CONDITION OF THE WEEK: DETOX More than 80,000 chemicals are put into American household products, food, and food packaging each year, a majority of which are not tested for safety beforehand. Common domestic sources of chemical exposure include food, personal care and feminine hygiene products, household cleaning agents, and items treated with flame retardants. Healthier alternatives are suggested. Factors such as light, temperature, and EMF emissions can also hamper your healthy lifestyle efforts by affecting your circadian rhythm, hampering sleep, and/or disrupting your biological functioning. Just another good reason to detoxify on a regular basis.

IN THE NEWS: CDC urges doctors to curb prescribing painkillers Prescription painkillers should not be a first choice for treating common ailments like back pain and arthritis, according to new federal guidelines designed to reshape how doctors prescribe drugs like OxyContin and Vicodin. Amid an epidemic of addiction and abuse tied to these powerful opioids drugs, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is urging primary care doctors to try nonprescription choices before turning to painkillers for chronic pain. Opioid drugs include medications like morphine and oxycodone as well as illegal narcotics like heroin. Chiropractic is the safest and most effective way to eliminate the source of most pain. Tell someone about chiropractic you could save their lives. In 2014, U.S. doctors wrote nearly 200 million prescriptions for opioid painkillers, while deaths linked to the drugs climbed to roughly 19,000 — the highest number on record.

FUNNY BONE: One advantage of talking to yourself is that you know at least somebody's listening.@@ People always ask me, 'Were you funny as a child?' Well, no, I was an accountant.@@ Apparently I snore so loudly that it scares everyone in the car I'm driving.@@ I'm no scientist, but I'm sure that gravity is at it's strongest while laying in bed early in the mornings.@@ Relationship status : Taken (for granted)@@ My superpower is to scrutinize my husband's driving decisions until he questions his will to live.
