborating with researchers at the University of Lund found that chiropractic care could influence basic physiological processes affecting oxidative stress and DNA repair.  These findings offer a scientific explanation for the positive health benefits reported by patients receiving chiropractic care. Long-term chiropractic care of two or more years was shown to re-establish a normal physiological state independent of age, sex, or nutritional supplements. Symptom-free or primary wellness subjects under chiropractic care demonstrated higher mean serum thiol levels than patients with active disease and produced some values that were higher than normal wellness values in non-chiropractic subjects.

IN THE NEWS: Masks — The Most Controversial COVID-19 Debate? By: Dr. Joseph Mercola an osteopathic physician (DO)---- Science clearly shows face coverings of various kinds do little if anything to prevent respiratory illnesses caused by aerosolized viruses. Influenza viruses — coronaviruses that cause the common cold and SARS-CoV-2 — all spread via the air, not just via droplets or touching contaminated surfaces. Preventing droplet contamination does not mean you also prevent the transmission of the aerosolized virus. SARS-CoV-2 is a beta-coronavirus with a diameter between 60 nanometers (nm) and 140 nm, or 0.06 to 0.14 microns (micrometers). Virus-laden saliva or respiratory droplets expelled when talking or coughing measure between 5 and 10 microns. N95 masks can filter particles as small as 0.3 microns, so they may prevent a majority of respiratory droplets from escaping, but not aerosolized viruses. Lab testing has shown 3M surgical masks can block up to 75% of particles measuring between 0.02 microns and 1 micron while cloth masks block between 30% and 60% of respiratory particles of this size. Regardless of the mask, it will not prevent you from exhaling or inhaling the aerosolized virus, but cloth masks are clearly the least preferable option if you actually want to reduce the spread of infection, as their ability to block respiratory droplets is also limited.

WELLNESS: Sunscreen Chemicals Accumulate at High Levels in Your Body Results from two studies in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) show that some sunscreen ingredients enter the bloodstream and accumulate, leading the FDA to review their safety. Researchers found that the absorption of some sunscreen ingredients occurred after only one day of use, and levels in the body could last as long as a week. Studies have found the sunscreen ingredient oxybenzone in human breast milk, amniotic fluid, urine and blood and it may affect endocrine activity. The sunscreen ingredients oxybenzone and octinoxate cause coral bleaching and starve the coral of nutrients, increasing their risk of infection. According to the journal Medical Hypotheses, regular sun exposure is beneficial to your health. Strong warnings from medical associations and the media to avoid sun exposure or to apply sunscreens have resulted in many people being deprived of sunshine's multiple benefits. One of these is vitamin D production, and avoiding the sun may be the reason why so many people are deficient in vitamin D. While it's important to avoid getting sunburned, you need to take care in determining the best way to do that. Obviously, if they have chemicals in them that may not be safe, sunscreens come with their own set of dangers. But, avoiding the sun altogether also isn't good, since that can cause vitamin D deficiencies. This is particularly concerning because a deficiency in vitamin D can put you at risk of other health problems.

IN THE NEWS: COVID Advances New World Order — The Empire of Billionaires In March, the United Nations New World Order (UNNWO) announced its annual International Day of Happiness global campaign, along with a call for solidarity and unity in the global fight against COVID-19. The UNNWO goals, such as ending poverty, hunger, gender inequality and polluted water, sound admirable, but are just pawns used to further a one-world government regime with power concentrated in the hands of a few billionaires. A one-world government tactic that New World Order relies on is media censorship, which the liberal "fact-checking" group Media Matters is now advocating for anyone who doesn’t align with the New World Order mission. The World Health Organization, whose biggest funders include the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, aims to vaccinate everyone across the globe by 2030 and to track who has and has not been vaccinated. Finally, the adverse effects of vaccines in general are so well known, even Bill Gates — who is arguably the world's most passionate vaccine advocate — admits that as many as 700,000 could become victims of adverse reactions to the COVID-19 vaccine. It’s side effects — which can include deaths, but also anything from a light fever to a very serious, but not life-threatening event — that Gates specifically mentioned.

