IN THE NEWS:Skip the anti-bacterial soap: regular suds work just as well Regular soap is just as effective as anti-bacterial soap at getting rid of germs through hand washing, a new study finds. This is hardly the first study to find no difference between the two types of soap, but it is the first to test regular and anti-bacterial soaps against 20 strains of bacteria in a lab, the researchers said. The investigators also tested the soaps on people’s dirty hands. Today, manufacturers add triclosan to an array of products, including toothpaste, shampoo, clothing, kitchenware, furniture and toys, with the goal of reducing or preventing bacterial contamination and growth, the researchers said. However, triclosan has been linked to several negative effects on health. Research has tied it to antibiotic resistance among germs, and allergies and hormone disruption in people. One study even found that long-term exposure to triclosan might cause cancer in mice.
WELLNESS: Controlling blood sugar may help prevent dementia, study finds Controlling blood-sugar levels may help prevent dementia, a study released on Tuesday showed, offering hope to patients with diabetes that keeping glucose levels in check might reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease and other types of cognitive impairments. Studying 350,000 patients with Type 2 diabetes, researchers at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden found that those with poor blood-sugar control had a 50% higher risk of being admitted to hospital than those with good control. Scientists have previously suggested a link between elevated blood-sugar levels and Alzheimer’s disease, but the researchers said this was the first large-scale study looking at how controlling the presence of glucose in the blood affected the risk of being diagnosed with dementia in the future.

Over the years patients have asked this question, due to things that they’ve heard on both sides of the question. So let’s look at the First component. Are vaccines safe? What kind of safety testing is done on vaccines? And what is in vaccines?
As far as what is in vaccines, that question might be difficult to fully answer because there is some evidence that the manufacturers are not required to list everything. But here’s what we know for sure: Vaccines contain aluminum, antibiotics, egg protein, formaldehyde, monosodium glutamate and Thimerosal; a mercury-containing preservative.
Varicella (chickenpox), rubella, hepatitis A, shingles and one preparation of rabies vaccine are all made in fetal embryo fibroblast cells. These cells were first obtained from elective termination of two pregnancies in the early 1960s.
Other ingredients include soy and other proteins, artificial colors and sweeteners. A complete list can be found on the CDC’s website under “Vaccine Excipients and Media Summary”.
Some suspect that there are unstated ingredients like peanut oil.
“There is adequate scientific evidence that peanut oil (arachis oil) has been used in vaccines since the 1960’s. If current vaccine package inserts do not contain the specific evidence that peanut oil, or peanut meal, is contained within the final vaccine product, it does not mean that peanut antigen is not in the final vaccine product. Vaccine manufacturers use different growth media on which to manufacture the vaccines. They do not report, and I believe are not required to report, the exact ingredients in all of the growth media. Therefore, we may not know whether peanut antigen is used in the vaccine manufacturing process just by reading through the package inserts. Our lack of knowledge about it does not mean it isn’t knowledge waiting to be discovered. And, it may, or may not, have anything to do with an attempt to purposely hide the information that peanut antigen is present in vaccines.” Lawrence Palevsky MD
Now if we look at the two main toxic metals that are in most childhood vaccines this becomes a potential health disaster. If you consider that the average person, by age 18 receive 69 doses of 16 different vaccines that’s a lot of mercury and aluminum. When you see the following quotes and statements from those who are supposed to be experts, you have to wonder: “Unfortunately, there is limited experience regarding the toxicity of Thimerosal and the content of mercury it presents, despite the long history of use. Robert Pless, M.D. National Immunization Program, CDC.” —– “In 1999, FDA determined that under the recommended childhood immunization schedule, infants might be exposed to cumulative doses of ethyl mercury that exceed some federal safetyguidelines established for ingestion of methylmercury, another form of organic mercury.”
If that’s not disturbing enough here some of the things we know about the effects of aluminum and mercury:
How Aluminum Affects Neurological Health: – Reduces nervous system activity by blocking the action potential of nerve cells – Inhibits enzymes in the brain- Inhibits the uptake of Dopamine, Noradrenaline (Norepinephrine), and Serotonin by nerve cells
Symptoms of aluminum toxicity: flatulence, headaches, colic, dryness of skin and mucous membranes, tendency for colds, burning pain in the head relieved by food, heartburn, aversion to meat also other associated aluminum problems can be Alzheimer’s disease, hyperparathyroidism, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, kidney dysfunction, liver dysfunction, anemia, neuromuscular disorder, hemolysis, leukocytosis, osteomalacia, Parkinson’s disease, and the list goes on.
