IN THE NEWS:Fast-Tracked COVID-19 Vaccine — What Could Go Wrong? The COVID-19 vaccine may in fact be the most fast-tracked vaccine ever created in all history, which necessitates the elimination of required safety testing steps, such as animal testing. Pfizer in collaboration with BioNTech began human trials in the U.S. of a COVID-19 vaccine on May 11, 2020. If successful, the vaccine could be released as early as September 2020 with an FDA-approved Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). Like Moderna and several other competitors, the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is using messenger RNA (mRNA) rather than live or attenuated (inactivated) viruses grown in animal cells. Previous attempts to create coronavirus vaccines have failed due to coronaviruses triggering production of two different types of antibodies — one that fights disease and one that triggers “paradoxical immune enhancement” that often results in very serious disease and/or death. Vaccines that caused paradoxical immune enhancement initially looked very promising as they produced very robust antibody responses. Yet when exposed to the wild virus, ferrets and children became severely ill and many died.
WELLNESS: The Case for Avoiding Plant Foods — Reckless or Beneficial? Evidence suggests we are descendants of omnivores, and that the increase in brain volume coincides with a transition to hunting for animal game and eating large amounts of animal foods. Phytoalexins are plant defense compounds that may be causing more harm than good when consumed, and people generally underestimate just how many defense compounds are in plant foods. It is commonly believed that plant molecules act as antioxidants in humans, but they do not act as direct free radical scavengers in your body; rather, they trigger your antioxidant response system — a mechanism known as hormesis. Animal foods are uniquely healthy for humans and provide all the nutrients required for optimal health, including vitamins A, C, E, and K2, as well as choline, carnitine, and creatine. Evidence suggests the reason people live longer in certain areas known as Blue Zones has to do with healthy lifestyle behaviors such as not smoking or drinking and staying active; it does not appear to have anything to do with shunning meat and animal foods. NOTE: There is no one diet for everyone. 75% of the population would do well on a high-protein diet i.e. meat. But 25% of the population needs a diet high in vegetables and grains to stay at their best. Filling out a body type questionnaire is the best way to determine what kind of diet you should be on.
CHIROPRACTIC: Chiropractic Care for Overall Health and Wellness For ages, chiropractors were only sought after to treat back pain. Nowadays, more and more people are turning to alternative forms of healthcare such as Chiropractic Care for all their health needs. To find out how a chiropractor may be able to help you, check out these remarkable benefits that come from seeking a chiropractor for regular care. Immune System It never hurts to give your immune system a boost to protect yourself from illness and injury. It has often been reported that when your central nervous system is in good shape, your other systems are able to work more efficiently as well. This includes your immune system. The immune system is your body’s defense against infections such as sicknesses, viruses, and bacteria. Spinal adjustments have been shown to boost immune function because adjustments allow correction to spinal misalignments that cause neural dysfunction. When a person as neural dysfunction it stresses the body out, in turn, may lead to a weakened immune system and lower response to a foreign body, like a virus. And no matter the time of year, it never hurts to give your immune system a boost. Individuals who receive regular chiropractic care report healthier immune systems as well as an overall healthier body. It only takes one adjustment to bring about an immediate immune boost. Higher Activity Level It is no secret, that activity and exercise are key to ensure you have some control over your overall wellness. Though, people that participate in higher activity levels, can benefit from chiropractic care in many ways. When an athlete gets an adjustment, this can help improve athletic performance due to alleviating stressors within the body's nervous system, as well as anchoring the muscles throughout the whole body. Also, regular adjustments can help improve range of motion and decrease recovery time through adjustments and small tissue manipulation that helps break up scar tissue to increase flexibility, elasticity, and strength throughout recovery. Back and Neck Health This is the most understandable benefit of chiropractic care. You see, when your spine is aligned it leads to a healthier back and neck. When your back and neck are in good health, you have a reduction in tension and pain, as well as a more efficient central nervous system.
FUNNY BONE: What does a biologist wear on a first date? Designer genes!@@A poodle and a collie are walking together when the poodle suddenly unloads on his friend. “My life is a mess,” he says. “My owner is mean, my girlfriend ran away with a schnauzer, and I’m as jittery as a cat.” “Why don’t you go see a psychiatrist?” suggests the collie. “I can’t,” says the poodle. “I’m not allowed on the couch.”