WELLNESS: Vitamin deficiencies Due to depleted soil and faulty diets vitamin deficiencies develop which leads to health problems. There are some common vitamins: Vitamin A Widely known for its importance to good vision, vitamin A also supports the immune system and is necessary for a healthy pregnancy.  Vitamin A can come from both plant and animal sources. Plant sources include leafy green vegetables and orange and yellow fruits and vegetables. Animal sources include liver, salmon, and whole milk.  B1 Thiamin Produces cellular energy from food; required for the synthesis of DNA and RNA. B2 Riboflavin Helps the body produce energy; affects enzymes that influence the muscles, nerves, and heart. B3 Niacin Energy production; helps keep the skin, nervous system, and digestive system healthy, helps with circulation of the blood. CHIROPRACTIC: Benefits of Chiropractic Adjustments If you frequently deal with symptoms like joint pain, backaches or headaches, but are yet to ever visit a chiropractor for help, then you may be missing out on an effective and natural treatment option. Millions of people around the world have experienced the incredible benefits of chiropractic care, a holistic, non-invasive treatment approach that has been shown to help treat dozens of different conditions. One of the best things about receiving chiropractic adjustments is that they are a completely drug-free path to healing the body naturally. Chiropractic benefits including helping to naturally improve problems such as Back pain, Headaches, Bowel regularity, Improved mental clarity, Ear infections, Neck pain, Arthritis, and joint pain, Scoliosis, Asthma, Blood pressure, Healthy pregnancy, Organ function, Surgery prevention. Most of the benefits associated with chiropractic care are due to patients receiving specific chiropractic adjustments. Chiropractic care aims to address the whole body, enhancing patients’ ability to think, move, and perform.

FUNNY BONE: I was caring for a woman and asked, “So how’s your breakfast this morning?” “It’s very good, except for the Kentucky Jelly. I can’t seem to get used to the taste,” the patient replied. I then asked to see the jelly and the woman produced a foil packet labeled “KY Jelly.” —Dr. Leonard Kransdorf@@ Now thankfully this story did not result in death but goes to show you how sloppy handwriting can be a major problem in healthcare. A woman in Arkansas brought her baby in to see the doctor, and he determined right away the baby had an earache. He wrote a prescription for eardrops. In the directions he wrote, “Put two drops in right ear every four hours” and he abbreviated “right” as an R with a circle around it. Several days passed, and the woman returned with her baby, complaining that the baby still had an earache, and his little behind was getting really greasy with all those drops of oil. The doctor looked at the bottle of eardrops and sure enough, the pharmacist had typed the following instructions on the label: “Put two drops in R ear every four hours.” – From Cafe Mom@@ A man comes into the ER and yells, ‘My wife’s going to have her baby in the cab!’ I grabbed my stuff, rushed out to the cab, lifted the lady’s dress, and began to take off her underwear. Suddenly I noticed that there were several cabs — and I was in the wrong one. —Dr. Mark MacDonald

IN THE NEWS: Oregano and rosemary lower blood sugar and prevent diabetes by: Karen Sanders, staff writer | July 19, 2020 (NaturalHealth365) Diabetes, which currently affects more than 10 percent of the American population, is increasing at an unprecedented rate.  In fact, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “diabetes or prediabetes affects over 100 million people in the U.S.” An alarming statistic, to say the least! New research: Rosemary and oregano work just like prescription drugs – yet safer. In a study conducted by researchers from the American Chemical Society and published in Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, rosemary and oregano were found to inhibit an enzyme, dipeptidyl peptidase IV, that promotes the secretion of insulin. Protein tyrosine phosphatase – which plays a role in insulin signaling – has led researchers to conclude that the herbs could be useful in preventing and treating diabetes. If you don’t have access to fresh rosemary and oregano, no worries – although, of course, it is always preferable to use fresh, organic herbs whenever possible, the dried “supermarket” version is just as effective when it comes to lowering blood sugar. The researchers tested the effects of both greenhouse-grown and commercial dried extracts.  Not surprisingly, they found that the greenhouse version of the herbs had higher levels of beneficial polyphenols and flavonoids. However, the commercial dried extracts functioned just as well to lower blood sugar. Courtesy of their high levels of phytochemicals, both rosemary and oregano are potent inflammation fighters. This pair of herbs is particularly rich in gallic acid, with some samples containing as much 430 micrograms per milligram of dried weight. In another study published in 2014 in International Journal of Inflammation, gallic acid not only had a beneficial effect on mice with laboratory-induced sepsis, it completely reversed lipid peroxidation – the damaging degradation of fats. According to several studies conducted at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, several enhanced proprietary rosemary and spearmint extracts improved the cognitive performance of animals with age-related cognitive decline. The research team expressed hope that the herbs could be used to reduce cognitive problems occurring in the early stages of dementia. Diabetes.org  Sciencedaily.com  ACS.org  Phytochemicals.info