Mercury is known to cause the following symptoms: mood swings, nervousness, irritability, and other emotional changes, insomnia, headache, abnormal sensations, muscle twitching, tremors, weakness, muscle atrophy, and decreased cognitive functions.
Not only does the government admit that these toxic metals exceed their own guidelines for safety the potential for allergic responses to all the other ingredients is quite troubling when you see the amount of food allergies showing up in the average child.
Now when you’re trying to balance risk and benefit it’s important that you have all the facts. And the fact is today that most childhood diseases are not life-threatening for the vast majority of children. 100 years ago that was a different story. In fact the prevalence of these diseases was substantially higher than they are today. Those who are pro-vaccine like to attribute the vaccines for the lower rate of disease but history doesn’t bear that out. In fact as you look at most childhood diseases like measles both the infection rate and the death rate were already in sharp decline before vaccines.
Medical historians say that better sanitation, cleaner water and better food supply have made more of an overall improvement to public health than any medical intervention has. Most disease graphs will show you these childhood diseases were in sharp decline before the vaccines were introduced. When the vaccines were introduced there was an uptick in the cases of the disease before the decline continued. And so, in my opinion, the benefit is somewhat questionable. If you look at, for instance measles, the risk-benefit is that most kids will have a fever and feel uncomfortable for about a week and then have lifetime immunity. In fact in the past parents chose to engage in what were called “measles parties” where they would intentionally expose their kids to someone with the measles so they could develop a lifetime immunity. As far as the vaccinated population there have been many breakthrough occurrences of the childhood disease in the fully vaccinated population. Also keep in mind the MMR vaccine is one of the most prone to damage of all of vaccines based on the “Vaccine court” records.
The other side of the safety issue is what kind of studies have been done to assure the vaccines are safe? For instance if you are a drug manufacturer and you want to bring a new drug to market, one of the types of testing you need to do is compare the effect of your drug to a placebo. In other words you’ll give a group of people your medication and another group gets a placebo which is classically called a sugar pill. In other words a placebo should be a substance that causes no negative or positive side effects. That way you can clearly see the negative effects the drug might have as well as the positive ones.
Not so with vaccines. To my knowledge vaccine safety studies are the only ones that compare one drug to another drug. In other words, instead of using the placebo they use another vaccine as the placebo. Outrageous; this is one of the best ways to cover some of the side effects of the vaccine. With this dishonest safety study method it’s impossible to properly evaluate a vaccine’s safety.
Let’s talk a second about effectiveness. Let’s say you want to bring a drug to market that you say reduces heart attacks. So how would you determine that? Again you would have a population where half get the drug and the other half you give a placebo or give nothing at all and study the effects in both groups. Let’s say the drug group had 20 heart attacks and the placebo group had 80 by the end of the study. This would give you some idea that maybe the medication does prevent heart attacks.
But how do they determine the effectiveness of a vaccine? There are plenty in the population of unvaccinated kids and adults. It would be easy enough to do the above study but that’s not how they determine it, if it’s a vaccine. All they have to do is show antibody production after a vaccine, and they put a lot of stuff in a vaccine including heavy metals to stimulate an immune response. So they don’t have to show any difference between vaccinated populations and unvaccinated population to prove effectiveness. In my opinion this is a farce.
The bottom line is that we have to listen to either the loudest voice or the one that has the authority to punish you if you don’t comply. It’s disturbing how the use of intimidation, fear and outright lies are used to promote vaccines. If you’re a nurse you know what I’m talking about Maybe you’re a believer but still you have to admit that you’ve been trained to misrepresent the possible side effects when you’re talking to patients.
In Oklahoma you still have the right to choose between vaccinating your child or not. A simple exemption form available from the school nurse or the Oklahoma State Department of Health called the ODH form 216 – A, many of my patients tell me when they asked for such a form the school nurse she lies to them and says there is no such form and your child can’t come to school without being vaccinated. Why would there be an organized conspiracy of deception if there is clear evidence that vaccines are both safe and effective?
Is every child who gets a vaccine going to be severely damaged by it? Of course not. There are a lot of different factors that lead to reactions from vaccines. But all negative reactions to vaccines don’t always show up in the first month, year or even decade of life. Not only can the toxic metals and other additives to vaccines have the potential of causing long-term negative effects but the organism that they use in the vaccine has been known to set up housekeeping in the body commonly in the intestinal track producing long-term health problems.
Detoxification can be an important process in trying to eliminate the negative effects of vaccines. We recommend detoxification as a normal course of health recovery for most of our patients. But in some cases specialized procedures are needed to try to root out the viruses that have been hiding in the body for years that have caused inflammation, cancers and other health problems. Again not everybody has these issues but, in my opinion, it brings up a risk-benefit evaluation that goes against vaccines.
