IN THE NEWS: Resistance to antidepressants linked to metabolism “Many patients who suffer from depression do not respond to conventional antidepressant treatment, so we set out to examine the molecular changes that might explain this resistance,” says first author Benedetta Bigio, a bioinformatics specialist in Bruce McEwen’s Rockefeller lab. L-acetyl carnitine is naturally produced by the brain, liver, and kidneys. When given to rats and mice, it has been shown to rapidly alleviate depression-like symptoms by improving harmful imbalances in the brain’s glutamate signaling system. The researchers have also begun looking for abnormalities in natural LAC levels in people with depression. When the researchers took a closer look, they found 27 genes that seemed to be involved in resistance to the low-dose L-acetyl carnitine treatment, and, they suspect, to conventional antidepressants. These included those involved in the body’s ability to use fatty acids, as well as respond to insulin. Note: Chiropractic and nutrition can help with depression.

WELLNESS: Why Are Vaccine Rights Being Removed While Safety Issues Are Increasingly Brought to the Fore? Aluminum is a well-documented neurotoxin linked with Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, asthma, hyperactivity and Down's syndrome. Despite these dangers, adequate clinical research proving aluminum adjuvants to be safe has never been done. Implementation of one-size-fits-all mandatory vaccination laws fail to respect biodiversity and human rights and violate informed consent ethic and freedom of thought, speech, conscience and religious belief. Parents and the nonprofit Education 4 All have filed a lawsuit to overturn the mandatory vaccination law in California, which requires all children to be fully vaccinated in order to attend public or private school and/or daycare. Cochrane Nordic Center has filed a complaint with the European Medicines Agency (EMA), questioning the EMA’s 2015 Assessment Report on the safety of HPV vaccines.