WELLNESS:Foods That Boost the Immune System Feeding your body certain foods may help keep your immune system strong. If you’re looking for ways to prevent colds, the flu, and other infections, your first step should be a visit to your local grocery store. Plan your meals to include these powerful immune system boosters. Citrus fruits Most people turn straight to vitamin C after they’ve caught a cold. That’s because it helps build up your immune system. Vitamin C is thought to increase the production of white blood cells, which are key to fighting infections Red bell peppers If you think citrus fruits have the most vitamin C of any fruit or vegetable, think again. Ounce for ounce, red bell peppers contain almost 3 times as much vitamin C  as a Florida orange. They’re also a rich source of beta carotene. Broccoli is supercharged with vitamins and minerals. Packed with vitamins A, C, and E, as well as fiber and many other antioxidants, broccoli is one of the healthiest vegetables you can put on your plate. Garlic is found in almost every cuisine in the world. It adds a little zing to food and it’s a must-have for your health. Early civilizations recognized its value in fighting infections. Garlic may also slow down hardening of the arteries, and there’s weak evidence that it helps lower blood pressure. Garlic’s immune-boosting properties seem to come from a heavy concentration of sulfur-containing compounds, such as allicin. Ginger  is another ingredient many turn to after getting sick. Ginger may help decrease inflammation, which can help reduce a sore throat and inflammatory illnesses. Ginger may help with nausea as well. Spinach made our list not just because it’s rich in vitamin C — it’s also packed with numerous antioxidants and beta carotene, which may both increase the infection-fighting ability of our immune systems. Yogurt Look for yogurts that have the phrase “live and active cultures” printed on the label, like Greek yogurt. These cultures may stimulate your immune system to help fight diseases. Try to get plain yogurts rather than the kind that are flavored and loaded with sugar.

CONDITION OF THE WEEK: Depression With the restrictions with this pandemic, issues with depression have been increasing. There are things that you can do to improve your moods which include chiropractic adjustments, electrotherapy, exercise, focused relaxation and nutritional therapy. Patients who receive regular chiropractic care notice a greater sense of well-being. That's due to a cascade of chemicals released from the brain through adjustments. The FDA has approved neural stimulation devices a few years ago that use low dose electrical stimulation at certain frequencies to improve depression, anxiety and sleep disorders, pulse magnetic therapy has also been shown to be effective. Focused relaxation along with music or nature sounds can also be effective as well as exercise that increases endorphins and other chemicals that can help with depression. Nutrients like L-tryptophan and L- tyrosine can help in the regulation of serotonin and dopamine to improve depression in many patients. If you suffer from anxiety, depression or sleep disorders give us a call.