A lot of times, if you look behind the hysteria associated with an outbreak like with measles, you’ll find in the vast majority of cases there is no long-term permanent catastrophic effect. The same can’t be said for children in third world countries who have horrible sanitation, dirty water and poor food supply. There you will find the very negative outcomes from the same diseases. In Africa they have found that giving a child one dose of 200,000 units of vitamin A will sharply decrease the death rate. There are more intelligent ways to deal with these childhood diseases then injecting toxic metals and other ingredients.
Just this week on an NPR station there was a heartbreaking story about the MMR vaccine. The parents had a healthy baby meeting all his developmental goals up to the point of getting the vaccine. They say on the way home from getting the vaccine the young child screamed constantly to the point they had to pull the car over to the side of the road. The child had a fever and when he woke up the next morning he was not the same child. The child suffered catastrophic brain injury that left him totally disabled into his adulthood. He has to be constantly monitored as he will run away if given the chance and has to wear adult diapers for the rest of his life.
I have found Studies that show unvaccinated children are a lot healthier than vaccinated ones. Buyer beware.
Here is one: A 20 year old study from the 1990’s has recently surfaced that compares unvaccinated children to vaccinated children. The study concludes that those who were vaccinated were more likely to suffer from the following illnesses:
and many other chronic conditions.
There was a 10-fold increase in cases of tonsillitis in the children who were vaccinated and a 100% absence of tonsillitis in those unvaccinated.
In 1992, the Immunization Awareness Society (IAS) conducted a survey to examine the health of New Zealand’s children. Unsurprisingly, the results of their study indicated that unvaccinated children were far healthier than vaccinated children.
Questionnaires were given out to IAS members, their friends and their associates asking various health questions. A total of 245 families returned their questionnaires, giving the researchers a total of 495 children surveyed. Of these children, 226 were vaccinated and 269 were unvaccinated.
Healthy Children and Ethics
The ages of the children ranged between the ages of two weeks – 46 years (obviously some friends were older with older children). Of the children studied, 273 were males and 216 were females. (Six children were unclassified.) Sue Claridge, who reported on the study, wrote: “Respondents were asked to provide the year of birth, gender, vaccinations received, whether or not the child suffered from a range of chronic conditions (asthma, eczema, ear infections/glue ear, recurring tonsillitis, hyperactivity, diabetes or epilepsy) whether or not he or she needed grommets, had had a tonsillectomy, or were shown to develop motor skills (walking, crawling, sitting-up etc.). Parents also provided information on breastfeeding and bottle feeding and when a child was weaned if breastfed.”During the study, another interesting fact emerged. Researchers discovered that 92 percent of the children requiring a tonsillectomy operation had received the measles vaccination, indicating that the vaccination for measles may have made some of the children more susceptible to tonsillitis. The study also revealed that 81 of the families had both vaccinated and unvaccinated children. Many of these families had vaccinated their older children but had grown more reluctant to vaccinate their younger children, due to their growing concerns regarding vaccine safety. Researchers concluded that: “While this was a very limited study, particularly in terms of the numbers of unvaccinated children that were involved and the range of chronic conditions investigated, it provides solid scientific evidence in support of considerable anecdotal evidence that unvaccinated children are healthier that their vaccinated peers.”  Although governments from around the world have continually stated that studying vaccinated versus unvaccinated children would be unethical, the New Zealand researchers are not the only group of researchers to study comparisons.
Vaccinated Children 5 Times More Likely To Suffer From A Range Of Diseases
In September 2011, German researchers carrying out a longitudinal study surveyed a total of 8000 unvaccinated children from the ages of 0 –19. As with the New Zealand study, researchers collected their data by conducting a survey using questionnaires.  Results showed that vaccinated children were up to five times more likely to suffer from a variety of diseases and disorders than unvaccinated children. Their results were compared to another German study (KiGGS), which examined a larger sample group consisting of 17,461 participants between the ages of 0 –17. Dr. Andreas Bachair, a German classical homeopathic practitioner, responsible for collecting the results of the survey from the website vaccineinjury.info stated that:“Asthma, hay fever and neurodermatitis are seen very frequently today. A recent German study with 17461 children between 0-17 years of age (KIGGS) showed that 4.7% of these children suffer from asthma, 10.7% of these children from hay fever and 13.2% from neurodermatitis. These numbers differ in western countries, i.e. the prevalence of asthma among children in the US is 6% whereas it is 14-16% in Australia (Australia’s Health 2004, AIHW).The prevalence of asthma among unvaccinated children in our study is around 2.5%, hay fever, 3%, and neurodermatitis, 7%. According to the KIGGS study more than 40% of children between the ages of 3 and 17 years were sensitized against at least one allergen tested (20 common allergens were tested) and 22.9% had an allergic disease. Although we did not perform a blood test, around 10% stated that their children had an allergy.”  (As this study is a longitudinal study, the number of children being studied has since risen to 13,222. Although there were four cases of autism reported among unvaccinated children, Dr. Bachair reported that: “Of these 4 children one tested very high for metals (mercury, aluminium, arsenic); in another case the mother was tested very high for mercury.” However, this number pales into insignificance when we compare it to the 1 in 88 children currently being reported as autistic by the CDC. 
