IN THE NEWS: Kids’ drug-resistant bacteria blamed on farm antibiotic use Children’s health is suffering due to the excessive use of antibiotics in farm animals, according to a new report. Kids are becoming infected with bacteria that are resistant to treatment with the same antibiotics that are commonly used in raising farm animals, and it is difficult to treat children who are infected with the drug-resistant bacteria, the report said. More than 2 million Americans get sick with antimicrobial-resistant infections each year, and more than 23,000 die as a result of these infections, according to the federal statistics cited in the new report, published today (Nov. 16) in the journal Pediatrics.

WELLNESS:  Alzheimer’s and Lyme —Two Diseases Driven by Inappropriate Interventions in the Food Chain Alzheimer’s and Lyme disease are caused by disruptions in the food chain. In our efforts to create a cheaper food system, we’ve cut too many corners, and made too many dangerous shortcuts. Alzheimer’s may be driven by two diet-related problems: excessive sugar consumption, and the creation of brain-wasting proteins in our meat supply, as a result of turning herbivores into carnivores (confined animal feeding operations). Rodents are the primary tick-bearing host spreading Lyme disease; agricultural and urban sprawl and a decreased coyote population have eliminated many of the rodent’s natural predators, allowing the disease to spread faster and wider.

CHIROPRACTIC: The largest natural healthcare system in the world is also one of the safest. Over the years our competitors in drug therapy have tried to eliminate chiropractic. When they found that was a losing battle then they started spreading lies about chiropractic to scare people away. One of the lies is that chiropractic is dangerous and an adjustment particularly of the cervical spine could have devastating effects. It’s kind of disturbing on several levels that they would stoop to such lies given the fact that medical care is the number one cause of death in United States based on CDC statistics. One of the simplest most direct proofs about this lie is chiropractic malpractice insurance. Of all the professions we pay pennies on the dollar to what our distractors have to pay for similar coverage. Do insurance companies just love chiropractors? Insurance companies are a business based on statistical risks. Chiropractic earns its extremely low malpractice rates due to safety of its procedures. Yet chiropractors see and help a wide range of healthcare challenges. Chiropractors work to enhance the body’s own recuperative powers and combine that with lifestyle changes including exercise, diet and targeted nutritional therapy to recover health and maintain optimal function. Even most chiropractic patients don’t realize how much chiropractic can do to improve their health. If you have a health challenge that up to now you have not brought to our attention because you didn’t think we could help then do yourself a favor and ask. Chiropractic offers some of the most effective solutions to our most common healthcare challenges.

FUNNY BONE: Light travels faster then sound… which is why most people appear brilliant until you hear them.@@ There is a light at the end of every tunnel, just pray it’s not a train.@@ Of course men can multitask, they read on the toilet.@@ A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.@@ Whenever I fill out an application, in the part that says “If an emergency, notify:” I put “DOCTOR”. What’s my mother going to do?@@ My opinions may have changed, but not the fact that I am right.