FUNNY BONE:  'Marriage is a relationship in which one person is always right, and the other is usually the husband.' When our lawn mower broke and wouldn't run, my wife kept hinting to me that I should get it fixed. Somehow I always had something else to take care of first: the truck, the car, email, fishing, always something more important to me. Finally she thought of a clever way to make her point. When I arrived home one day, I found her seated in the tall grass, busily snipping away with a tiny pair of sewing scissors. I watched silently for a short time and then went into the house. I was gone only a few minutes. When I came out again I handed her a toothbrush. 'When you finish cutting the grass,' I said, 'you might as well sweep the driveway.' The doctors say I will walk again, but I will always have a limp.@@ My wife sat down on the couch next to me as I was flipping channels. She asked, 'What's on TV?' I said, 'Dust.' And then the fight started.....@@ I asked my wife, 'Where do you want to go for our anniversary?' It warmed my heart to see her face melt in sweet appreciation. 'Somewhere I haven't been in a long time.' she said. So I suggested, 'How about the kitchen?' And that's when the fight started....@@ I took my wife to a restaurant. The waiter, for some reason, took my order first. 'I'll have the rump steak, medium rare, please.' She said, 'Aren't you worried about the mad cow?' 'Nah, she can order for herself.' And then the fight started...

IN THE NEWS: The COVID-19 Curve Has Been Flattened Even though the COVID-19 curve has been flattened, mainstream media outlets continues to push doomsday predictions of an impending explosion of deaths. According to Stanford University's disease prevention chairman Dr. John Ioannidis, the COVID-19 fatality rate for those under the age of 45 is “almost zero,” and between the ages of 45 and 70, it’s somewhere between 0.05% and 0.3%. So, the fact that young and middle-aged adults are testing positive in droves is not a warning sign of an impending onslaught of deaths, as the risk of death in these age groups is minuscule. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the COVID-19 mortality — which had declined for the last 10 weeks straight — “is currently at the epidemic threshold,” meaning if it declines just a little more, COVID-19 will no longer be considered an epidemic. The sharp increases in “cases” are not proof of disease spread but, rather, the spread of testing.

WELLNESS:  Save your teeth: Discover natural ways to improve gum health   (NaturalHealth365)  Naturally, everybody wants healthy teeth and gums – especially when you consider the connection between poor oral health and chronic disease. Unfortunately, in order to avoid tooth loss, it would appear that too many people remain uneducated about how to improve gum health – the key to maintaining strong teeth. So, how do we avoid gum disease1. Consume calcium-rich foods:   Please note: We do not recommend the consumption of calcium supplements that can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. Having said that, Calcium, of course, is important for your bone growth and formation but even more important is the mineral called silica (silicon dioxide). You don't have enough of this mineral in your diet and you can take a ton of calcium and brush your teeth five times a day and still lose your teeth, just like your hair in the shower, as you get older without it. Simply put, you’re at higher risk for periodontal disease if you don’t get enough calcium. Focus on healthy sources such as organic dark, leafy green vegetables, sesame seeds, wild-caught salmon, and other plant sources like organic broccoli and chia seeds. 2. Avoid plaque with xylitol: Xylitol is a sugar alcohol in some fruits, such as berries and plums. Because it tastes sweet, has fewer calories than sugar, and does not spike your blood sugar levels the way sugar does, the food industry uses it as a sugar substitute in some sugar-free gums and candies. Using a xylitol-containing (or herbal) toothpaste can reduce plaque formation and neutralize some bacteria in your saliva that produce acid and contribute to tooth decay. When brushing, you may also like to use essential oils like, clove, neem and peppermint. 3. Reduce inflammation: Your gums are inflamed if you have gingivitis and periodontitis – which is more advanced gum disease.  Bottom line: bleeding gums is not a good sign.  Be sure to increase your anti-inflammatory activities like, salt water rinsing to reduce the risk of swelling, redness and infections. In addition, supplementation with fish oil and borage oil provide essential fatty acids. can Plus, to help reduce inflammation, you may want to consider: Vitamin D supplementation to optimize your blood levels-Topical folic acid-Probiotics – which you can get from miso, tempeh, kombucha or supplements-Pomegranate. 4. Eat lots of antioxidants: Antioxidants protect cells against damage from chemicals called free radicals. There are a variety of antioxidants which slow down the progression of periodontal disease or reduce symptoms, including: Vitamin C – which you can get from citrus fruits and vegetables or in a high-quality nutritional supplement. CHIROPRACTIC: How to Become a Chiropractor. Chiropractors must earn a Doctor of Chiropractic (D.C.) degree and get a state license. Doctor of Chiropractic programs typically takes 4 years to complete and require at least 3 years of undergraduate college education for admission. Education. Chiropractors begin their education by getting an undergraduate degree with a focus in the sciences. After graduation, they move on to a four-year chiropractic program with both classes and hands-on experience. Chiropractors perform many of the same tasks as other general and specialty doctors. Patient health histories are gathered, physical, neurological, and orthopedic examinations are performed, and various laboratory tests, x-rays, and diagnostic imaging tools are used to diagnose and analyze the patient's condition. Other forms of treatment may be used or recommended by the chiropractor including ultrasound, massage, heat, water, acupuncture, or electric currents. Prescription drugs and surgery are not part of the services provided by chiropractors. Chiropractors may recommend patients to see other doctors or specialists to address health issues or concerns outside of their area of expertise. Some chiropractors choose to specialize in a certain type of practice, such as orthopedics, neurology, sports injuries, internal disorders, diagnostic imaging, or pediatrics. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts a job growth increase of 17% in the chiropractic field over the next seven years. An increasing public interest in alternative healthcare methods is beneficial to the chiropractic field. The public is seeking healthy living options which do not include prescription medicines or surgery; instead, a substantial number of people are searching for solutions which emphasize healthy lifestyles. The non-invasive procedures provided by chiropractors in answer to their patients’ health issues and concerns appeals to the segment of the public looking for these types of answers.