Other Conditions Found To Be Almost Non-Existent In Unvaccinated Children
Dr. Andreas Bachair continued her report by stating that their study found the prevalence of sinusitis, warts, skin problems and middle ear infections were also much lower in the unvaccinated children, as were the cases of diabetes and epilepsy. She went on to say that the results demonstrated that the prevalence of many conditions in the unvaccinated children were also significantly lower. These were: “Other disorders and diseasesAs we included open questions in our survey we evaluated the prevalence (of the first 10,070 participants) of some other disorders and illnesses. Unvaccinated children show very low prevalences of the following disorders:
Speech delay/articulation problems: 0.38%
Sensory Processing disorder: 0.28%
Celiac disease: 0.12%
Gluten sensitivity: 0.41%
GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease): 0.06%”
Dr. Bachair concluded her amazing and intuitive paper by adding a number of statements from parents, which I believe really added weight to her overall findings.
No study of health outcomes of vaccinated people versus unvaccinated has ever been conducted in the U.S. by CDC or any other agency in the 50 years or more of an accelerating schedule of vaccinations (now over 60 doses of 14 vaccines given before kindergarten, 26 doses in the first year). Most data collected by CDC is contained in the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) database. The VAERS is generally thought to contain only 3 to 5 percent of reportable incidents. This is simply because only some immediate reactions are reported by doctors; but many are not admitted to be reactions to the vaccine. Most importantly, the VAERS numbers are only immediate reactions, which would take place within a few hours to a few weeks. Long-term vaccine-induced diseases and disorders are not recognized by parents or doctors when these conditions develop perhaps a few months to five years or more and would never be realized to come from multiple vaccinations. In other words, many children and adults have diseases and disorders that are vaccine induced and they never suspect they are from the vaccines, as this study indicates.
We find it amazing that despite mainstream media and leading government agencies stressing repeatedly that studies comparing vaccinated children to unvaccinated children cannot take place for ethical reasons, groups around the world are taking it upon themselves to do these studies anyway.
While surveys of this kind are often dismissed as being purely epidemiological and passed off as little more than stamp collecting, we believe that studies of this nature should not be dismissed out of hand. After all, many stamp collections contain just one stamp that is worth far more than its weight in gold.
These studies show without doubt that unvaccinated children are healthier than their vaccinated peers and, for this reason, these studies should be given careful consideration by all parents and professionals studying vaccination safety.

IN THE NEWS: Monsanto Bids to Take Over Syngenta—A Move to Assure a Pesticide-Saturated Future? Monsanto recently made a bid to take over Syngenta, the world’s largest pesticide producer. The $45.1 billion bid was rejected, but there’s still a chance for a merger. By trying to acquire Syngenta, Monsanto contradicts years of rhetoric about how its ultimate goal is to help farmers use less agrichemicals. More than 25 farmworker, environmental, and food safety organizations demand the USDA investigate reports of retaliation and suppression of research relating to the dangers of neonicotinoids and glyphosate. Not surprisingly, those who ate conventionally grown produce were found to have high concentrations of organophosphates (OPs) metabolites, whereas those who ate organic produce had significantly lower levels. Those who “often or always” ate organic had about 65 percent lower levels of pesticide residues compared to those who ate the least amount of organic produce. According to lead author Cynthia Curl: “The study suggests that by eating organically grown versions of those foods highest in pesticide residues, we can make a measurable difference.”
CONDITION OF THE WEEK:SPORTS STUDY The Study: The influence of pelvic adjustment on vertical jump height in female university students with functional leg length inequality The Facts: The authors took 30 female university students who all had functional leg length inequality. They divided them into two groups. One group was the control who performed stretching exercises. The other group was the adjustment group and those subjects were adjusted. The vertical jump height improved only in the adjustment group. But, the functional leg length inequality improved in both the adjustment and stretching group. Take Home: Stretching did affect functional leg length inequality but adjustment improved the functional leg length inequality as well as the jump height.

WELLNESS:Oil of oregano fights harmful bacteria, cancerA new report out of the University of Arizona (UofA) says that oil of oregano is a powerful nutrient for fighting harmful bacteria and preventing cancer. CHIROPRACTIC: AUTISM AND CHIROPRACTIC A recent case study reported in the Annals of Vertebral Subluxation Research suggests that chiropractic adjustments can help reverse and prevent autism and issues related to the autism spectrum. The patient was an adopted three-year-old girl who was born at 28 weeks weighing 2 pounds, 5 ounces by a woman who had a history of prior drug abuse. IN THE NEWS: Low iron intake during pregnancy linked with autism For children whose mothers had low supplemental iron and other risk factors, researchers at the University of California, Davis found a five-fold greater risk of autism. In a new study from the UC Davis MIND Institute, researchers examined the relationship between maternal iron intake and having a child with autism-spectrum disorder. CONDITION OF THE WEEK: ADHD Helped With Chiropractic, A Case Study The case was of a 5 year old boy who had been diagnosed with ADHD at age 2. The childs pediatrician prescribed methylphenidate (Ritalin), Adderall, and Haldol for the next 3 years. The combination of drugs was unsuccessful in helping the child. At age 5 the child was brought to a chiropractor to see if chiropractic care would help. The chiropractic examination and x-rays showed noticeable spinal distortion including a reversal of the normal neck curve indicative of subluxations. Casual marijuana use may come with some not-so-casual side effects.
For the first time, researchers at Northwestern University have analyzed the relationship between casual use of marijuana and brain changes – and found that young adults who used cannabis just once or twice a week showed significant abnormalities in two important brain structures.
The study’s findings, to be published Wednesday in the Journal of Neuroscience, are similar to those of past research linking chronic, long-term marijuana use with mental illness and changes in brain development.
Dr. Hans Breiter, co-senior study author, said he was inspired to look at the effects of casual marijuana use after previous work in his lab found that heavy cannabis use caused similar brain abnormalities to those seen in patients with schizophrenia.

“There were abnormalities in their working memory, which is fundamental to everything you do,” Breiter, a professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, told FoxNews.com. “When you make judgments or decisions, plan things, do mathematics – anything you do always involves working memory. It’s one of the core fundamental aspects of our brains that we use every day. So given those findings, we decided we need to look at casual, recreational use.”
For their most recent study, Breiter and his team analyzed a very small sample of patients between the ages of 18 and 25: 20 marijuana users and 20 well-matched control subjects. The marijuana users had a wide range of usage routines, with some using the drug just once or twice a week and others using it every single day.
Utilizing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), the researchers analyzed the participants’ brains, focusing on the nucleus accumbens (NAC) and the amygdala – two key brain regions responsible for processing emotions, making decisions and motivation. They looked at these brain structures in three different ways, measuring their density, volume and shape.
According to Breiter, all three were abnormal in the casual marijuana users.
“For the NAC, all three measures were abnormal, and they were abnormal in a dose-dependent way, meaning the changes were greater with the amount of marijuana used,” Breiter said. “The amygdala had abnormalities for shape and density, and only volume correlated with use. But if you looked at all three types of measures, it showed the relationships between them were quite abnormal in the marijuana users, compared to the normal controls.”
Because these brain regions are central for motivation, the findings from Northwestern help support the well-known theory that marijuana use leads to a condition called amotivation. Also called amotivational syndrome, this psychological condition causes people to become less oriented towards their goals and purposes in life, as well as seem less focused in general.
Given these eye-opening results, Breiter said that more research is needed to look into marijuana’s effects on the brain – even in those who use the drug only once or twice a month.
“We need to see what happens longitudinally,” Breiter said. “What happens as you follow people over time? What happens if they stop using – do these bad effects continue? What happens if you can intervene early?…My worry is we haven’t studied this compound and here we are looking to change legislation on it.”
Although Breiter’s team members did not examine the patients’ cognitive symptoms, they do believe that the brain abnormalities seen in their study could lead to substantial effects on brain development and behavior, especially given the young ages of the participants. Breiter also acknowledged the problems of analyzing a very small study sample – but said that their findings should still serve as a wake-up call to others.
“This study is just a beginning pilot study, but at the same time, the results that came out are the same as a canary in a coal mine,” Breiter said. “…The interaction of marijuana with brain development could be a significant problem.”

WELLNESS: WHY YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE SHOULD BE CHECKED IN BOTH ARMS People who have different blood pressure readings in their right versus left arm may be at increased risk for serious heart problems later in life, a new study suggests. People whose systolic blood pressure readings differed by 10 millimeters of mercury (mm Hg) or more between their right and left arms were 38 percent more likely to have a cardiovascular problem, such as a heart attack or stroke, over a 13-year period compared with people with smaller differences between their arms.