CHIROPRACTIC: Why do we get sick, why does our body experience pain? There isn't a simple answer to this because there are multiple answers from faulty diet, genetics, toxic environment, injuries etc. etc. How do our bodies function normally? Grey's Anatomy book says the nervous system controls and coordinates every organ, part, and system of the body and relates the individual to their environment. For your stomach to properly digest it is told what to do through the nervous system. To maintain the normal blood sugar in your body the nervous system has to coordinate several organs to properly control blood sugar. For a minute let's just focus on the nervous system and forget about diet, exercise, stress reduction, and detoxification. To put it one way you have a doctor inside, you can cut your hand and if you clean it properly the cut will heal over time without any outside help. That ability to heal itself is important for our ability to stay healthy. The nervous system literally keeps track of thousands upon thousands of incoming impulses that tell it your hormone levels, your cholesterol levels, your protein levels, the number of digestive enzymes that you have produced etc. etc. The brain analyzes that information and formulates appropriate information to send out to the body to maintain homeostasis. Your ability to maintain homeostasis is your ability to stay healthy. Sure you need to give your body the building blocks by eating properly and there are other laws of health but maintaining the proper balance of the nervous system is fundamental to good health. The body's intelligence works through the nervous system to keep you healthy and if that information is blocked by stress on the nerves from misaligned vertebra then your body cannot properly adapt to the ever-present changes taking place inside. This blockage of information leads to malfunction at the cellular and organ levels and over time this leads to dysfunction and eventually to disease if not corrected. It's been said that a chiropractic patient has an immune system 200 times more efficient than the average person on the street. Regular adjustments help maintain a higher level of function of the organs, systems, and glands of the body. Unfortunately, you don't always feel pain when you need to be adjusted. That's why chiropractic physicians have several diagnostic tools in order to determine where misalignments are and how to correct them. There are 5 laws of health that we encourage our patients to follow one is diet (eating right for your genetic makeup), exercise (exercises that are consistent with your genetic makeup), rest and relaxation (you should sleep between 7 and 9 hours depending on different factors), a positive mental and spiritual attitude (studies show those who practice spiritual disciplines are healthier than the general population) and the last thing is maintaining a healthy nervous system. When you get adjusted you clear the interference of the necessary information to maintain normal function. People who get regular adjustments have a better sense of well-being because nerve pressure sends stress signals to your brain. Stay regular with your chiropractic care! In today's reality of a pandemic, a healthy nervous system is crucial. A healthy nervous system equals a healthy immune system.