CHIROPRACTIC: The Chiropractic Care of Children with Attention-deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder: A Retrospective Case Series Explore (NY). 2010 (May); 6 (3): 173–182 Pediatric patients (aged < or =18 years) attending chiropractic care for a minimum period of five months following a medical diagnosis of ADHD were included in this review. Our review found four patient files satisfying the inclusion criteria. All patients were males, ranging in age from nine to 13 years (mean age, 10 years), with three patients having a history of medication use and two patients having prescribed medication at the start of chiropractic care. Using a 15-item parent/teacher ADHD questionnaire, the patients’ responses to chiropractic care were monitored. Using the Friedman test to compare observations repeated on the same subjects, our findings found improvement in ADHD symptoms (ie, hyperactivity, impulsivity, and inattentiveness, as well as behavioral, social, or emotional difficulties) and provide supporting evidence on the effectiveness of chiropractic in the treatment of children with ADHD.
IN THE NEWS:LACK OF SLEEP TIED TO MORE HEALTH RISKS FOR OBESE ADOLESCENTS For overweight and obese adolescents, a lack of sleep may be linked to a higher risk of developing diabetes, heart disease and stroke, Counsel and Heal reported. In a new study published in The Journal of Pediatrics, researchers found that only one-third of participants were physically active for at least one hour a day. Furthermore, most teens only slept for approximately seven hours each night. The National Sleep Foundation recommends children between ages 10 to 17 should sleep for a totally of 8.5 to 9.5 hours per night. While obese or overweight teens already had a high risk of developing cardiometabolic diseases, researchers found that a lack of sleep elevated this risk even further.
WELLNESS: TAKING ACETAMINOPHEN DURING PREGNANCY MAY INCREASE YOUR CHILD’S RISK OF ADHD Most people will take over-the-counter medication without thinking twice about it, which is probably why acetaminophen overdose is the leading cause for calls to Poison Control Centers across the US every year. Acetaminophen is also responsible for more than 56,000 emergency room visits, 2,600 hospitalizations, and an estimated 458 deaths due to acute liver failure1 each year. The study included data from more than 64,000 mothers and children in the Danish National Birth Cohort. Over 50 percent of the women reported taking acetaminophen while pregnant, which was found to be linked to: A 30 percent increased risk for ADHD in the child during the first seven years of life, 37 percent increased risk of being diagnosed with hyperkinetic disorder (HKD), a severe form of ADHD

DIET: VITAMIN E MAY OFFER BENEFITS FOR PATIENTS WITH ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE The study compared the effects of vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) and the Alzheimer’s drug memantine, to assess which one might be more effective for slowing progression of mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease in patients taking an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. Follow up was just over two years. Results showed that clinical progression of Alzheimer’s slowed by 19 percent per year in the group receiving vitamin E, compared with placebo. (This delay translated into just over six months of delayed progression over the two-year follow-up period.) It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time memantine, sold under the brand name Namenda, has been found to be more or less useless for mild to moderate Alzheimer’s. The drug is approved for moderate to severe cases, but doctors often prescribe it off-label for mild Alzheimer’s cases. It’s even prescribed off-label for mild cognitive impairment (MCI), which is frequently the prelude to Alzheimer’s.
IN THE NEWS: POOR SLEEP LINKED TO TEEN MENTAL HEALTH PROBLEMS Getting too little sleep might be a sign of – or even a contributor to – emotional problems, anxiety and suicidal thoughts among teens, according to a large study from Europe. Based on data about the sleep habits of nearly 12,000 teens across 11 European countries, researchers found that a student with suicidal thoughts could be predicted to sleep about 36 minutes less each night compared to counterparts with no suicidal thoughts. For teens with severe emotional problems, the amount of sleep lost would be about 30 minutes, on average, each night. Lack of sleep among teens has been linked in other research to many negative health effects, including high blood pressure. And researchers have found that teens are generally going to bed later. Past research has also shown that teens need between eight and a half and nine hours of sleep each night. Teens in the current study averaged about eight hours of sleep.

IN THE NEWS:SIDE EFFECTS FROM ADHD DRUGS MAY BE WORSE THAN ADHD The side effects from ADHD medications are often far worse than the condition itself. These drugs actually rival illegal street drugs in terms of their dangerous risks to health, which include: Permanent brain damage, Cardio toxicity and liver damage, Cancer, Changes in personality, depression, and/or hallucinations, Heart attack and stroke, Sudden death and suicide. This is a more than 400 percent increase in ER visits due to adverse reactions to such drugs in a mere six years! Drugs prescribed for ADHD are not “mild” by any means. On average, we’re getting one to two hours less sleep a night than we did 50 to 100 years ago and 38 minutes less on weeknights than we did as little as 10 years ago. At the extreme end, the result could be the acceleration of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

Over the years I’ve experience the power chiropractic in improving the health of both my own children and the children I’ve had the privilege to serve. We live in an ever increasingly dangerous healthcare system. The common use of toxic and dangerous drugs and the overuse and misuse of medication like antibiotics are having a serious deficit effect on the health of our kids. Today more and more kids go to school drugged by design. And it seems to be only getting worse.
There is a simple glaring problem with this approach, drugs don’t produce health. Drugs might modify symptoms, at a cost, but outside of crisis care their effects are temporary and their side effects can be long-term. Probably one of the drugs that have been abused the most is antibiotics. In a vast number of cases where antibiotics are prescribed, they are prescribed in violation of all the latest research concerning the appropriate use of antibiotics. Research shows that antibiotics don’t work for colds or flu’s, most conditions where there’s a cough, most bronchitis or runny noses and most ear infections. Probably 70 to 80% of the time when these symptoms are presented the pediatrician or other doctor writes a prescription for antibiotics even though the doctor knows they are inappropriate. Why? When the doctor is interrogated afterwards they usually blame the parent for demanding it. The sad truth is most parents just want the appropriate care and since the medical doctor doesn’t have any more training in how to address these issues without drugs (and drugs don’t help conditions like these) then they feel impotent if they don’t write some kind of prescription. The sad fact is that pharmaceutical companies have taken over the healthcare system and if you’re not an informed consumer then you will line the pockets of the pharmaceutical companies and damage your kid’s own health. Disease is not a drug deficiency, diseases is a deficiency within the body. Chiropractic physicians have the training to reestablish the body’s own communication systems necessary to keep the system health. Chiropractic physicians have the training in diet, allergies, detox protocols and nutritional therapies to reestablish normal function of the systems of the body including the immune system. Antibiotics weaken the immune system. Even when antibiotics are needed to kill an aggressive bacterial infection their side effects can leave the person’s immune system weaker and actually more prone to reoccurring infections. Chiropractic physicians have the training to help reverse the negative effects of antibiotics and to reestablish a stronger immune system.
When it comes to preventing disease drugs are the worst approach you could take. Disease prevention is a lifestyle, diet and chiropractic centered strategy. Unfortunately the food industry is not your friend. Virtually all the foods marketed to kids will wreak havoc with their health. Most of these foods are extremely high in refined carbohydrates which depress your child’s immune system and develop the chemistry prone to disease. By simply feeding your kids natural foods: eggs, vegetables, fruits, meat, whole grains in moderation, seeds, nuts and some dairy in moderation you can establish a chemistry of health in your child. Junk food like most cereals, candies, refined grains in most noodles, pizzas, white bread, crackers etc. leads to a chemistry that is prone to disease. The fact that a lot of kids go through periods of time of “apparent health” is a miracle of the creation we call our bodies.
One of the most important things you can do is make sure your kids drink enough clean water and stay away from pops, fruit juices and fake fruit drinks and fructose that come from highly refined corn syrup. Stevia is a great sugar substitute and can be used in a number of things to give it a sweet taste without disrupting your kids’ blood sugar handling system. Marked deviations in normal blood sugar levels will weaken the immune system and affect your kid’s moods. A lot of kids suffer from focus issues at school, hyperactivity or moodiness simply because they don’t get enough quality proteins to make neurotransmitters, because of the high sugar content of their diet they can’t maintain normal blood sugar levels which can lead to depression and moodiness as the sugar drops. Also their intestinal system suffers due to the amount of junk food they consume which disrupts the normal serotonin levels that the gut produces which in turn affects moods. Whole foods prevent all of these issues.

Keep the temperature in your bedroom no higher than 70 degrees F. Studies show that the optimal room temperature for sleep is between 60 to 68 degrees. Take a hot bath 90 to 120 minutes before bedtime. This increases your core body temperature, and when you get out of the bath it abruptly drops, signaling your body that you are ready for sleep. The issue of a person being an under or over methylator can be confusing. It may not be one of the all time critically defining issues, but it may help in the general sense. 1. getting methyl groups “turns on” detox reactions that detox the body of chemicals, including phenols. So if you are phenol sensitive, and you increase your methylation, then theoretically your body can process more phenols and you can eat fruits without enzymes!
2. getting methyl groups “turns on” serotonin, and thus melatonin, production. Therefore, if you are a under-methylator, you can increase your methylation and have higher more appropriate levels of serotonin and melatonin. This means you may not have to take SSRIs, or may have improved sleep.