WELLNESS: immune-enhancing Role of Vitamin C and Zinc and Effect on Clinical Conditions  Vitamin C concentrations in the plasma and leukocytes rapidly decline during infections and stress. Supplementation of vitamin C was found to improve components of the human immune system such as antimicrobial and natural killer cell activities, lymphocyte proliferation, chemotaxis, and delayed-type hypersensitivity. Vitamin C contributes to maintaining the redox integrity of cells and thereby protects them against reactive oxygen species generated during the respiratory burst and in the inflammatory response. Likewise, zinc undernutrition or deficiency was shown to impair cellular mediators of innate immunity such as phagocytosis, natural killer cell activity, and the generation of oxidative burst. Therefore, both nutrients play important roles in immune function and the modulation of host resistance to infectious agents, reducing the risk, severity, and duration of infectious diseases. This is of special importance in populations in which insufficient intake of these nutrients is prevalent. In the developing world, this is the case in low- and middle-income countries, but also in subpopulations in industrialized countries, e.g. in the elderly. A large number of randomized controlled intervention trials with intakes of up to 1 g of vitamin C and up to 30 mg of zinc are available. These trials document that adequate intakes of vitamin C and zinc ameliorate symptoms and shorten the duration of respiratory tract infections including the common cold. Furthermore, vitamin C and zinc reduce the incidence and improve the outcome of pneumonia, malaria, and diarrhea infections, especially in children in developing countries.

IN THE NEWS: Who Makes It Rain? Cloud seeding, in which dry ice pellets or silver iodide are applied to certain clouds to modify their output, is used to increase precipitation, decrease hail and clear fog. “In North Dakota, all seeding is done by aircraft. Base-seeding aircraft release seeding agent into updrafts from below the developing storm using a combination of wing-mounted ice nucleus generators and burn-in-place flares. Cloud-top seeding aircraft use ejectable flares and dry ice released directly into the supercooled cloud.” North Dakota reports that cloud seeding produces an estimated 5 percent to 10 percent additional rainfall annually while reducing crop hail losses by 45 percent. A group of North Dakota farmers has asked the County Commission to halt cloud-seeding programs for the remainder of the season, with some opponents suggesting the practice may be making dry conditions worse. June 9, 1972, is a date etched in the memories of many Rapid City, South Dakota, residents. During a period of just six hours, 10 inches of rain fell on the city, adding up to 14 inches overnight. Area streams overflowed and a dam at Canyon Lake failed, leading to massive flooding in the city that killed 238 people and injured 3,000 more.

WELLNESS: Grape seed extract (GSE) is a dietary supplement made by removing, drying, and pulverizing the bitter-tasting seeds of grapes. Grape seeds are rich in antioxidants, including phenolic acids, anthocyanins, flavonoids, and oligomeric proanthocyanidin complexes (OPCs). A review of 16 studies in 810 people found reduction in systolic and diastolic blood pressure. It has been shown to improve blood flow and could reduce oxidative damage as well as enhance collagen levels and bone strength. The flavonoids in combination with the antioxidants have an anti-inflammatory property that might delay neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's disease. Vitamin A&D and the lungs Vitamin A is involved in the proliferation and maintenance of epithelial cells, including those of the respiratory tract. It is a major factor regulating differentiation and maturation of the lung, and maternal vitamin A deficiency during pregnancy could have lasting adverse effects on the lung health of the offspring. Experts say vitamin D can decrease symptoms of the lung disease. People with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) can reduce some symptoms by taking regular doses of vitamin D. Experts believe vitamins A, C, and E—the so-called ACE antioxidants—combat oxidative stress in the lungs that can lead to COPD. Several studies have shown that these vitamins, as well as vitamin D, may help improve lung health.

CHIROPRACTIC:  Before I started chiropractic care, I suffered from constant aching in my back, even after back surgery, so much so that I limped at times. Originally I went for chiropractic care to help me heal from a fall and eventually found relief from my asthma. I began to learn about how chiropractor care works and as my shoulder improved so did my asthma attacks. Chiropractic relieved the stress on my nervous system with adjustments to my upper spine. It sounds so simple but the adjustments enabled my body to fend off the pollens successfully. I stopped the steroids and no chest infections for many years. No one is more surprised than my allergist and my family. I am free. C.M.----"I was going through a period of complete exhaustion.