Light and color entering the eyes in a certain configuration can help maximize brain function. Because most people use one dominant eye and this activate only half of their brain capacity in processing. With the use of eyelights we can stimulate and balance full brain function.
When light enters the eye information travels from the retina to the lateral geniculate nucleus (LGN) located in the thalamus of the brain. There are two geniculate nuclei, each comprised of 6 layers: two magnocellular layers and 4 parvocellular layers. Magno pathways have large cells that carry out fast processes for perceiving position, motion, shape, and low contrast. The magno cells form the major input to the dorsal stream (parietal lobes) or “where or how” pathway. Parvo pathways have smaller cells that carry out slower processes for perceiving still images, color, detail, and high contrasts. The parvo cells form the major input to the ventral stream (temporal lobes) or “what” pathway.
Because eye dominance sets in and information becomes suppressed, only 6 of the 12 layers are being excited. Therefore, only 50% of the thalamus is being stimulated. When Eyelights are applied to the non-dominant eye in a monocular fashion excitation occurs within the 6 lesser functioning layers, resulting in stimulation of the entire thalamus.
An excitatory barrage then travels to the mesencephalon, the most metabolic area of the brain, causing an increase in cellular activity. When these cells become excited they metabolize glucose for energy and produce new proteins in order to stay healthy, creating a cell with more stamina and endurance. The excitatory barrage travels also to the parietal, temporal, and occipital lobes of the brain, while collateral fibers lead to the pineal gland, pituitary gland, and hypothalamus.
Neurotransmitters are naturally occurring chemicals responsible for communication of information between neurons in the brain and between the brain and organs of the body. Movement control also involves the interaction of many other brain regions, including the motor cortex, the thalamus, the cerebellum, and a large number of neuron groups located within the mesencephalon and brain stem. Loss of dopamine neurons in the substantia nigra, which connects with the basal ganglia, is a major factor in Parkinson’s disease, where a person loses the ability to execute smooth, controlled movements.
Disruption of the dopamine system has also been linked to psychosis, schizophrenia, and addiction. Color therapy has been around for thousands of years. The ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Chinese studied and used color to treat ailments. Papyrus sheets have been found dating back to 1550 BC which have a list of color “cures.” The “,” the Chinese book of internal medicine, dating back 2000 years, records color diagnosis. In 1932, two psychologists from California scientifically showed that, in humans, blue light has a calming effect and red light has a stimulating effect.
In 1933, Dinshah Ghadiali, a scientist from India, published “The Spectro Chrometry Encyclopedia.” This book laid the foundation for most modern color therapy.
About the same time in the United States, Dr. Harry Spitler developed a form of color therapy called “Syntonics.” Dr. Spitler found that he could generate profound physiological and psychological changes in patients by changing the light which entered their eyes. Even conventional medical practice uses light to treat certain diseases. Phototherapy is used to direct ultraviolet light to the affected area in the treatment of psoriasis and acne. It is believed that the color entering the eyes is directed to the hypothalamus gland, from there to the pineal gland and then to the pituitary gland, which regulates and governs hormone production. As the brain processes this information, it is believed that it causes cellular and hormonal changes. The key is that the frequency of the color may be transmitted to the area of the body which recognizes it. The frequency, or vibration, of the color is constant. The vibration can “tune” that area of the body. In other words, that area may now be restored to its proper vibration and be restored to health while the color is being used. If used regularly, the body may learn to function properly on its own, much as it will with physical therapy.

Relaxation Was Observed While Staring at Baker-Miller Pink In 1978, while studying at City University in Seattle, Washington, Dr. Schauss, along with Dr. John N. Ott, experimented with a certain color of pink, later to be called Baker-Miller. They “observed relaxation of the subjects when they stared at a 18 by 24 inch card-board plate” of this color of pink. They found that no other color consistently resulted in the same relaxation.
Dr. Schauss then did some experiments on himself. He observed that his blood pressure, pulse, and heart rate were unaffected by exposure to this shade of pink. However, “after intentionally increasing cardiovascular activity through a series of intense physical exercises, [he] found that this color had a marked effect on lowering [his] heart rate, pulse and respiration as compared to other colors.”
Could Baker-Miller Pink Also Reduce Aggression?
In 1979, Commander Miller and Warden Gene Baker at the U.S. Naval Correctional Center in Seattle painted the walls and ceiling of one admissions cells the color pink that Dr. Schauss would later name after them. After 156 days, they reported to the U.S. Navy’s Bureau of Naval Personnel, Law Enforcement and Corrections Division, Washington, D.C. that “Since initiation of this procedure on March 1, 1979, there have been no incidents of erratic or hostile behavior during the initial phase of confinement.” RED has the longest length in the visible spectrum and the lowest rate of vibration.
